we have used the end of life service from Terri Sue Wright . she was excellent. our animals were comfortable with her. and she treated them beautifully. currently our dog has seen her from six months old. she is now 8. we decided if we ever had a new pet, we would see her. yes, it is different. yes, it can be more expense. but is it? our dog is healthy. we follow her plan. the vet gets on the floor and checks the dog. while rubbing and talking to her. it is so nice. the dog is completely at ease. we go once a year for the annual check up. I don't buy flea treatments. she never has them. I get all information of healthy food. I do not have to brush my dogs teeth. they and gums are always good. she has no issues of constipation or runs. she never has dog breath, or smelly coat. i put all of this on her food. the staff here is wonderful also. it really is a great place. read more

I have nothing but good things to say about the vet techs and other staff. They were very attentive and responsive to all of our needs. Dr Terri Sue tried very hard to help our Basset who has numerous skin lumps. We'd tried Western medicine for years, which helped very little and she had great ideas about supporting our dog's health with raw food and supplements. Some of the treatments were a bit unconventional but I was willing to go for it and we had a lot of hope. Unfortunately, after six months, the treatment didn't help and she got worse. We decided to see a specialist at OVRA, who incidentally said she'd never seen a dog as bad as ours -- she had 22 lumps all over her body -- twice as many as when we'd started treatment with Balance. Unfortunately, when Dr Terri Sue found out that we were seeing a specialist (we told her), she said they would "poison" our dog and fired us as patients despite my attempt to use both modes of treatment to optimize Stella's chances for good health. That left a negative impression with me. I'm a health care provider and welcome second opinions and often send my patients to specialists. That she doesn't do the same unfortunately makes me think less of her as a professional and a doctor. I wish we could still see her because she has a passion to give animals the best care, but I feel she's very single minded in her approach to care. read more

Recently had interactions with a vet hospital for a particular procedure. It is a new procedure and only few vets in the state do it. After 3 phone calls and in office consultation. We find out the vet has never done this procedure and finds no benifit in it. Coming home feeling frustrated, mislead and lied to. Prompted me to update my review here for our beloved Balance Vet care. The staff here is courteous, compassionate, and knowledgeable. Terri Sue has a natural love for all fur babies and their ultimate health is her goal. While my dog had cancer I was looking for help. I ended up calling Balance Vetrinary Care. I was interested in some of the services they offer. They setup a quick phone call with the vet to cover there treatments like hydro therapy and what supplements they offer. We spoke for a TOTAL of 8 minutes. I was sent a $200 bill after with no warning prior to the call this would be the cost. I received no communication this phone call would cost me money let alone $200 for 8 minutes. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. They are not upfront and completely took advantage of me in a very tough time. read more

Just got back home from balance veterinary care for my cat that had an abscess. I am so happy I brought my cat here, I've been searching for YEARS for a place like this. Everyone is so kind and welcoming, they are extremely helpful and take the time to really examine your pet. She gave me a bunch of alternatives to save money and help my kitty in the long run. The worst thing that happened during my Dog's visit to Teri Sue was that she slapped him HARD across the face, when he got excited over a dog in the other room. He was barking and jumping around, as he does, and as I have told her multiple times. It seems to me that she milks clients for money without actually trying to solve health issues of the pet. I have had a couple different appointments with her about me dog's back leg problems that developed a couple months ago. She has not thoroughly examined him, nor taken any x-rays to asses what could be wrong. I sent her multiple videos of his legs while walking and she 1. Did not avail herself of those videos, and 2. Told me she didn't really see the problem when I walked him up and down the sidewalk for her evaluation. She proceeded to tell me, incorrectly, that since he is still a puppy (he is FOUR YEARS OLD), not to worry, and that he just needs to walk on different terrain to strengthen his mind body connection. After having driven TWO HOURS for her to see him, and having clearly stated the reasons for the visit, 1. Problem with his back legs, and 2. Itchy coat, neither of those issues were evaluated or treated to my satisfaction. She then charged me $170 for basically nothing. Over the past FOUR visits I have had with her, she has consistently got his information wrong, such as his age, his appointment history with her, etc. It is clear to me that she does not prepare for appointments, nor look at his information before the visits. So, in conclusion, if you like to sneeze away money, and have your dog hit, this is the place for you! read more

