I had a 20/10 experience at Baker Street Snow. If you're looking for new gear this is the place to be. They do all the search for you (will cater to your price range) and the overall atmosphere is extremely inviting. Not only that, the customer service was phenomenal. I was getting help from the ski tech and he was goated for helping my sister out. He took the time to make sure both of our boot sizes were spot on and even helped pick out the perfect skis for her. IDK where their previous location was, but he told me they just moved here...and it's triple the size of their previous location. The great review of this store caught my eyes, and I decided to drive over to check out some snowboarding gears. They have a variety of brands for snowboarding, skying, and skateboard gears. The person who helped us was very knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and personable. Five stars services! We ended up purchased a snowboard, boots, gloves, binding, helmet, goggles, and socks! Absolutely 11/10 experience!! We took my mom in to get custom boots and it was breeze from start to finish. All the staff were really friendly and the guy helping with our boots really knew his stuff. We loved how he explained the process and the ins/outs of the boot. After skiing for over 40 years, we finally decided to treat ourselves to skips and boots for Christmas. We searched Yelp and headed to Costa Mesa to check out Baker Street. From the moment we stepped inside this snow adventure's haven, we were immediately greeted by the manager who was very knowledgeable and friendly. He asked us a few questions about the gear we were looking for and got us fitted for new skiis and boots. The manager was patient and listened to our needs versus trying to merely sell us which we appreciated. We got hooked up with color coordinated poles and bindings. The ski repair shop is next door and you receive 50% off their service of installing your bindings and ski wax with the purchase of equipment at Baker Street. It was a short 2 day turn around to get our gear in hand. This ski season is going to be epic with our new set up! Thank you Baker Street! read more

Great place with amazing workers!! They went above and beyond when someone accidentally took my personal board thinking it was rental and tried returning it to Baker street snow. The employees ended up calling the resort and tracked me down to tell me they have my board. Nothing but good things to say about the excellent people here! Came on Memorial Day weekend and they had a decent stock of boards/bindings/boots. However, recommend checking online like with evo, as though they have discounts there. Some of the boards are cheaper on evo by $30, but some are the same price so it just depends on what you want and are trying to get. Still worth coming here to check out their gear. All the guys here are super informative, but also they apply "gentle" pressure and upsell a lot. We had 4-5 different guys approach us and gave us different opinions every few minutes. Some guys also bsed us. They tried to convince my beginner friend to get advanced boots when she straight up told them she was a beginner. Tl;dr good selection of stuff at a decent value, but come here knowing what you want/need and double check the specs online for their recommendations. read more

This shop is all kinds of awesome!! I was in DIRE need of new snowboard boots, and I had shopped online til I dropped but nothing is the same as trying something on in-store and having someone there to help guide you in your selection process! I mean, I don't sell snowboard boots for a living so I should probably consult w/ someone who does, right? Best decision ever!! Being a cheap-@$$, as soon as I got to BSS, I immediately gravitated toward an adorable pair of clearance boots that I had actually seen online and was super stoked to see them in the shop. Good thing I didn't order them online--it turns out my foot is smaller than I thought and I would have ended up with boots that were too big! The things you learn in a quality board shop! I needed a new pair of boots since my last pair were bottomed out. Went to these guys to pick up a new pair. They sized me right and wore them around the house and noticed that they were painful to wear. Took them back a few days later to get them heat molded and they felt better. I rode them a few days and they were still hurting like crazy, even just standing or walking around. So I took them back I was worried they were just gonna try to sell me another pair since it was past the exchange time, but they did an exchange! Cody has been in the ski and snowboard industry since 2000. He started working at Peter Glenn ski and sport ( old Newport ski Company) in Newport Beach. When they went out of business and the ski shop that followed as well Cody stuck it out in the industry he loved. I went to Epic BMX yesterday because I needed help with a bike crank arm. I only needed one crank…read morearm replaced, but before really looking it over, I was told the pedal was stripped, then that the crank arm was stripped as well. The shop tried to sell me both crank arms, then said the chain would not fit the new arms, so I would also need a new chain and another part. I was told the size was traditional, which made me question why so many extra parts were suddenly needed. When I asked if we could just replace the one broken arm, he kept saying the arms "wouldn't match." I had to keep asking for clarification before it became clear that he meant they would not match visually, not that they would not fit or function together. I was not worried about how it looked -- I just needed the bike to work. Then I was told the other arm was bent and that everything should be replaced. The quote was $120 just for the crank arms. After checking online, traditional-size crank arms were around $20. I understand shops need to mark up parts and charge for labor, but this felt excessive and like I was being sold parts I did not actually need. Unfortunately, I will not be coming back. This could have been a chance to earn a long-term customer, but the experience left me feeling taken advantage of.

Unfortunately, today was a completely different story. We understand that safety rules exist for a reason, but the consistency and attitude from the staff today were awful. First, one staff member kindly asked me to separate my kids into different sections of the bowl so they wouldn't bump into each other because they are " inexperience" he said. I happily complied. Shortly after, another staff member came over with an angry tone and stated that only one kid could be in the bowl at a time. If that is the policy, that's fine but the staff needs to be on the same page, and they certainly don't need to be mean. It really felt like my kids were being singled out and penalized just for not being expert skateboarders yet. Super discouraging environment today.

I found Baker Street Snow on a gps search while looking for a snowboard for my 11year old. I don't know much about snowboards but Erick did not try to upsell us at all. He asked a lot of questions about growth and skill level and how often we expect to get to the mountains. He took his time with us and showed genuine interest. Instead of treating us like we didn't matter or pressuring us to buy what we didn't need, he walked us through options and made sure we understood what we were buying, even recommending a less expensive board for the beginner level of my son. Erick and the rest of the staff at Baker Street Snow truly understand the importance of nurturing a long term customer relationship as opposed to making a quick sale. We are now loyal BSS customers. I will be returning again and again and am eager to recommend them to friends and family. In case you were wondering, we ended up purchasing a Ride board and bindings. My ski boots died due to old age two seasons ago... Buying new boots was is normally a traumatic experience but made easy with the help of the knowledgeable ski and board technician/salesmen who guided me through this process. Equipment changes and advances in on sports and especially ski equipment! There's no greater shop in OC for snowboard gear! They have a huge selection of gear and knowledgeable staff. Eric helped outfit me with boots, bindings, and a board tailored based on how I wanted to ride. Despite how busy it was for their President's Day weekend sale he made time to answer, explain, and demonstrate the difference between the different options until I was satisfied with my selection. They have multiple rows of snowboards to browse through, at least 5. Along with quite the selection of bindings and boots to choose from on their wall. Each sticker price is a package deal that includes boots and bindings. We chose a board that was $519. We opted to upgrade our gear, which they gave $120 credit towards boots and $100 towards bindings. They have enough variety to fit your budget that includes options from current and past season to choose from. Binding installation was also included in the package. Boots we chose were priced at $310 in store (online price $330) and bindings at $240 (online price $250). So we ended up paying $190 for the boots and $140 for the bindings. Our grand total came out to $928 with tax. Do the math and that comes out to a bang for your buck. We saved about $300 from the set we initially purchased at REI. Competitive prices and great customer service. I highly recommend stopping by :) pro tip: do some research on gear you are interested in before going, call in to check on brands and sizes you may be looking for, and try to come in on less busy hours like weekdays for the full experience.
