First time coming here. It was to work a comedy show for a third party venue YONDR. I parked in the…read moreback lot on the side of the hotel. I went through the side entrance to the casino floor amd found the event station set up outside. The casino floor is massive, with many games. Slots, table games and a high roller area. The floor was very clean. I didn't see any cups, water bottles or trash left around. Staff was consistently cleaning. Bathrooms were kept up I used two separate ones. One was closed for cleaning so I got to try the one down by the restaurant and hotel area. Never have I seen a toilet that self replaces the seat cover for you. I love this feature! I guess I need to start traveling more. There are different spots to order food. I saw pizza, sit down and sushi, there is a bar if that is what you want. Little shops here and there for shopping. Security were on point all night. There were two specific people i really remember. One was standing at the beginning of the line for people to be checked in for the comedy show. This individual was making sure nobody brought food , drinks or alcohol from the casino with them outside to the comedy venue. This person helped keep the line moving. The other individual I met when\nI started my shift. My job was to check patrons in for the comedy show. I gave them a designated seating tab that showed them where their seat was. As I was doing this , I let the guests know that that they won't let them take their food alcohol beverages outside or from outside in I was just trying to help get the line to go smoother , because as soon as they opened the doors , the patrons got to go in. At the end of the event, I helped unlock the bags so the patrons can get their phones, smartwatches or earbuds, earpods out and return the pouches/bags to the yondr collection bags. I thought it was a very well managed event with the mixture of the third party i was working for, and all of the staff that works for Tachi palace. The staff that I saw working the event , which included security, people in purple shirts that I think were like ushers, cleaning crew. There were managers or management type people they were wearing suits. I did not get to try any food there.Although I really wanted to it smelled very good when I passed by the different places. I looked at the Pizza.It looked well made, i probably would spend money on that. The hotel looks like , it can hold a lot of people. Thursday swimming pool area with a kid area. So families can come here, all ages and enjoy the food, the entertainment, the relaxation, just to get away. I definitely want to come back so I could eat at the different places. I'm 67 years old and the pocketknife was my dad's so I took it back and and came back to the door and the woman meets me and my wife outside the door with 5 or 6 other people around and yells at us that we didn't put the knife away, embarrassed I told her we did and she yells that we didn't and that they watched us on camera. There was a tomato strategically placed on each slice of the flatbread. They accommodated his request without any issues. The food came out before the show started and was served fresh and warm. The theater itself was clean, and the seats looked clean and new, as if they had been recently updated. It made the whole experience even more comfortable. It's nice to see the Filipino youth & locals participate in this festivity, so they can learn and understand the Filipino culture/heritage. The cultural dances continue to stay the same and passed down from generations. I remember participating in the cultural dances and performing on stage. It definitely feels like yesterday. I'm happy to know that a little bit of my culture is being celebrated. This event happens every year on the last weekend of July. The festivities takes off with the adobo cook off on Friday evening while everyone else is setting up their booths. I'm guilty to have NEVER attended this part of the event. I hope one day I'll be able to check it out. The following day the festivities kick off with the parade downtown Delano usually at 10am and back to Cecil Park for the festivities. They usually have tents with Filipino food and halo-halo as well as other booths. I usually grab food from the Thai food tent. I know it's a Filipino festival then why buy Thai food haha. I eat Filipino food almost everyday and that Thai food stand has been part of Filipino weekend for as long as I can remember. They also have bounce houses for the kids, a train ride and even rock climbing. There's also a designated area for 21yr olds and over to grab a drink. End of July is always super hot and usually the weather is over 100°, so if you're not used to that temperature then I wish you the best of luck. Shade usually helps; however, if you're not from here then you should know that we have dry heat. Wind doesn't usually blow a whole lot, so you're literally sitting in the heat under the shade. Bring lots of water and possible a tent or umbrella to stay cool. Or be like me and come extra early or when it's almost over haha, but then you'll miss all the cool entertainment. I don't think you should miss it because the kids practiced all summer to get their dance down. The park is open to the public with no admission fee. They have a basketball tournament going down across the street at Delano HS and they have the Bingo going too. Those are two ways to stay cool. I recently found out they have a tennis tournament going also, so look out for that. Prior to the festival they usually post the pageants on their website for Tiny Tots, Miss Philippine Weekend, Mrs. & Mr. Philippine Weekend. You should check it out to support our local event.
