Eva warmly welcomed & treated me so kindly, I immediately relaxed into my comfy spot to relax, sip and read for a while. Even though they use a premium chai, my dirty chai was too sweet for me, Eva insisted on remaking me another!! The Berry Streusel, lightly heated, made for a perfect combo. Vault Coffee was a really good stop in downtown Coeur d'Alene. It's in a cool old bank building on Sherman Ave, so it already has more character than your average coffee place before you even order anything. The coffee menu was the big win for me. They had a lot of unique latte options instead of just the same basic flavors you can get anywhere, and I liked that they leaned into local touches with huckleberry items. That's the kind of thing that makes it feel like you're actually getting something from the area and not just another copy-paste coffee stop. It's also in a great spot if you want to make more of an afternoon out of it. We needed a coffee stand while we waited for first service at a new church to conclude. The coffee menu was well stocked with options and the food selection was good. One of the neat things I found was that my ice cubes in my coffee were brown. Coffee cubes so my coffee doesn't get watered down. The salsa was ok and the sour cream tube was also ok. I have found my new favorite coffee place in CdA! I had a few hours to spare before heading back home to Moscow, and I stumbled into Vault. I noticed for $13 once could purchase a flight of seasonal iced coffees. Five glasses at 4oz each? Sure, why not? WHY NOT! You MUST do this. I sat by myself at a low counter with some wooden stools I'm OBSESSED with (if you ever sell them, Vault employees, let me know!) and enjoyed my flavored treats (with the cutest toppings!) and absorbed it with a slice of chocolate sourdough smeared with cream cheese. I would've tried all the pastries, bc they looked THAT good. Located in downtown CdA, I had only parked a couple of blocks down the way, and though the streets were semi-bustling, Vault kept customers coming in and out in a timely manner. Service is quick - staff is awesome and friendly. I ordered a Seasonal drink - The Jack Frost, upon recommendation from the barista - while my brother in law ordered a Hazelnut Oat Milk Latte. The Jack Frost drink is White Chocolate with peppermint bits/syrup. Tastes amazing with the oat milk substitute. Literally one of the best "seasonal" drinks I've had in awhile. My BIL mentioned he liked his drink as well. I noticed a menu offering their Avocado toasts, which was reasonably priced. Parking is atrocious (especially during the winter months around the holidays) - but that's not the fault of the cafe. Tl;Dr 5 stars for the lavender cardamom latte. 3.5-4 stars for the avocado toast with egg. I came to Vault Coffee on a Sunday morning around 9:45AM. It was pretty busy inside - most tables were occupied and there was a short line. Workers were very friendly and my order came out pretty fast. The lavender cardamom latte was AMAZING. Seriously, if they have this still, do yourself a favor and order it. It makes me excited to try their other drinks. It genuinely tastes like how lavender smells. The avocado toast with egg was ok. I'm not sure I'd order it again. The avocado kind of reminded me of guacamole you could get at the store. For the price, it didn't impress me.
