They could be creative about this idea. And the customer service needs to follow through is when someone orders and doesn't have to wait and wonder if the order is done. I don't know .. maybe the business of giving good food tops all that.. although - the crab berry scone is not as good as the sourdough ones I make- the orange icing tastes like those cheap cinnamon rolls cups- it could be better. Stopped by Bakery by the Lake and picked up a pistachio matcha -- absolutely delicious! The flavors were perfectly balanced: earthy matcha with a nutty pistachio twist. Smooth, not too sweet, and really refreshing. Taige was kind and took my order -- super friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better. The ambiance is cool and relaxed, with great low music that sets the perfect vibe. I was also able to work remotely and catch up on some emails, which makes this spot even more of a gem. This quaint and surprisingly large bakery by the lake definitely delivers all the rage!! I was so excited to try this Bakery as I saw a commercial for it on social media. It definitely has a lot of regular patrons and the customer service excels! They definitely know customers by name!! It definitely made me feel welcome! They had beautiful cakes that are perfect to treat a friend for their special birthday or special occasion. They have many lunch and breakfast items and both indoor and outdoor seating. Came here around 1 PM on the Friday after thanksgiving. The bakery wasn't too full but quite a few patrons hanging out or working. I got in line to order and it took some time but all the workers were incredibly nice and helpful and patient! I ordered a chai, and the person taking my order asked me if I wanted it spiced so I said yes. I also ordered their cranberry turkey sandwich special. The drink and food came out very quickly. The chai had a nice touch of spice so I'm glad I got it "spiced". The sandwich was also quite good! It was warmed, and the touch of sweet from the cranberries complemented the turkey well. The bakery itself has a great atmosphere. Tons of light, plenty of seating, both tables, couches, and single bar seating. Really pleasant place to grab some food or drinks in the area! read more

Stopped by this bakery after another local coffee shop recommended it for gluten free options. Grabbed a gf muffin that was good. We were sitting outside eating the muffin and one of their employees told us we couldn't sit at the tables with our coffee from the first coffee shop. I'll start with the negative. They should've named this place "The Lakery." Big miss, but hey, you win some you lose some. Now for the positives. Lucky for them, their lack of naming skills was cured by their delicious breakfast sandwiches and tasty parfaits. We yelped this place after spending time as a family at the park below. This little lakeside cafe has more than just pastry's and coffee. We enjoyed the full array; chocolate macaroons, egg and cheese sandwich (plus bacon), and a couple of parfaits for the kids. All was good. Seating is ample. Follow the signs past the oddly placed refrigerators (no, it's not grab and go, it's literally their refrigerators) to the order line. Downtown Couer d'Alene is no picnic to look for parking by mid morning up to the evening. That was why on my last day there on my most recent trip I went early and parking was abundant! I was trying to make a goal on the Pokémon Go game and did just before the conclusion of my trip but Downtown had plenty of elements to get close to that goal with a fair amount of walking. All that walking and strolling around got me in the mood for a coffee shop. I didn't see one readily available but I eventually came across Bakery by the Lake. It's a very appropriate name as this bakery is literally facing Lake Couer d'Alene. I went in and saw a very nice pastry selection as well as coffee drink options. I haven't had a Bear Claw pastry since I don't know when. I also got an iced Chai Tea. My current drink at coffee shops this past spring and early summer. The staff very promptly completed my order. It was warm and humid enough outside in a pleasant way to eat outside of the bakery on the patio. My Bear Claw was awesome! I got the impression it was made on site or very close by because it was very fresh, flaky and vibrant to eat. Needless to say it didn't stick around long. My Chai Tea was very good too! Very refreshing and it had a nice spiciness to it from the Chai mix. I would definitely come back here again for more of the Bear Claws! But know to come early due to the parking challenge unless you feel like taking a walk from a nearby residential area. read more

My husband and I popped in for lunch after a walk on Tubbs Hill on an unseasonably warm February day. We were happy to find this place because we had our dog with us and needed somewhere with tables outside. What a find! The food was fresh and delicious. Hubs had a spicy Italian panini, and I had a grilled cheese on wheat and cup of vegetable soup. The breads on both the sandwiches were excellent. My grilled cheese was loaded with stringy cheese and the Italian had the right blend of meat, cheese and dressings. We want to go back and buy some of the bread to take home, and also try their pastries. Service can be a little slow because the kitchen is small and the bakery is popular, but when your view is of Tubbs Hill, McKuen Park and the lake, who cares? read more

On May 22nd, 2024, I went in with a friend, and we ordered food and coffee...they gave us our coffee, but the food never came. We inquired, and they said they lost the ticket...we couldn't wait again, so we asked for a refund. They gave us cash for precisely what the sandwiches cost, kept the tax and tip, and refused to give us that back. I found this over-the-top ridiculous and stupid. My wife and I stopped in here to have a quick breakfast before heading back to Puyallup. It was early Sunday morning and it was perfect. We each picked a breakfast croissant, her's with bacon, mine with sausage. The coffee was delicious and the breakfast sandwiches were really good. Croissant was flaky and not dry. I got a cannoli to go and she, a cinnamon roll. Staff were really friendly and very relaxing atmosphere. Regular tables and chairs and a couch area. Glad she got the big cinnamon roll for 2 reasons. Came here this morning at the recommendation of our rental hosts. The barista got our food order wrong, and then our drink order. My husband and I ordered two different coffees, both were pure milk and syrup, no flavor of coffee at all. We even each added an extra shot and still couldn't drink it. Great location with plenty of street parking, Bakery by the Lake was our first stop on a busy morning. We found great coffee selections, pastries (cranberry orange scone!), breakfast panini, and sausage egg muffin. We liked the vibe in this place, from the friendly barista and bakery manager to the delicious food and neat seating areas. Our high bench seating afforded views outside the glass windows while the sunlight streamed in. Outdoor seating also was available and people who could handle the cold temps were enjoying breakfast with their dogs resting under the tables. We really enjoy walking to this bakery. The food is consistently good and seems fresh. The place is usually packed out with people of all ages. I typically get tea while my husband loves the mocha. The staff isn't always friendly which is why only 4 stars. I'm not sure what it is but I feel like customer services isn't part of the training to work here.
