I was looking for a spin class while I was visiting 30A and I am very disappointed in the professionalism of the "only certified spin class on 30A". The class was in a bedroom. The instructor did not greet us or take time to explain the parts of the bike/the set up. The instructor actually didn't make eye contact once through out the ride, they kept looking down at their handle bars and it felt like they were just working out by themselves and we were simply there. I feel disappointed in my experience. The only plus side is the front desk representative was friendly and there was a dog that hung out in the lobby and I love a good lobby dog. read more

The receptionists are always so sweet and helpful with scheduling and looking for specific supplements. I was fortunate enough to score a massage with Molly, and boy was it just what I needed!! I am pregnant with twins, and she made this prenatal massage experience spectacular. She made sure the pillows were adequately supporting me and I even fell asleep a couple times. It was amazing! My husband had a deep tissue massage at the same time, and had the same sentiments as I did- it was wonderful. I'm visiting Seaside/Seagrove for Easter Break, so I decided this might be the time to re-visit Yoga. I haven't even attempted Yoga in at least 8 years, and that was a single one-time class. So, I am NOT experienced at this at all! I did a drop-in Yoga class on Wednesday morning at Balance, and I loved it so much that I signed up for a second class today and a Breath Class with a guest instructor this evening. If time allows, I'll sneak in a 3rd before going home tomorrow. Dr Bob the Bulldog greats you at the door. Not my cup of tea, as a long-time Bikram yoga enthusiast, the class that I took here was pretty much the opposite of what I am used to. I like to know what I am going to get in a yoga class, with an emphasis on alignment; entering and exiting postures deliberately and mindfully; specific breathing cues; and discipline of students and teachers alike. That said, this is a great place to practice if you like a more freestyle-type class. Very good if you enjoy Vinyasa/flow classes with music and occasional singing. The dog is completely kick ass. read more

This used to be a must visit every time I come to the area! Unfortunately the last couple of times have seemed less and less appealing. The time before my most recent visit the spin class was terrible. And for $18 a visit, that shouldn't be the case. This time, and my last time I will be visiting, I paid for two spots online to take the morning spin class on a Thursday. My husband and I were going to attend for a vacation workout. Apparently their online booking is not well managed. There was only one spot for the two of us. Well they made no effort to fix things. The girls at the front said we could wait to see if someone didn't show up and then pretty much blew us off. The class started and they didn't inform us as to whether it was full. My husband decided to let me have the spot. The class was not worth getting up for. Sad. I use to really enjoy visiting this place! I gave them two stars because Dr. Bob was there and he's awesome!! I have vacationed on 30A for years, several times a year when I am lucky. Why I never tried this place till this past June, I'm not so sure. It was FABULOUS! I went to the spicy Sunday class with Kelli and it was one of the best--if not, the best--yoga classes I have ever had. I mean, looking out at the gulf while practicing, what could get better? It was challenging and hot. I questioned how hot it would get because we were in what seemed like a loft space, but it got hot. It was great! I also went to several spin classes which were a great workout and FUN! I will certainly visit again, and when I do...I can't wait to practice here again. THANKS BALANCE HEALTH STUDIO! read more

My first time at this studio and was excited to have so many options for classes. I took a Hot Vinyasa Yoga class. The class was absolutely packed! I was nervous doing the class with so many people but it turned out great. Great flow, fantastic instruction and excellent work out. You will sweat A LOT but it is incredible. I will be going back tomorrow. Must check out if you are on 30A. Afterwards I decided to get a massage with Roxanne. First let me say that yoga and massage are my therapy. I get massages once a month. Roxanne's massage was A-Mazing! She knew exactly how to massage the muscles individually. The pressure was not too much but definitely not just a rub down. The room was nice and quiet. The music was not distracting. The room was cool but not too cold. (I did go right after a hot yoga class so I was sweaty). I felt terrible to go in sweaty but needed a massage to help work some hip pain. By far one of the absolute best massages that I ever gotten. If you need a massage ask for Roxanne. read more

