    Outdoor dining in NOLA
    Yolanda W.

We enjoyed a nice of evening patio dining here tonight. We seated ourselves and a waiter quickly came over to greet us and take our drink orders. I had the blackened shrimp tacos topped with green fried tomatoes and my hubby had the Buffalo chicken salad. Both meals were fillings and delicious!

Truly enjoyed my experience here. Came here with the wife and kid to have some bar food with a family touch. The inside was like we both wanted, could be a dive bar, but also a family friendly establishment that you can bring your kids to in the daytime. Food was perfect and exactly what we wanted. I grabbed the Philly flat and was super happy with it. Add in the shimmy sauce with my fries and you got a great place to eat. It's a great spot, give it a try!

This place has the funniest sayings/jokes out front! Cool lil spot with an outdoor bar with a tv. We stopped in to order food to go. I like the ecclectic decor. We had a beer while we waited...staff was friendly and answered questions we had about the menu. Anyone who knows me knows that im a huge fan of the oyster so i chose the fried oyster ceasar salad. My guy got the white beans and pork chop. My salad was pretty good..could have used a few more oysters. The white beans were good as well. Pork chop wasnt like a typical pan fried one..it was encrusted with i thk panko breadcrumbs. I enjoyed the crunch and flavor of it. Definitely want to dine in next time bc they have a lot of tasty sounding items on their menu. They have a small parking lot and prices were reasonable.

    So good, look at that!

Shimmy Shack is a fun place to go. I miss the sign man though. Outside the restaurant there is a big billboard sized sign out front located in their parking lot, the sign would change weekly? maybe daily... anyway, whoever was in charge of the sign would come up with some fun phrases or joked or advice for the day or the week. It just used to make me smile and I so miss it. Just a suggestion to bring the sign back. So on to the restaurant, this place is ok. I never had an amazing meal here, the food is decent. But the ambience has always been fun, you can dine outside and there are TV's to watch sports, the wait staff is always friendly and, the drinks are good. In fact if there is one drink you should order, it should be the bloody mary which is not on the menu oddly enough. It is located on the napkin or the table menu I think? Anyway, the drink had some good flavor to it, it could have been a little spicier but overall very smooth, not too thick and there is a meal inside your glass - which I loved! I recommend coming here for sports games and for drinks, very fun casual place.

I recently had food from here because one of my coworkers was going to pick it up. As I was reading the reviews I was really side eyeing this establishment and reconsidering if I even wanted to give them my money. There's tons of racist reviews. However, the girl who was getting the food said she hadn't experienced any of these things when she went so I obliged. I ordered the half beef/half hot sausage burger and it was amazing! I couldn't finish it all because it's huge but I sure gave it my best effort. Tip: take 10 tums before you try to tackle this bad boy

HOUSE SPECIAL FISH TACOS with some of the best guacamole sauce ever created!

GET THE FISH TACOS WITH LOTS OF SIDE AVOCADO SAUCE Shimmy Shack has an unimpressive general menu. The atmosphere is a bit oppressive and service a bit too indifferently hostile. But no place is perfect. However if you stick to my script you will have a great experience: GET THE FISH TACOS WITH LOTS OF SIDE AVOCADO SAUCE Fish tacos are pretty much a no fail, but here they are the specialty and well executed. But what's unique is the avocado sauce. (See pic) It's last meal worthy. My suggestion, order them as the chef suggests, then get a side of extra sauce...maybe two. A good pairing with a double house margarita.

The food was good however the service was bad. It took us 25 mins to order and then they got my order wrong. I got chips instead of sweet potato fries. Then it took another 20 minutes to get our check.

At first your thinking it's a bar when you drive past but it's way more than that when you go in. It's small on the inside but they also have seating outside. It was hot inside but I don't know if it was because it was like 100 degrees outside or their AC wasn't working to it's full potential. The servers were professional and always on the go. Now the food, . The debris cheese curds were off the chain. The pieces of roast beef, sinful tasting gravy and perfectly fried cheese curds. I want to drive to tickfaw and slap my momma it was so good. You get a lot for the price so don't let that scare you. It was WORTH it. Trust this fat girl. I'm still dreaming about it. The Jimmys chicken ranch was a huge piece of breast. The only thing I can say is that it could've used some seasoning to make it pop but I saved half for later and it tasted even better. Maybe it needed to cool off but I also dipped some of it in that gravy and . BAM. Fries do not come with it but it's like $2 extra. I wouldn't even get the fries just get those debris curds. I will definitely get food from here again and shout it to the Mountains for other people to come eat here.

Between my partner and I, we didn't spend more than $30 in this place. This place is super low-key; no expectations of dressing fancy one bit. It's the kind of spot that you'd go into after a long night of partying, ready to end the night with a juicy burger with crispy fries, topped with ice cold beverages. If you can squeeze in a moment to order from their grill, I promise you won't be disappointed!

