The store is packed with any genre of sheet music and books (and TAB form) for every instrument you can imagine (banjo, dulcimer, mandolin, vocals, guitar, piano, brass instruments, woodwinds, etc all of them). They sell accessories such as guitar strings, tuners, straps, picks, music stands, and some acoustic guitars and banjos as well. Vinyl records and small musical gifts line the walls, it's so fun to explore and each time you visit you'll find something new, as there's so much selection. If there is something they don't have in stock, they will order it for you. The vibe is very relaxed and they are never pushy, you can look around for 30 min alone exploring if you want and just ask if you need anything. Love this place and can't recommend it enough, it's also a vintage store with history dating back to the 1950's so it has such cute charm and decor, it's an experience that online shopping can't give. We had three choices and price points, and I selected the "student" one which was the least expensive, and wow, this instrument sounds so much better and is in great shape! We were in and out of the shop in 20 minutes. The salesperson helping us was knowledgeable and friendly and we were able to find the accessories we needed as well (shoulder rest sponge and rosin). She's been playing it for 3 months with no issues and it doesn't go out of tune quickly like her cheap one. Billing is automatic and easy, with no mistakes. If you find it's hard to get your child to practice music at home, you'll also know how nearly impossible it is when traveling. In the past I have contacted music schools, rented instruments, and even bought a keyboard and hardcase. Each of these solutions created its own problem from the school that said we could use any open practice room only to be barged in on by a very pissed off nine-year old who insisted we were using "her" piano, to having to returned to a music store for parts missing from the keyboard we rented, to having to pay a hefty additional fee to the airline for the oversized instrument case. By good fortune I found Dodge Music when planning our trip to Phoenix. Miciah made it easy to arrange and pay for practice space but the best part was the studio itself, a nicely furnished and impeccably clean room with a well-tuned baby grand. Sure beat the shoebox sized and airless practice rooms that we had to put up with in the past using console pianos that were on their last leg. Miciah was friendly, obliging but never intrusive and let my son get on with his practice as soon as we stepped in. An added bonus was Miciah's dog Gizmo, a very gentle, short-hair dog who would hang out with us. My son is very allergic to animal dander but both the house and Gizmo were almost antiseptically clean (compare my house anyway). My son didn't have any problems with his allergies and Gizmo was a welcomed lesson companion. Even though my son wasn't taking lessons from Miciah, I can say with confidence that his studio exude a relaxed atmosphere where one can readily focus on lessons. The first guitar was a newer Blacktop Fender Jaguar that had some neck problems from being left in a hot garage. I gave it to Mark Allred and had him do a neck adjustment and full set-up. The guitar now plays better than when I bought it. The other guitar I brought was much more complicated. I had an old 70's something Tiesco guitar that had a myriad of problems. Not to mention, I had taken it apart to paint it and effectively broke and/or lost some things. I brought the shell of a guitar, plus a zip-lock bag full of parts to Mark. He couldn't promise that it would ever function again - that, I understood. He managed to fix the pickup, made some parts for it and put it all back together. The guitar sounds great and plays outstandingly well. I was ecstatic to get both guitars back in such great condition. I'd recommend Allred guitars to anyone who wants to get their stringed instrument back in working order.

Everyone I spoke to was really nice, and I was able to get my flute serviced quickly. The instrument repair person is there on Wednesdays and Saturdays. They did a pretty good job, but definitely didn't polish my flute, which I was kind of disappointed about, especially since I asked it to be thoroughly cleaned (this was also indicated on my service ticket they typed up). I was able to polish it myself after I got it back with a silver polishing cloth that I had to purchase. They have a huge variety of instruments, accessories, and books! It does seem to be more catered to guitars/percussion, but they still had a decent selection for woodwinds and brass. They also have tons of teachers that do private lessons. I will definitely be returning if I need anymore repairs done, as they did a nice job with those!
