Baker Optometry is always a good experience. Showed up a little bit early and was able to get my preliminary testing done. Browsed glasses while I waited for my optometrist picked out a couple I liked, went in for my exam which took about 30 minutes and was out the door and under an hour. I was in search of an optometrist who was friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and, most importantly, offered the latest technology in this field. Comfort and Friendliness - For an exam to have your eyes checked, oftentimes, it's an up close experience where you should feel at ease with the doctor and staff. I felt completely comfortable with the office staff. They're pleasant to talk to. No awkwardness. They walk you through each piece of equipment. There were no eye drops!!! It was great. Professionalism - This should be a duh, right? He's a Doctor! My definition for this would be that my wife and I both went to the appointment together and I always feel some initial discomfort with new medical professionals treating us in any awkward way, as an LGBTQ couple. Dr. Baker was extremely professional and very respectful in his demeanor. Knowledgeable - You can tell that Dr. Baker is very well versed in this field. We talked about lenses, computer habits, how I feel after staring at screens or reading books, he answered any questions I had. There was even a machine in the beginning that I paid a very reasonable extra fee to take a scan of our eyes to see the health surrounding the eyeball. I am a firm believer in prevention vs repair (by not planning ahead). Finally, Technology - The office felt VERY sanitary and clean. Brightly decorated. Both staff and patients were wearing masks! During the process of trying on lenses, they ask that each one tried on be placed in a tray to be cleaned and sanitized between choosing. It felt like a very health first, safety focused medical environment. I did not make a note of the kind vision expert that assisted me with choosing frames, but she was very sweet. She understood my insurance allowances and even some rebate offers. Dr. Baker also emailed me personally, upon request, to send specifics for the vision exam and what my Rx is. They are also great about being transparent and will send you in the direction of professionals that can help you if they cannot provide what you need. Amazing experience! I usually go to Kaiser for an eye exam and have avoided getting new glasses for about 4 years now because it's so hard to find something that fits my face and nose bridge. I met with the receptionist, optometrist and someone who helped me explain my plan and options. Karen, Dr. Jeneli (might have misspelled it) and Jerrie were so fantastic. The optometrist was patient, informative and I could tell he genuinely was there to help out and cared about my service. Jerrie was exceptional. She was so patient and kind through the whole process. I didn't feel rushed or pressured into getting something I didn't like. She pulled all the glasses that could potentially be my style and gave me so much advice I never knew about. I put off getting glasses because the process was hard and no one really walked me through but she was just so amazing. She even helped fix some of my old glasses since my pads were coming off. 1000% recommend this place for its amazing care and customer service. read more

I cant say enough positive things about this place. Welcoming from the time you walk in. No pressure sales after your appointment. Amazing staff. During the pandemic, they worked extra hard to help me figure out an eye condition I was developing (Thygeson's). Even came in on their weekend for me when I was in agony. I've since moved to West Sac and still make the drive across the horrible causeway to see them. I also really like Lisa, one of the eye technicians. I have been very happy with Dr Baker and was especially happy to see his optician who was the gem at my old Opthometrist office. She is always helpful and has an eye for placing bifocals. At Baker's office my glasses have been perfect and billing simple. My entire family has moved because Baker hires experienced professional staff and ethically sound. At my former Opthometrist the bifocal line placed by a very difficult optician were wrong in 2 pairs of glasses, and a pair of glasses fell apart in the first 3 months with no assistance from the practice. Dr. Baker is my first and only optometrist, and I continue to come to his office despite moving ~25 mins away. He came highly recommend by a friend, and I have never been disappointed. Not only is Dr. Baker incredibly professional and proficient, but he is also incredibly personable, with excellent bedside manner and compassion. Dr. Baker never makes me feel rushed, and always patiently answers my questions, even once spending considerable time with me discussing my wild idea to change my career to optometry. I honestly hate to write this review because now I'll be fighting even more of you for appointments! 5 for Dr. B. His office is clean, well decorated, and has all the coolest new gadgets to test/scan your eyes. His staff are amazing. They are all so kind and helpful, but especially when there's a hiccup. A couple examples: One time the glasses I ordered took forever to arrive, when I notified his team of this, they were on top of it, called the manufacturer, set me up with an interim (complimentary) set of glasses, and called me and the manufacturer to continue shepherding the process until I got the glasses I originally picked out. Another example is from the very first time I ever picked out glasses, one of the technicians (Leah?!) patiently sat with me and helped me pick out the perfect pair of glasses for me. I was painfully indecisive but she was so supportive and helpful! They are still my favorite frames ever! 5 for the team! One last note, but a very important one. Dr. Baker puts ethics before all else. He left his last practice after discovering his partners hid mistakes. After those practitioners failed to correct these issues, Dr. B. put everything on the line to open his own practice and serve his patients with honesty and integrity. Since moving, I was hoping to move to an optometrist more local. I was referred to Baker Optometry by a friend, and I'm so glad that I was! The new patient set-up was seamless (completed over the phone; they checked out my insurance beforehand), so when I showed up for my appointment with Dr. Xhemalaj, I didn't have to fill out any paperwork! Covid-wise, everyone wore a mask and there were opportunities to socially distance in the waiting room (a very stylish space with glasses displays lining the walls and sectioning off the clients). They were very clear about pricing for the exam and a person was set aside just to explain my glasses coverage (Lisa, lovely woman!). Everyone was super knowledgeable about what they were doing - it was a well oiled machine! I never had to wait more than a couple minutes to do my pre-appointment work, the appointment itself, and then the glasses consultation. I was in and out in less than an hour - shocking in the world of health care. Meeting with Dr. Xhemalaj was such a great experience. He answered all of the questions I never felt comfortable asking my optometrist before, and allowed me to understand my vision in ways that didn't make me feel talked down to. And he didn't seem perturbed that I asked so many questions - kudos to him for such excellent customer service.