This past week we visited and we could both tell right away things were different. The inside of the restaurant was filthy and I mean filthy. You could see the floor under the bar and in the kitchen hadn't been cleaned in months. The fryers hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. Everything just looked dirty and like no effort is put into cleaning and maintenance. We decided to eat anyway which was a mistake. We love their burgers that are cooked and steamed old school. We both ordered one. My wife ordered hers with bacon, which they charge over 3 bucks for. We both ordered our burger dressed with all the fixings. When my wife's burger came out it had no bacon and no fixings. I told the waiter and he said he would handled it. He never did as he started doing other orders. My burger had no flavor and it looked like the person that made it didn't care , which goes along with the restaurant cleanness. One thing that really turned us off was the was other guest were treated by staff. The "cook" was completely pissed off and had a horrible attitude. A group came in looking for a table and there wasn't room. He yelled at them that there wasn't room. They stood in the entrance area for a few moments and then he yelled at them that they needed to get out of the restaurant and wait outside. He told them this isn't a restroom so don't wait in line. The attitude and distain in his voice was overwhelming. A few minutes later a couple came in and found 2 seats at the bar. They decided to order food to go and was talking to the waiter. One of the 2 people ordering was standing behind the empty bar seat while they ordered. The cook yelled at this person that they needed to sit down. Both customers were stunned. The waiter told the cook they were making an order to go and the cook could be heard muttering under his breath. This little guy was nothing but attitude and seemed extremely pissed off the there. Maybe instead of being the restaurant traffic cop and total smart ass he should concentrate on getting orders straight since ours was screwed up and never fixed. Whatever charm this place had is gone along with the any effort to keep it up to clean standards.

Turtle Bay -- 4…read more Listen... this is MY spot. One of my favorite places and honestly one of the only places I'll sit down and eat in the French Quarter. I've been coming here for about 6 or 7 years now, and they are easily in my top three. The vibe? Dive bar, laid back, no fuss... but the FOOD? Don't sleep on it. Their menu is solid and I still haven't made it through everything yet. I've had the wings, which we actually got this visit but ate them so fast we didn't even get a picture. That should tell you enough right there. I've had the pizza, and my husband usually goes for a burger. Never any complaints. They've got plenty on tap and the drinks hit too. I love a good Electric Lemonade, but this time I kept it simple with an Angry Orchard. Now let's talk about what keeps me coming back... The steak. We got our old faithful, one of their signature steaks, the 10oz petite ribeye. This is exactly what made me fall in love with Turtle Bay in the first place. Normally it's around $13.95, comes with a twice stuffed potato and a slice of garlic bread. A DEAL. This time it was a little higher, but still under $15, which honestly is still more than fair with how prices are these days. And when I say it be hitting... it be hitting. Only reason this visit didn't get a full 5 stars? My steak was cooked a little over my liking. I usually go for medium, and this one leaned more done than I prefer. Not horrible, just not my usual perfection. But everything else? Still solid. The staff is always nice, always welcoming. I've never had a bad experience with them, and that matters. And I already know I'm coming back because I keep hearing the crawfish is FIRE. Yeah... I need to see that for myself. This is my happy place. Open 24/7, consistent, affordable, and just a real gem in the French Quarter. The Bay is Babe. Period.

It's tight enough that you'll likely have people bumping into your chair or brushing past you while you eat and walk through the dining room. The biggest downside was the service at the counter. The line to the cashiers was very disorganized. Instead of calling the next person in line, one cashier was pulling people up at random, which made the ordering process frustrating. Overall, the food is fantastic, but be prepared for chaotic crowds and a messy ordering system during peak hours.

New Orleans version of a NY bodega is where I found one of the best and most adorable shrimp po'boys. You'll have to put these directions into your phone, because the location is in the depths of the neighborhood district. It's walkable to and from the popular Canal Street, just much quieter and secluded. You won't be able to park on this particular street, but near by areas would allow for street parking. This is in fact a grocery store with a hot food market setup in the back. I was pleasantly greeted immediately as I entered by a gentleman stocking, and a nice lady behind the register. I immediately darted to the back of the store and saw the setup, simple with a bit of updated technology. You can order and pay at a tablet style screen, and wait for the magic to be made on the other side. It took about 5 minutes and I got a text my order was ready, the same gentleman who was stocking called out my name from the back and handed me a 12 inch shrimp po'boy for 12.00. This sandwich was incredible, loaded with crispy fried shrimp and fresh lettuce. The bun was soft and very fresh, I added extra pickles for an acidic flavor breakup to the fried fish and dough. The flavors were on point, very seasoned and perfectly cooked shrimp. I was very impressed by the price and quality....not to mention customer service. Pro Tip: My van driver mentioned to me before dropping me off at the hotel, a lot of people walk Burbon Street and turn around when it becomes residential.
