As it is not as convenient to me as Woodfrog Bakery it's taken some time to get there, but today, on my way home from the gym, I decided to detour via Baker's Larder to pick up some fresh bread for lunch. Aaaaaand I think I have found my new favourite bakery. Baker's Larder occupies a small space with elegantly laid out goods, including an enticing window display of stack of freshly baked bread. There is a good range of basic breads - grain loaves, ciabatta and turkish bread - as well as some delicious looking cakes. It took all my willpower not to walk out of there with a slice of the orange and almond cake (and now that I am thinking about it I really regret it). Even though I had walked in there with the intention of getting bread for lunch, I ended up with a loaf of fig and ginger sourdough because it just sounded too delicious. And it is - a nice, crisp crust and moist innards, with juicy chunks of dried figs. I just know this will taste delicious with some blue cheese and a glass of red. And I will be going back for the orange and almond cake, for sure. * Seriously. Any leftovers usually have the crust removed and then get turned into bread and butter pudding. The sweeter side of the bakery is alright. Normal bakery fare of custard tarts, vanilla slices, tarts of a few varieties. They're all okay. I haven't had a bad experience here. Yet. If you want to order something, good luck finding their phone number. I've just spent over ten minutes looking for it. Not a good sign for a business, but I'll keep buying there.

I haven't yet had any pies or sausage rolls there, but the people are lovely and chatty, and I've always walked out feeling as good as you could expect when you buy something at a bakery. It's located at Little Collins/Russell. I tried their ham & cheese croissant.
