We just went there for lunch and was with family that are regulars there. It was the worst experience we've ever had. The menu has different prices than what the will actually charge. Once we asked the older women manager, she continued to argue and say that is just how the computer rings it up. She didn't even seem to understand why that was wrong and gave no solution. My husband and our family have come to eat here since the day it opened. The restaurant is always very clean and the service never disappoints. We love the food, especially the ribeye and charro beans! The portions are perfect, which makes for an order of charro beans to take home for later. We live in Hahnville we came here - about a 30 min ride - for the first time and it was absolutely amazing!!! The drinks are authentic and yummy. It was good. I've tried the chicken tinga taco and daily lunch special which both were good. Happy hour drinks were good. Great salsa. I also ordered flauntas to go. They prepared them as if I was eating there so by the time I made it home they were soggy and inedible. I would suggest you tell them to separate the dressing on your to go orders. read more

It's a hit or miss with the the service. They have a hard time handling big crowds. Got seated quickly, but waited about 10 minutes before being brought chips and salsa. Waited another 5 mins to put in order. No one came so we left to go to El Paso where we were seated and served quickly and the food and drinks are pretty much the same. read more

Probably the best La Carretas other than Hammond. We had a great lunch here and the restaurant was exceptionally clean. I mean to the point of standing out. Bathroom was great too. Our lunch came out timely and tasted great. My fajitas were on a dry skillet... so much better without all the grease! My wife enjoyed her flautas too. And the drinks hit the spot. This neighborhood restaurant has a wonderful outdoor patio which attracted me to the restaurant. It was not busy and we had a minimal wait time for food and drinks. I had a raspberry margarita on the rocks and it literally taste like juice. I ordered the red fish tacos which were extremely bland despite being very pretty. Overall. I am not pleased with the recent changes this restaurant has made. I have been coming here for years and as of today (1/27/19) the menu shrunk, the prices grew and the quality of the food too a nose dive. ALSO if you have children be prepared to spend some unnecessary money. The kids menu used to be a full meal with drink included, now it's a few cents less than it was and you have to pay full price for an adult drink ($2.59). If you're like me and have multiple children it adds up. There is something wrong when your bill is $15+ for 6 drinks. read more

I have been eating here for years - I've always loved the food! Fortunately the food is still great. Unfortunately, the service lately is not. The waiters are usually very friendly, but management is not so much. There is a manager in the dining room who is there just about every day. Each time he helps the waiters out, covers for them, etc... he has been very rude towards me. He acts like your wasting his time with questions, he always appears inconvenienced by questions, and is generally sarcastic and rude in his manner towards customers. I have experienced this guy's service a handful of times in the last few months and I'm sick of it! La Carreta, your food is great, but its time for the guy in the white shirt to straighten up. Waiters often have a slightly negative attitude which can make your visit and meal here quite uncomfortable. It can be a little quiet in this place, bring your headphones lol. Otherwise the awkward feeling will kick in... Good food--if you order the right thing or happen to catch them on a good day... I have been coming here every so often for the past few years, it seems to be same thing every time. Only once have I been and they had what looked like to be a new manager, I would've given it 3 stars but my next visit was back to the same ole' same ole'. The only reason why I come here anymore is when I crave for their salsa--being a #1 Mexican cuisine fan for since before I can remember, they have the best salsa in town. Salsa is a plus.
