I ordered the basic powdered sugar waffle, liege style. My husband ordered the Belgian style waffle which was topped with macerated strawberries and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Again, the waffle and strawberries weren't warm so it was like eating a dry stale cold waffle with cold strawberries and a scoop of ice cream. Disappointing to say the least. I'd pass on this place and stick with the street vendors where you can watch them make it in front of your eyes and served warm.

The Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert location was already impressive with its 1800s glass enclosed shopping arcade but we opted for inside seating to be surrounded by the beautiful woodwork and colorful panels of the restaurant. Staff were friendly and service was leisurely which allowed us to linger even after we finished our drinks and waffle. They served both Brussels and Liege waffles that could be customized with your choice of toppings or a bunch of set combos. We decided to share a liege waffle with stewed strawberries and it wowed us. We loved the sweetness from those unusual stewed strawberries (looked no different to us) on top of the crunchy and caramelized liege waffle. It was the perfect pairing and worth the splurge. We also appreciated the large glasses of cold lattes which provided a much need jolt of caffeine on an already quite warm morning (June heatwave throughout Europe). One knit pick was the table we chose wobbled a lot but with a folded napkin underneath temporarily stabilized it.

On the day we visited, they had pommel (apple), vanilla, speculous, chocolate, and original waffles. Plenty of toppings to choose from of course.