I just had the wonderfully healing experience of meeting Dr. Joe at Balance Health Studio. My back has been going out and causing increasing pain for months now. Slipping in and out of that zone. He checked it out and told me what I need to do for the next 3-6 months to heal and strengthen it. I feel better and know I am on track to a normal life/back again. My wife and I took a Spinning class here while visiting family over the 4th of July weekend. Online registration was very easy (it does take a few minutes to set up an account before you can book classes) and the price was very competitive. The spinning studio was pretty nice and the bikes appeared to be well maintained. The class was challenging but is still appropriate for all ages and fitness levels (you adjust your own tension - so you can control the intensity of your workout). It was my first time taking a Spinning class and the instructor did a nice job of explaining everything beforehand. The studio could use better audio equipment - it was often a bit hard to hear the instructor. read more

How do I put into words what a special place this is? The teachers are vested in your practice and the spiritual aspect of the class is inspirational. The community at Balance is accepting and supportive whatever your level. You could be a beginner or a lifelong yogi and your experience will be excellent leaving you an extra bounce in your step on the way out. I love the music and chanting too. I have been to this studio for cycling classes in the past. I thought I would try a yoga class. The singing in the beginning of the class was a little off-putting for a fitness enthusiast but the class did not disappoint. It was a terrific yoga class. The only recommendation I have would be to include the chanting/singing in the description of the class so that participants know what to expect. However, the instructor (Kelly) made it clear that the singing was optional. Overall, it was a great experience for a yoga/fitness enthusiast! read more

I attended yoga classes here while I was vacationing on 30 A. I have been practicing yoga for years and have to been to A LOT of studios in different parts of the country, and the yoga classes taught here are by far some of the best I have been to. The teachers Melissa and Kelli really know the physical and spiritual side of the practice. Their classes are physically very hard and also very rewarding to attend. If you want to feel great all day while on vacation, go to one of the morning yoga classes. It's packed! I have been going through withdrawal since I came back and am almost depressed that I cannot find two teachers like these in my own city. WOW. read more

I went to bootcamp (kicked my ass) and the Sunday Spicy Vinyasa Yoga class (also kicked my ass) It was PACKED! Totally packed. Sold out. It was really amazing. I like to keep my routines in tact as I travel so I scouted out a place to take spin and yoga classes as I traveled to Destin for a wedding over the weekend. After a bit of searching I found Balance Health Studio, which had great reviews from other yelpers. I emailed the studio because I had a couple of questions and received prompt and friendly responses. I decided to sign up online for the two classes. The price was so good I figured even if I decided not to do one I wouldn't belabor the money lost, particularly since the classes I take at home in NYC are almost twice the price. On Saturday I arrived 15 minutes early and was greeted by a friendly staff member at the front desk. The space was clean and organized with a light scent of eucalyptus in the air. I was pointed towards the spin studio upstairs where bikes and towels awaited me. I setup my bike and took it for a little spin before the class started - smooth - perfect. The class turned out to be small this day so I figured the instructor would take it easy - not so much! She led us straight into the fire of burning thighs and sweat dripping from our faces (mine at least) and I was loving it! I was just as spent leaving there as I am after my regular Sunday Soul Cycle class where the instructor basically goes straight uphill for 45 minutes. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the instructor and would be in her all of the time if I lived even remotely close. On Sunday I decided to take the "Spicy Vinyasa" yoga class even though I am not really what one would call a "yogi". Actually, I can barely touch my toes some days. In fact, I got a massage the day before and the guy asked me if I was resisting or if I really just couldn't bend my leg any further. It was the latter, but I figured, "what the heck" I'm gonna get in there and do it anyway (despite the warning via email from Balance that it was not really a beginners' class). I arrived early again and there were people waiting to get a spot in the class, which had a waitlist it was so full. The spice factor is a heated room so I was right back into sweat dripping off of my nose about 10 minutes into class. Despite being a novice, I found the class really enjoyable. The instructor was great about guiding us to the point of challenging ourselves, but not over-doing it to the point of getting hurt. She was constantly walking the room to encourage some and help others, all in a very warm and welcoming tone. It was the first yoga class that I have taken where I wasn't self-conscious about not being at the same level as everyone else - and believe me, I was not. But in that class, it was all good. If I am ever in the area again I will definitely be back at Balance Health Studio. I walked in not really sure what to expect and was thoroughly impressed on both visits. read more
