Thankfully a young man by the name of Kevin stepped away from the drive thru window to take my dimple order, an egg taco. As lead or manager Jose's attitude was UNEXCEPTIONABLE! Visiting from out of state but used to live in the IE for many years. Have enjoyed Bakers since I was a young. Purpose of my visit was to enjoy good food and get some Hot sauce to take back home. Miss the days when they sold the hot sauce in a bottle. Life was easier then. So asked the manager for a grip of sauce for me to take home. Explained I was from Portland, Oregon, then he started talking crap about Oregon drivers. Right away, I agreed with him because it's true. Been to this Bakers more than a dozen times. Most experiences are okay. Food is what you expect... not great most of the times just "okay". Today what led tot he 1 stare review was the my experience when I decided to get down to order my normal soda order. As soon as walk up to the counter I was not greeted, was immediately told the kiosk is right there I can order when I'm ready. Very impersonal, not welcoming and frankly turn off. I understand that there's a push efficiency and technology which will lead to cost savings. There may be some people do like the kiosk, but in my opinion most people like ordering for the person, especially there's no one in line. I hope Bakers corporate sees these. You can be like some of your competitors and fall in line and force your customers to order from my iPad or you can set yourself apart with personalized service. Went to Bakers Drive thru last night , there appeared to be an issue with the employees head set because his voice was cutting in and out & he could not hear us . He was being very rude as if this was our fault. My husband had to keep repeating himself multiple times because the employee was repeating the wrong things . After he was done with his order he asked him to give him one second so he could tell him what I wanted now and the employee "Guillermo" said In a very rude tone "Well let me know when you guys are FULLY ready to order" . When we got to the window I let him know about the headset and I don't appreciate the way he was speaking at all & he says "Is that it ?!" I've been eating at Bakers for 35 years. My family and I use to love it. After Covid, their prices rose and the food is not as good. They changed tortillas, fries have horrible after taste, and I just got a taco burger with hardly any meat, 3 strands of cheese, and 2 little pieces of tomato. Avoid, now I know why the parking lot is empty. Still waiting for my order fifteen minutes and counting. This review started as just a tip, however, once my order finally arrived (a good 20 minutes after placing the order) I decided enough is enough. Because the drive-thru at the nearby McDonald's was long, and bums were roaming the parking lot, I made the fateful decision to waste a lot of time going to Bakers. Encouraged by the proximity to campus, and the empty parking lot, I pulled in reasoning how can they mess things up when it is slow? Apparently, idle and apathetic employees can indeed screw up effortlessly. I ordered what I thought would be a quickie: Number Two sausage sandwich with hash browns and coffee. Should only take all of 3-4 minutes to assemble, right? Well, the clock ticked, no coffee, no food in sight, and a bunch of employees standing around. Irritated, I got up to inquire about my order after some 12-15 minutes, and asked if the coffee sitting there was mine. It was. Still no food though. The guy who took the order said they were cooking the sandwich. Lame. At least the food was fresh and hot. Finally, as mentioned above, the order was ready. The guy brought it out and I asked him if it was normal to take this long? He said they made a mistake and gave my order to a drive-thru customer (Remember that line about drive-thrus in that Mel Gibson flick). Simply put, they messed over two customers in one unapologetic blow. Sure, the fellow apologized to me, but no managers owned up to the mistake that I heard several employees laughing about in the back. Bleh. This is the closest fast food to my work and it will always be my last choice. The one star is because the ladies working there are very nice, but that's it. Every single time I've gone (mostly because work caters there sometimes) the fries have been cold and cooked in rancid oil. They taste so gross! If the line is long, it blocks cars that are parked in their parking lot. Went in with family and order some burritos, chili cheese fries and a couple of combos. Fries looked like they were fried again. Told management who stated that they were fresh. Really?!?! Disgusting. When our complaints were told to management, we were told that that's the way the fries come out and they didn't know why. I know...they were Friedman a dirty fryer. When told to remove the fries from our order, I was told that the total price would increase as 2 of the fries were with combos. No apology. No attempt in rectifying the situation. All this coming from (as I'm told) the GM. Finally, the GM came with fresh, nice looking fries that came out mod what? A CLEAN fryer.
