I haven't touched a long board since I was in my teens, and was looking to buy one since I'd only ever borrowed my friends' gear. The staff was very helpful, and answered every question I had. They provided me with recommendations, fitting advice, and made sure I know to try on multiple models of helmets to make sure I had a good fit. Ultimately, they didn't have a hemet in stock that fit me, but I will definitely be coming back to this shop in the future to get my board! Their prices seem to match what you would find in other stores, so I have no qualms about supporting this shop! Bought a pair of Burton snowboard Step-On bindings online, disliked the color, and went to the store to return them. I was told that all sales are final. There is literally no sign on the website saying sales are final if you follow the steps to place the order. I said I would like to pay for the shipping because I don't want the store to lose money. The staff called the owner, and the owner still refused to refund even though the bindings were brand new in the box and hadn't even been tried on. One stars for the nice and patient staff. Minus four stars for not clearly listing the non-return policy. The owner was just downstairs when the staff was paraphrasing his words to me. I believe people would like to support their local stores and small businesses, but I didn't feel the owner appreciated the business from me. He didn't even want to talk to his customer. At the end, I appreciated the staff who helped me, and they said they will put a no-return policy reminder in the right place on their website. read more

My wife and I were looking to rent some snowboards for a quick trip up to Big Bear and are super happy we came to the Attic! Justin, the manager, was super helpful and knowledgeable about the gear we would need and set us up really quickly with some great demo boards. More importantly, Justin gave us GREAT advice on needing a helmet for our trip. We almost didn't buy them because they are a little pricey, but Justin took the time to explain why it was so important. We ended up buying helmets and goggles and are so grateful we did. On our last run of the day, my wife got hit on the head and blacked out from the crash. Her helmet had a big gash in the back where the other person's board hit her helmet! She ended up being totally fine, minus a sore neck, because she had a helmet. Super thankful we took Justin's advice and that he took the time to explain to us novices. Side note. Old school decals, you know the ones; Powell Peralta, Santa Cruz, Rat Bones, Thrasher. I was on a mission to get some throwbacks to decorate the beer fridge in my garage, because...why the hell not? So a quick check of Google showed me that Attic Skate Shop had exactly what I was looking for at the prices I could live with. Nice. So I go on a short spree stuffing my cart with all the decals my heart desired, making a mental note of this place for many more upcoming purchases. Then comes time to checkout...and I see the shipping charge. 10 decals, $15 shipping. Bruh. Look I know what I want, and I can afford it, so I let it ride, looking forward to how sweet that 80s artwork is gonna look on my fridge. An hour goes by and I see I missed a call, I called it back since I was waiting on a call from that could show up as unknown, lo and behold it is Blair (sp?) from Attic Skate Shop to tell me that the postage calculation must have gone wonky and that he would be refunding the overcharge. Look I am 1500 miles away doing a faceless internet transaction, it would have been easy to collect the fee and keep on rolling. Not only did they make it right, they called to let me know. I ordered some Independent Stage 11, 109 mm trucks online for my son's birthday. I figured skateboarding would be a great way for me to spend time with him, despite having not been on a skateboard for close to 15 years. When Blair called me to tell me the trucks been shipped the next morning I was pretty psyched and explained who and what they were for. He ended our conversation with, "They're on their way!" Attic skate shop came through big for me! After I bought a Burton board and Flow Minx bindings from a shop on the east coast I didn't realize I needed a special disk for the bindings which is the FLOW - Channel M6 Disk Bindings Slot-Compatible Disk Kit. I literally searched every website out there and called Flow corporate headquarters who told me good luck finding the discs because flow was not making any this year. Luckily Attic had a bunch in stock at a very fair price and I ordered them through the website which was really easy. They were shipped same day of purchase and went all the way from Costa Mesa,CA to NYC in 3 days which was just in time for me to hit the slopes for the weekend. read more

We stumbled upon Attic Skate shop while we were on lookout for snow-activity related rentals. First off, their expertise lies in snowboarding /skateboarding but rent out helmets and apparel as well which was what we were mainly looking for as we were going on our skii trip. (This being our first snow-related activity, we decided to go on for a rental rather than a purchase but next time around, will definitely purchase apparel instead). Location : We arrived here first on a weeknight and Google maps led us to Starbucks. The store is tucked away to the back and located on level 2 which almost looks like an attic. Rental reservation : They don't have a huge collection for apparel rental but luckily this is the only place where a found a snow pant that would fit me. So we made a reservation based on the staff person's assurance that in case the same pant was not available when we came back on Saturday for pickup, I was free to choose any from the brand new rack as well. Rental pickup : When we came back on Saturday, the same pants were not there but I got to pick a new one which turned out to be a much better option, indeed. We also rented out helmets for both me and my husband. Pricing : Rental apparel and helmets are priced at 10$/day for each of the items. The staff was courteous and they have us the free attic socks with the check in.
