Like the other bad reviews on here, I also agree that Dee has no people skills at all. But like the other reviews I also don't think she is a good dog trainer either. If you want to carry your dog around in sling, then she's the trainer for you. If you want to have a dog then I suggest looking elsewhere. She does her training through FaceTime, which maybe some people like that method. But I personal did not. She did do an Amazon list which at first a thought was great, until everything she recommended was too small for my dog, since she never met him in person. I did send her a video the day we brought him home. So if you can't tell how big or small a dog is from video, you should probably do in person meetings. I wasted so much money on her Amazon recommendations. Her way of training I guess works if you have all the time in the world to spend with your dog. We were having constant accidents in the house. He was nipping constantly. When I asked for advice, her response was always to send her a video. After a few weeks, I spoke with another trainer. He walked through step by step of what to do. Since my call with him, we had not one accident. After one in home session our puppies nipping has drastically decreased and he gave us the right tools to stop it. Dee is not kind to you. After our first FaceTime call, she was mean to me. If you question anything she says, she gets upset with you instead of explaining the reason behind it. Even my son said after the call, "that lady was really mean to you". When you pay someone, you don't expect to get verbally abused. My stress level increased every time I communicated with her. The day I told her I didn't want to work with her, I felt relieved. She makes you pay up front and you will not get any money back if you don't want to continue working with her. I was reluctant to hire a dog trainer through Zoom, but I have to say I underestimated what I thought could be accomplished. With the help of Dee, our dog Rocky accomplished everything we had hoped for and then some. When we walk our dog in the neighborhood it's obvious Rocky has been trained, especially when encountering other dogs that have not. One of the things I enjoy most is playing fetch with my pitbull, something a pitbull normally doesn't do and even though he had the ability in the beginning to fetch the ball, he wouldn't bring it back until we started working on it and now I can honestly say He's the best dog fetcher and Bring'er back'er in the business. I've been fortunate enough to have several dogs in my lifetime, all of whom I trained on my own. A quick update since it's been a little over a year since Dee took us on for walking and other behavioral training and I'm happy to announce that the training has stuck! When I first adopted Breck (who is 85 lb), I thought my arm would fall off because he pulled on the leash so much. Even worse, he knocked me down (bruises and scrapes and all) a few times trying to go after cats and squirrels. I signed up for Dee to come by for 2x/week walking sessions where she would take Breck out and teach him out to walk on a leash, correcting him step by step if necessary. Even more importantly, she taught me how to handle Breck on a leash, and how to "correct" him if he relapsed. Within weeks, Breck was barely pulling on the leash. Now, Breck is the perfect walker who doesn't ever pull at all and only stops to sniff and eliminate when I say it's OK. I also literally can't remember the last time he gave into his prey drive! The other very important thing that Dee encouraged us through was crate training. I was a little doubtful of the necessity of a giant 4 foot crate in my apartment, especially when Breck showed intense fear of the crate and wouldn't get near it. However, Dee highly recommended it and showed me how to slowly woo Breck into the crate by throwing special treats and eventually feeding him from the crate (starting at the entrance and eventually moving the bowl to the back). Now I completely see how right Dee was, since the crate is so clearly Breck's "safe" haven where he goes to rest, or where he runs to when he's nervous. What a total racket!! I hired her for her expertise when it came to dogs and then midway through a very substantial package of walk and sessions, she told me that one of my dogs would need additional training. That's the old bait and switch. Most of the training didn't address the issue I came to her for and you would think that after a two hour evaluation (which ALONE cost me $250), she would be able give me an accurate idea of the problem and what was needed for the solution. I thought that was the point of the evaluation! At that point I could have decided whether it was worth it or not, instead she waited until half way trough until another "problem" revealed itself. When I told her how uncomfortable I was with this situation, I tried to contact her over what I thought was a fair solution: I would pay her for what work she had done so far and she could refund me the rest of the money via prorate. She has completely ignored my several requests for a refund of my unused package especially give by my calculations she owes me close to $1000 (give or take) or the