These are some GOOD donuts. There's even some gluten free cookies for those folks who can't do the traditional bakery items. We came here with a squad (little cousins, four adults) and the Bakery on State folks were kind enough to let us hang out at the counter and eat at the little counter (well, I think we were loitering but they were nice about it). We tried the croissants, jelly donuts, GF cookies, lemon bars, poppyseed donuts, and some other treats and they all had our stamp of approval. The guy working the counter was super chill too--we were going to take a trip to the Rahr West to check out an exhibit and said we were coming back for dinner rolls. He put some on lay-away for us so we wouldn't have to lug them around (we had walked from the farmer's market). Keep up the good work, Bakery on State! My only feedback is that y'all need to get the beverage fridge back up and running so you can sell some bevvies for us choking back all these baked goods. read more

Cute little bakery with very tasty donuts and danishes. The bread is yummy! Rye bread with plenty of seeds and flavor. The Vienna bread has a hard crust but so soft on the inside. Super friendly staff with decent prices. I'll be back for sure! read more

An absolutely awesome bakery. Very small town and they distribute to all of the restaurants nearby. We had some banana bread and a few pastries that were all made fresh this morning. The staff is super friendly and helpful, pointing us towards good local sandwich shop since we are traveling from out of town. If you're passing through, take five minutes to stop and grab a loaf of fresh made bread or a delicious pastry. It's absolutely worth it! read more

Wonderful, friendly owner. The food is amazing and he let us use his restroom even thought it wasn't a public restroom. The owner spent time talking to us, giving us recommendations and we could spend hours just hangout there. read more

Found this bakery coming out of orthopedics and assoc. with my brother driving. He mentioned he'd stop here as a teenager (70's) after work every evening. They have delicious bread and pastries. The reason for 4* is the prices for individual pastries; they can be over $2.00 - $2.50 a piece and I find that to be a bit high. Doesn't stop me though, just can't buy a dozen at a time! read more

I went on a Saturday morning, the donut selection was great. Love the simple glaze that was crunchy outside and soft middle. I would say this is a better bakery than the other alternative in town. Just wish they were open on Sundays too. read more

The owners should really be more diligent about keeping up their grounds customer friendly when it is snowing. As well as training their employees on what to do when someone falls on their property. I was there grabbing some pastries and as I left their steps were iced over and I slipped on them as I was leaving. I went back inside and let the cashier know but she had no idea what to say other than she would throw some salt on them. I was very irritated and rather than blowing my top with an employee I left. read more

We live in Colorado and were visiting family, the gentleman I worked with over the pjone was so nice and helpful and suggested the red velvet cake after I told him my husband liked cream cheese frosting. We ordered a sheet cake and a small smash cake for our daughters first birthday. IT. WAS. AWESOME. I sent them a few pictures and told them what I liked about each picture, and they incorporated each picture to make an absolutely beautiful cake. Great customer service and very accomodating...you can tell they really want to make the customer happy and try to get you exactly what you want. I feel they went above and beyond. It not only looked beautiful, but I can honestly say it was the best tasting cake I have ever had elsewhere. No where beats Bakery on State in product or customer service. read more

wish i could give them no start but needed one in order to make this review. worse customer service ever!!!! first and last experience, i'm never coming back to this bakery. ordered an 8" cake with strawberry filling and whipped topping. nothing too fancy just rosette rainbow roses. halfway home it shifted. i called to tell the bakery what happened. the person who answered the phone was only concern about closing that they didn't even care what happened to the cake or tried to understand my situation. she stated that they were not responsible for damaged during transport. who the heck is going to pay for a bakery to transport a birthday cake? stupid. i can honestly say that the cake was made poorly. heck. walmart probably would have done a better job with a simple cake. the cake was way too moist, the part where it shifted was between the two layers of cake and where the strawberry filling was. if the cake was made properly like a professional bakery, this should have never happened. the lady on the phone also suggested that i try to "fix it myself", so paying a bakery to make a cake i could have done myself would have been another stupid idea. she then also recommended for me to put it in "the fridge". (another indicator that it was moist) now i have to put this piss poorly made cake in the center of the table because they simply said it was "too time consuming to fix" and that they were closing. please do not even bother with this bakery. after i told a few people at work, they said that i should have gone to another bakery. i know now to never ever make the same mistake again. save your money, bad customer service, poorly constructed cake, is just not worth it. i don't know why other praises this place so much when they can't even provide adequate customer service let alone make an 8" birthday cake properly. read more
