I have to say that everyone working at this place is amazing. The front desk has a good name recognition and Kristine is amazing. Kristine is a great PT and she is very thorough with the assignments. I am actually having fun and it is a bittersweet because If I am well, that being said I don't need PT anymore but I will be able to move properly again without any pain. I'm doing physical therapy with Kristine my new therapist... from day 1 she told me we will be doing physical therapy but different.. The nerve grows back at 1 millimeter surgery . She was amazing, told me what we would be doing therapy to care for the other muscles in you legs, At every step she would have me do different exercises and adding mor then do physical therapy at balance therapy... in no time it felt great. In December 2023 decided to do my surgeon on the left knee. The next morning, the hospital therapist got me out of bed to start walking with a walker. A few paces walking I looked at my left leg and foot. The foot was Flopping all over. No control. He said I had "drop foot. Sometimes during the operation.. Cuts or smashes the nerve from the knee to the foot. The next morning the surgeon said I did not do it.. he said it could be the anthologist , or the surgery staff that did tourniquet that pit it on to tight or left it on to long. You will be in therapy for up to a year.. I stayed in the hospital till December 31, 2024. Went home and back to balance Therapy and I got Kristine. She was just ama read more

Deeply compassionate staff. I worked with supremely knowledgeble Joey to determine my ankle did need complete ankle replacement at UCSF. After that took place Brandon worked with me for months to loosen my very stiff tendons, muscle and surgery scars. It was a joy to see him twice a week, because he is skilled and authentic in his communication. He always surprised me in his perceptiveness, consciously observing nearly every move to remind me to move my feet and ankles in a therapeutic way. I worked with Nikky Gonzales under some very challenging circumstances. First, there were the circumstances of the injury/surgery: a multi-ligament knee reconstruction which took 5-6 hours to address a totally torn ACL and MCL, partially torn meniscus, and damaged lateral capsule. Then, there were the circumstances of my care: we started two weeks post-op after I traveled from Houston to Carmel, so already I was out of the immediate care of my doctor and their PT team. Oh yeah, and my wife was seven months pregnant at the time and her 65+ parents were with us...during a pandemic, which per everyone's doctors' orders meant I had to try and find someone to work me out at home outside! Despite lack of access to the equipment PTs are used to using in clinic, Nikky was able to get creative, adapt, and keep my recovery on track. Over the six weeks we worked together, Nikky coordinated this tricky situation with my PT back in Houston (who has 35 years of experience) and my surgeon, who is the medical director for the Houston Astros, assistant team orthopedist for the Houston Texans, and the former president of Major League Baseball's Team Physician Association. I mention this all to say that expectations from my care team were *very* high, the circumstances were very challenging, and Nikky totally rose to the challenge with everyone (including me) being very happy with the results and thankful for Nikky's great care, creativity, and thoughtfulness. I just love this place. The therapists are very knowledgeable and personable. What they do actually makes a difference. They don't just go through the motion, they care and do their job. I have worked with Byanca and Joey. They are the best. Make sure your doctor refers you to Balance PT. They get the job done well. In addition, the facilities are very clean and the staff is friendly (I go to both locations Monterey and Salinas.) I wished I had been sent to them straight away for my Workers Comp, I would have recovered way faster. After a couple of months at another place where I was very disappointed by an unfortunate event, I asked to be sent to Balance PT. Oh what a difference! I have graduated, but still go there on a Fit Plan which helps me maintain by doing the exercises that my therapist design for me. read more

When I first met up with Dr. Sara Long at the Monterey clinic on Fremont Blvd., I knew we were going to be a good fit. In lieu of the my opting for the surgery route, Dr.Long carefully proposed and explained a plan of care for my right knee to function. The plan was to build up muscle to support the meniscus tear. This plan, two year hence, proved well for me. Daily exercises keep it healthy. Subsequently, I had to return for another problem, a torn plantar fascia on my left foot. After some treatment by my podiatrist, Dr. Michelle Kraft, I was scheduled for PT. I was thankful that I could return for Dr. Long's care. She again, explained the process and the plan for me to regain strength and healing for my foot. I have just had a couple of visits along with my "homework" and have already felt better and the pain has decreased. Dr. Long is a kind and professional practioner who keenly listens and offers hope when I needed it most. I highly recommend Dr. Sara Long. read more

I was referred to Balance for a torn miniscus in my knee diagnosed based on an MRI. Upon initial examination, the PT told me it *might* be torn but the real problem was tendinitis and he gave me some exercises based on that "diagnosis" and said I'd be fine within a week. I didn't know any better but it was not his job to diagnose, it had already been diagnosed and he was supposed to give me a regimen for a torn miniscus not tendinitis. 3 days later doing the exercises my knee felt worse than it had in weeks and I could barely walk. I returned to my doctor who was incredulous the PT had "decided" that it was tendinitis despite a doctors diagnosis based on an MRI. I called the office to complain and they told me they'd get me in with a "better" PT... really? I would have assumed anyone practicing at that clinic would be qualified, I guess not. Anyways I will be filing a grievance with the licensing board. The PT was waaaaaay out of bounds by changing my diagnosis. Several other doctors couldn't believe it. Now my recovery time has been set back for weeks and I am an aspiring professional athlete. I will not be returning to this office ever again. read more

This is one of the coldest office staff I have ever met. These people have the nerve to be jerks whenever they want. First of all get a good front staff that isn't filled with unhappy losers who couldn't do anything better with the amount of education they have. My pt at Balance, Joey along with his wonderful assistant Meghan, helped me not only regain my physical strength, so I could dance again, but also helped me regain the confidence and trust in my body that I had lost from my injury. Ballet physical therapy isn't what they specialized in at Balance; however, despite that Joey did research outside of our sessions to understand my physical requirements as a ballet dancer in order to better treat me. He really went above and beyond to make sure I left each session stronger than before. This experience is even one of the reasons why I want to pressure my doctorate in physical therapy. Place has a great atmosphere with great staff! My therapist was very informing and made me feel very comfortable at every visit.

I received 4 calls (one automated) before my appointment and several reminders when I arrived all focused on payment. I think the actual physical therapist was good but this facility is definitely focused on payment first, patients second. They didn't take my insurance (Anthem Blue Cross) and I had to fill out more paperwork than I had to for the actual surgery. Again, physical therapist and facility was good but intro and lead in sucked. I won't go back. read more