equivalent services. STAY AWAY - good dog trainer but toxic person I want to preface this review by saying I've only written one other yelp review and TBH have always been kind of skeptical of people who do. That said, I can't, in good conscience, not write this review and let someone else sign up for this trainer without knowing our experience. TLDR: Dee is a good dog trainer - she will treat your dog well and give you some of the skills you need to train them but her toxic personality will overwhelm the experience and you. She is a poor communicator, has a highly negative presence, and focuses her training on chastising and blaming you rather than getting results. She willfully hustled and misled us, accused us of committing crimes, and then implicitly threatened us and our family. I honestly believe that this is a pattern given how fluently she navigated the demise of our working together. Here is the full story (in brief as there is a novel to write here). We brought our 10 week rescue pup to Dee during quarantine. We were worried about socialization and she was fearful and biting quite a lot. Dee convinced us that puppy school was the right approach, so much so that we purchased her most expensive program and paid up front. Dee quickly flipped the script on us, telling us our dog was too anxious and fearful for puppy school and that she needed a "pre puppy genius program" that after a number of visits she sent us a wholly confusing pricing email about pricing to which we responded, attempting to clarify, and received no response. (Note: when we later forwarded this email to her, noting that we had attempted to clarify pricing, she "questioned the authenticity" of it.) When we had to relocate for the summer to the east coast to be with family amidst COVID, we assumed that the nearly $3,000 we had paid for the puppy genius program would have been sufficient to cover all the services rendered (services that did not come close to what we had paid for as part of "puppy genius"). Instead, Dee accused us of attempting to "steal" more than a thousand dollars from her "after agreeing to terms by continuing with training." When we suggested we had been more than fair, she google stalked our family and leveled implicit threats against us. This is all after a course of training that can only be described as toxic and emotionally abusive, with Dee consistently talking down to us, shaming us when we did something when we "did the diametric opposite of what she recommended," changing schedules constantly and at the last minute, and never giving us even close to what we paid for. All in all, save yourself thousands of dollars and infinitely more in mental health trouble and find a different trainer. I just came here to leave my review on Dee, and I am honestly shocked at the 2 recent negative reviews. Not because I disagree with them, but because I thought I must have been the only one to have a terrible experience with her. All the other reviews were SO positive. After going through her program, I wouldn't recommend her to anyone. If you are considering using her, please read this very long review. First off, let me say that I have never left a Yelp review before. I felt obligated to leave one now because I know that the prior positive reviews are what ultimately made me make my decision to utilize Dee and her program. I want to make sure people can make as educated decision as possible before giving her any more money. Also, in fairness, I want to make sure I say that I used Dee during quarantine. It was not her typical program. All of the training sessions were over facetime, rather than in person. I understand this could make things much more difficult. Now here's my story... I came to Dee with a 12 week old Rottweiler mix puppy, who I'd had for a month. This was my first time having a dog, other than when growing up as a kid. I was honest with her about this from the very beginning and was extremely open to any and all coaching from her. She's the expert of course. I had done a ton of research online on how to do basic training (still needed some advice on it), but I was having a hard time bonding with him and wanted to get advice on how to develop the best possible relationship with him. I purchased her 2nd tier package for $2,000. The package was advertised as including eight 1-hour training sessions and eight 5-hour puppy play schools over a 16 week period, as well text and phone support for 24 weeks. I want to start with the positives: - Dee is extremely knowledgeable about dogs. Her program is all about leadership training. A lot of her ideas for training seemed to come from a background of how a dog would act "in the wild", which makes total sense. Her methods were about establishing that we are the dogs parent/alpha through positive, respectful reinforcement - Dee was usually very responsive via text. She would answer my questions quickly and would generally follow up with articles to further explain training - Dee created an Amazon list for me that was an absolute life saver. Food, toys, equipment, you name it. She put it all on there and updated it frequently Now on to the negatives: - Dee was unbelievably condescending and rude. She