We wanted to go somewhere else for breakfast. And we haven't been here in a long time, so we gave it a shot for breakfast. We got seated immediately, ordered, wow the food came fast. Now when I say that, most food gets sent back. But this food was cooked to order, and cooked perfectly. I had the eggs Benedict, and my mom had a ham skillet. Both were delicious! We stopped in for an evening dinner. The diner was nearly empty. We were seated immediately. I noticed the special was the fish sandwich. This came with fries and soup or salad, I chose the vegetable noodle soup. Our drinks were served, and my soup was a minute later. A short time later, my fish sandwich came out. This was a deep-fried frozen fish patty. It's not the flaky tender filet I was expecting. The patty was placed on a bun with lettuce and tomato on the side. The fries were good. Soft golden brown and lightly salted. Just the way I like them. The fish sandwich was a disappointment, but it didn't speak to the other menu items. I'm sure there are many other items that will be to my liking. read more

Stopped in on a Wesnesday night for supper. The place was not crowded, and we were seated immediately. Upon reviewing the menu, I decided on the fried shrimp plate. It included a choice of potato and soup or salad. I chose French fries and house salad. A short time later, my salad came out, and it was cold and delicious. I had the French dressing on the side. Not too long after my shrimp plate cane out and the shrimp, in my opinion, were overcooked, or they were fried in old oil. The fries were crispy and good! The dinner came with a small bowl of vegetables. The vegetables were overcooked. I will be back to try other menu items, maybe some breakfast. read more

Prices for the size of the portions were very good. Dinners came with all the fixings as well as a dessert. I had the liver with onions and added the bacon. It was just fine for the price. The vegetable medley was not. Others had assorted items and they ranged from OK to not at all good. Service was fine but nothing special. I am rating this based on it being a family style restaurant. A step up from the classic family restaurant. Same charm and ambiance, but better food (and nicer appearance). I only come here for breakfast, but the offerings and tastes bring me back. Stopped in today on our way home and was very pleased. The restaurant is not fancy, but it is clean and bright. The waitress was friendly, attentive and cheerful. A very pleasant person. I ordered two eggs with the chopped steak. The steak was perfectly cooked and surprisingly large! I asked for my hash browns to be crispy and they too were done just as ordered. While this may seem like a rather simple order, but sooo many places screw up some part of it. Not here, everything was exactly how I like it. My wife was not very hungry so ordered pancakes and told me she would probably take most of them home. After a few bites she talked about how good they are. She then finished the whole plate! Very much like a typical Milwaukee Greek family restaurant, this clean and impressive interior welcomes diners with an extensive menu. Something for everyone. Friendly service. Reasonable prices. Room for improvement includes advertising on the highway because there is certainly no easy to find it. (We found it only because it was located behind an advertised Perkins and Applebee's.) Food-wise, there's a lot of room for improvement: Don't serve canned vegetables as a side; make sure the mashed potatoes are hot; don't serve overcooked pasta. It's 7:00 AM on a Thursday morning - Three eggs over medium, sausage links, crispy American potatoes, toast and coffee - that's what I ordered and that's exactly what arrived. The service was pretty good considering I never saw anyone but our server working the entire restaurant, she was pretty busy taking orders, pouring coffee, delivering the food and running the register... I have eaten here a few times and was on the fence at first. It was never busy and it was just weird eating in a relatively big place and hardly any customers. It's hidden away behind the Perkins so I'm sure that hurts their business a bit. The last two times a have been pleased with the food and the service. Food was well prepared and portions were fair for the price. There has been more customers which may have been helped by the new theater that just opened up the road. Next time you see the parking lot full at Perkins drive a few more yards and give the Knife and Fork a try. read more

My husband and I stopped here for breakfast on the way to bike the Mariner's Trail in Manitowoc. We were very impressed with everything. Service was lighting fast. We were instantly greeted, seated and drink orders taken. Menu was extensive, prices were very reasonable. We ordered pretty standard breakfast fare, eggs, bacon, pancakes, etc, and our meals were delivered in what we thought was record time. Just had breakfast at this place. Waitress was a true gem, even laughed at my jokes (I can be pretty funny). She was a true pro, everything one could want in a waitperson. The place is pretty big; but it is neat clean and well lit. My wife, a bit of a coffee snob said the coffee was very good. My tea was a generic black tea. Tea drinkers always get the short end of the stick in restaurants. Tea is meh, and we don't get endless refills like the coffee drinkers do. But this is true in almost every restaurant I've been to. Although it wasn't on the menu, I asked for a broccoli and onion omelet. My wife asked for a veggie skillet with jalapenos instead of green peppers....no problem. The kitchen got our order out in good time. Our food was really good. My omelet was perfect with lots of broccoli and perfectly melted cheese. My wife raved about her skillet. The portions were prodigious. Even the potato sides were cooked just a little crispy. Needless to say we got full. Our intrepid waitress kept my wife's coffee topped off throughout the meal. Until I joked that if she got my wife over caffeinated I would leave her there (remember I said "joked"). Without missing a beat our waitress said she had all kinds of things she could put my wife to. This is definitely a place I wish I could add a half star to the rating. It could be justified a 5 star rating......almost. Free range eggs and real maple syrup would get them there. None-the-less this restaurant is a superior place to get a great breakfast. Wow. This was disappointing. Stopped here today for lunch. Husband and I got the smelt lunch. Kids got chicken nuggets, chicken fingers and fries. Truly one of the worst meals I have had in a long time. The breading on the smelt was completely flavorless and there was sooooo much of it. The mashed potatoes were old and the gravy reminded me of the Salisbury juice/gravy I had back in the day for school cafeteria lunches. The ice cream was certainly that cheap brand that come in those small styrofoam cups. I don't know how this place has 4 stars. I relied on these 4 stars and that was the reason we came in. Our waitress was wonderful...so was the bus boy...and the hostess. Really sweet people- hence the 2 stars. But the food was practically inedible. read more

Being vegetarian, sometimes make choices difficult; however, Fork and Knife has a couple options on their menu and was advertising their veggie burger on their outdoor signage.