Absolutely loved the services here, with a few smaller complaints. Here's a little background of my situation: My 7 year old Maine Coone has had horrible skin problems for the last 2 years. I had taken him to several other vets and was extremely disappointed with a lack of results after spending thousands of dollars trying to make him feel better. Other vets had recommended everything from steroidal injections to a daily allergy med to dental care. at this point we knew it was allergy related but weren't sure how to fix it. He will refuse pills of all kinds, even with a pill gun he would force himself to vomit up almost every med we tried. Injections were our next course of action but he can't be on steroids since he's already a big boy with a thyroid problem and the antihistamine injections did next to nothing. Teri Sue treated Grr almost a year ago. She took one look at him and knew exactly what he needed. We bought him a six dollar over the counter feline allergy tincture and believe it or not it worked like a charm! She let us know his condition is absolutely allergies and he was experiencing skin crawling feelings that made him rip out huge chunks of his gorgeous fur. She also recommended a CBD tincture since the chewing started to become a habit. This essentially cured my handsome boy and he's doing so much better! The only reason I gave 4 stars was the extreme push for a complex and expensive diet plan. It felt a little too money grabbing, as there are cheaper ways to do pretty much the same diet. It's also basically raw feeding your cat which is super healthy but only if done super super carefully and some cats will just flat out refuse it since they love the carbs in cat food. She's not giving false information by any means but is pretty pushy to use her specific diet plan and brand despite there being cheaper ways to get the same raw feeding results. All in all, I am super happy we found a solution and she was super kind to my kitty. My advice is to make sure you do lots of research on raw diets before buying her expensive recommended brands and to make sure you've got the extra money to spend. It becomes as expensive as feeding a human child if not more expensive if you only use her recommended products when there are cheaper products that do the same thing. Raw diets aren't for everyone and every pet, but it is a super healthy switch if you can swing the costs. I use the milk she sells and found equivalent cheaper online fermented milk that has the same benefits and put that into their food like a daily supplement and that seems to be more than enough for a healthy diet. read more

My husband and I took our 2 yr. old Belgian Sheppard in for his annual check up expecting him to receive 3 vaccines and his nails clipped. Neither one of these were completed. The rapport b/t our dog and the vet was horrible from the start as she continually scolded him and told us not to get involved while she sternly disciplined him. I found this very offensive. At times we found her to be too physically rough with him! Hes quite a hyperactive dog considering his breed. Not taking this into consideration, she appeared frustrated while unsuccessfully attempting clip his nails. It was quite apparent there was no rapport between her and our dog. She was very rough with him and unnecessarily stern. Normally hes a very gentle, kind dog but her handling him resulted in him actually showing his teeth. He was scared of her! Equally upsetting, was the fact she monopolized the majority of our time attempting to convince us how we must put him on this very specific highly expensive complicated diet of all raw foods (no kibble) which requires us to visit a butcher and farm that provides these meats and bones left over and goats milk. Nothing store bought! She went on at nauseum with her sales pitch on how we MUST place him on this specific diet for no reason whatsoever but to fulfill her personal environmental agenda. Mind you, we were only there for an annual visit. We thought the entire visit would take, at most, 30 minutes. However, her speech went on and on for 45 minutes! By the conclusion of her presentation we were informed she charges an exorbitant fee per hour rather than by visit and she pressed us to purchase 3 of the 5 products she endorsed. Meanwhile, she failed to complete what was required and requested of her(his shots and nails clipped)! By the conclusion of her sales pitch we were then informed she charges this exorbitant fee by the hour rather than a flat fee by visit as most vets charge. By the conclusion of our visit we realized nothing was going to be done about his shots or nails. She wanted to postpone that for his next visit.Next visit?! There was no reason a perfectly healthy dog would need an additional visit! All the while her attitude was patronizing, egotistical condescending and just overtly RUDE. She talk AT us like we were stupid while she was quick to get frustrated and anger by our lack of knowledge Mind you we kept letting her know she was presenting us with way more info than we could digest in one sitting. She replied "well its not that complicated its all in my handouts". Her handouts consisted of least 25 pgs of useless crap! Overall, our visit left us feeling frustrated insulted and unproductive. We will certainly NOT be returning to this establishment only to be talked down to, insulted and forced to abide by her ridiculous regimine of dog care. I could see if our dog was gravely ill had to be placed on a specific diet dog due to allergies or a health concern like cancer. However, our belief is that our dog is happy healthy and in great shape and this has been confirmed by our prior vet where we used to live before moving to Eugene. Our previous vet consistently assured us our dog was in optimum health and complimented us on what a great job we were doing as pet owners. This visit was most disturbing and a complete waste of time and money. Im still fuming at the nerve of this vet! Her poor condescending behavior and her horrible rapport with our well behaved dog is the worst. She most definitely has terrible bedside manner with no skills on how to handle animals nor does she exhibit any compassion for them. She was mean and unprofessional. Since moving to Eugene two years ago, we've been taking our two canine family members to Balance Veterinary Care in Eugene. The small, cozy atmosphere and personable reception make it comfortable for us human parents as well as our fuzzy family members. She is so down-to-earth and creates a comfortable atmosphere with her calm nature which in turn helps keep the pups calm. She gets plenty of puppy kisses and tail wags in return. Very impressed with the time spent in Lulu's examination. Dr. Wright was extremely thorough, She examined Lulu head to toe, assessing her skin, coat, paw pads as well as the usual eyes, ears and lungs. I can honestly say that no vet we have ever taken Lulu to in 11 years of life, including many specialist diplomates, have ever taken so much time nor asked so many questions. Dr. Wright blends traditional veterinary science with a more holistic approach which is what we are looking for. I also like her honesty and practical common sense. We always want to do everything we can to keep our animals healthy but some treatments pushed by vets are solely money making for them, the incidence of the disease being treated being less than 0.1% in urban environments. Dr. Wright is very practical and tells you straight out that some of these treatments are unnecessary and should be replaced with just an annual test. Balance also has a funky but very comfortable examination space. And we loved the examining table that went up with a hydraulic lift. So much easier for old codgers like us to put the dog on the low table than have to hoist 74 lbs up on the traditional type. read more