was constantly talking down to me and making me feel like I had no idea what I was doing. Which, to be fair, I didn't; however considering I hired her as a private trainer, I would have expected much more positive guidance rather than toxic correction. It got to the point that I didn't want to tell her about the issues I was having because of fear of her making me feel terrible and guilty for making mistakes...training my first dog...ever. Towards the end of the program we had an actual argument on facetime because of how she spoke to me - I hate to say this, but Dee, from the very beginning, was constantly trying to manipulate me into giving her more money. As I mentioned, the package included eight 5-hour puppy play schools. This is where I would drop Braxton off at her house to socialize with her dogs as well as one other puppy going through training with her. At the very beginning of the program, she recommended that I use 2 play schools the 1st week and 4 the 2nd week. What...? Then I've used 6 of my 8 play schools in only 2 weeks? We ended up doing 2 play schools per week. Throughout the program she was constantly recommending that I buy more play school sessions from her. She was telling me that he was benefiting from it greatly. To be perfectly honest, I have no idea what he actually did there for 5 hours. She would send me a couple pictures and videos of him playing with the other puppy, but that's it. I asked her nicely once or twice "what they worked on today", and she got extremely defensive and rude. I even asked her a couple times to send me videos of her doing specific training on things I needed help with. She flat out told me no - There was no sort of organization or schedule with the virtual training sessions. We'd hop on facetime for an hour and it was a total free for all. To be fair, I did have a ton of questions. We'd go over them at the beginning of most sessions; but other than that, there was very little specific guidance from her on how the training was supposed to progress. I worked with Dee over the course of a month until I finally stopped reaching out. I didn't even utilize the last 3 training sessions. I definitely did learn a lot from her about training methods, how to handle a puppy, food, toys, and equipment - but I would absolutely never go back to her again in the future. When we don't understand (thick humans!), she talks it out with us very patiently. Her brilliant solution for the crying puppy was to leave a light on. Simple and successful. She's shown us she has great judgment! She warned me against taking my puppy to training class too soon after the puppy arrived because Puppy wouldn't have bonded with me yet. It seemed counterintuitive to me: I thought the earlier, the better! I didn't take her advice and started to train her with poor results until having to quit for unrelated reasons. He doesn't beg he doesn't stress or have anxiety he is obedient knows a ton of tricks, listens to me and follows orders, is patient and kind, I attribute this to how safe he felt as a puppy (due to following all of Dees advice) and how much he enjoyed learning with Dee. I cannot say enough good things about Dee! She has been an incredible asset for myself and my boyfriend while we dealt with the challenges of a new puppy. Dee makes herself incredibly available and offers support for all aspects of training. She is incredibly knowledgable and fully cares about dogs and their wellbeing. She worked with us to get our puppy house trained, as well as leash-walking, obedience, and general health. As I write this review, my hilarious dog is resting his head in my lap. Bruno had an amazing journey with Dee Green. He was the worst puppy I have ever had. He was a king of terrible ideas, perpetually hungry (it didn't even have to be food), but the hardest thing of all, he wouldn't cuddle with me. I had never had such a squirrelly dog in my life. He also thought and problem solved like a human, not an animal. I cannot lie, he scared me. Well, the amazing Dee came into our home, did an evaluation, and when I told her that I had already resigned myself to owning the worst dog ever, she laughed at me. Dee for President!!! I have the world's most stubborn and anxious shih tzu. Bless his soul and he's cute as a button, but my gf and I (we're first timers raising our own pup) were struggling with the most mundane tasks. Walking was nearly impossible. Reactivity was off the charts (he's a rescue). It's hard for me to say, but our dog wasn't happy. Dee has revamped our relationship with our dog. It feels like the line of communication is now open and we're all the better for it. What used to be impossible, is now enjoyable (a simple walk). When I first met Dee for a preliminary consultation almost 5 years ago I was having trouble with my Frenchie who was stubborn, but more concerning, he had terrible digestive issues. Dee has been a real life changer for my family. My wife and I adopted an adult German Shepherd mix about a year ago, and were shocked when he started displaying aggressive behavior toward other dogs and people after a few months of being home with us. It got so bad that we could hardly take him on a walk without him lunging at a passerby or trying to attack another dog. He even bit me on one occasion when I tried to get between him and another dog. When we found Dee we were exhausted from training classes and other "behavioral" dog trainers that had tried in vain to use treats to get him to stop. Dee was completely different. She was warm and a good listener, and we could immediately see our dog respond well to her when she walked into our home. We were skeptical about signing up for a training package because we didn't have a lot of money, but after doing a little research we realized that Dee's package was actually quite reasonable compared to other trainers'. We got together the money, and it's the best decision we have ever made. The first thing that Dee did was take our dog for walks without us to teach him how to loose leash walk. It only took two weeks and we didn't have to do a thing! At the end of two weeks she taught us how to walk with the dog ourselves with a special collar she suggested we get. With some practice, we were able to loose leash walk our dog, which decreased his reactivity almost instantly. Dee also guided us as we set up our house to make our dog feel safe. Little changes in how we fed him and where we placed his bed made a huge difference in his behavior on the street. The last step of the process was the reactivity training, which is going great. The other day we had a session with Dee where our dog laid down quietly in a park while other dogs, people on bicycles, and loud cars passed right by him! Dee has been a lifesaver to our family! My husband and I have a 2 1/2 year old, 85 lb. Bernese shepherd mix who has some territorial and anxiety issues. She is generally a lovely girl who loves to play with other dogs and shower our friends and family with love and kisses, but has always been fiercely possessive of us and our home. At times, she has been scary and aggressive. This January, we were sent a post about a sweet rot/swiss mountain dog/lab/? mix boy who was scheduled to be put down at the Lancaster shelter. We put our names on the back up list for him in case he wasn't rescued and late one night we were called because his potential adoptive parents never showed. We weren't quite prepared for him, especially since, despite ample outdoor space, we have a very small home AND a territorial dog. I found Dee on yelp that morning. We spoke as my husband and I drove to Lancaster. She gave me a few pointers and set up a neutral meeting for the dogs at a local park that same day. She was so warm, accommodating and supportive! We were very stressed, never having met this big guy and she encouraged us every step of the way. Dee was imperative to the first meeting and subsequent few week long introduction of our dogs. They are both powerful breeds and we had a few hiccups because of their personalities, but Dee coached us through, tweaking our reactions, suggesting new behaviors and assessing their progress through those first weeks. She called to check in and was always available to answer our questions. Had she not helped us, I don't know what we would have done! Within that first month, thanks to her, we had regained order in our household, discovered our own sense of quiet confidence with the dogs and were enjoying two large furry buddies who share toys, chase each other and snuggle up for TV time. Oh sweet relief and happiness! Since our initial transition with Dee, our new pound pup, who had always been a bit hand shy, has started to show signs of aggression towards men. Dee Green was incredible. I took on the daunting task of raising two cattle dog puppies. It was a lot to take on and Dee helped me tremendously I learned lots of fundamentals about fostering a healthy relationship with dogs, being able to walk them, how to gain their obedience and loyalty. We were in search of someone who could help us train our brand new Maltipoo puppy, who at just shy of 8 weeks old, was in need of special care to ensure she got off on the right foot. We searched the West Side area for trainers specializing in "puppy schools" and found Dee through her website, which provided a wealth of information to start with. We had a consultation and quickly new Dee was the perfect fit to help us -- it was clear that her vast experience would help our puppy (Riley) get where we wanted her to be. She had a clear vision of what we should expect and she delivered on everything she promised us. We're just now nearing the end of our 8-week puppy school and Riley is turning out to be a very well behaved, and well adjusted little puppy. Not only did Dee train Riley on all the normal things; including tricks, house training, how to walk on a leash, socialization etc. -- but also helped train us as her doggy parents to communicate properly with her and how to best address future issues that may arise. I also love the fact that her training is very consistent and includes near daily sessions to keep things on track. She also took Riley to her home twice a week for "puppy play school" with other dogs to ensure she was properly socialized, which we believe made an enormous impact on how well behaved she is around new people, dogs and experiences overall.