We had to have our sweet dog put to sleep yesterday - my first experience with that so I had incredible anxiety about it. A friend recommended we work with Dr. Terri Sue Wright from Balance Vet (My Home Vet) and I am so grateful that we did. The person who took my call was so kind and helpful - she knew exactly how to walk me through setting up the appointment and she gave me peace of mind. When Terri showed up at our home, she immediately demonstrated the demeanor that put us at ease. She looked very professional and had a very welcoming personality. She came in and greeted us and our dog with compassion and a tone that showed she understood what a monumental experience this was for us. She explained everything that would happen - again, with incredible compassion. Her word choices were so appropriate and thoughtful. She was very tender with our little dog and we knew we were in good hands. We were a mess of tears, but she made us feel so comfortable to be who we needed to be through the process. She treated us and our dog with such dignity and respect. Honestly, for it being one of the worst days of our lives, Terri made it as good as it could be. They are very organized and friendly. They gave me reminders about my appointment leading up to it which I appreciate. The vet is very good with your pet and kids! I love their room that opend like a garage to the outdoor. This set up put my dog at ease. She was very thorough and took the time to listen to all our concerns about our dogs issues and she even investigatd and gave recommendations for ailments we weren't their for this time. She was able to point out right away some things we were doing that was not helping our dog get better. Dr. Teri Sue Wright is a holistic practitioner who believes that diet and exercise are the best medicines for your animal. Our 7-year-old Rex standard poodle (110 lbs.) has had infections and yeast issues with his ears for years. We're careful to see that groomers don't let water accumulate in his ears, and Emma at Murphy's Paw is a godsend. She is conscientious and talented as a groomer, and Bodhi loves her. Teri Sue recommended that we adopt a keto diet for Bodhi, eating more raw food and uncooked chicken and non-weight-bearing beef and lamb bones. We have always given him cooked meat, Orijen dry food and plenty of fruits and vegetables. Teri Sue gave us a complete diet with detailed instructions, and Bodhi is thriving on it. Dr. Teri Sue makes house calls which is very important for my cat's health. He suffers from motion sickness when traveling in a car making a proper diagnosis difficult. She was kind, helped us thru the grieving and gave us tips to help our other feline thru the process of missing his pal.
