They charged me $400 to service my furnace and A/C and told me everything was in working order. A month later when I turned on the A/C, the compressor did not work. I called them to ask them to come back and repair it, and asked that they not charge me again for travel time (although I said I would pay for parts and labor) because when they had previously "serviced" it, it was supposedly in working order. "Sorry," said the woman I spoke with, "Other companies may do that, but that's not how we do business." In other words, this company will charge you once to come out and NOT fix your air conditioner, and then they will charge you a SECOND TIME to come back and do it again. What a ripoff! read more

Balanced had a tech out that day, spent a couple hours going over the system with me, installed a couple thermostats, labeled our Circuit breakers and talked us thru routine if it goes out again. My furnace died the other week during a recent cold spell. Called up balance HVAC when I woke up to a freezing cold house and they had someone over within an hour. Matt did an awesome job quickly diagnosing and fixing the problem. He also confirmed what I suspected which was that the furnace was very old and would ultimately have to be replaced very soon. I got a quote from them as well as two other local HVAC companies. Balanced HVAC not only had a very competitive quote, but Lincoln Stubbs (owner) personally came out on Saturday with some of his guys to squeeze in the install for me given the pending dropping temperatures the following wk. I had a terrible experience with a different local company-installed a furnace incorrectly-technician wouldn't come-and finally did and "fixed the problem" furnace caught on fire. I contacted Balanced Hvac and they were awesome. Technicians were reliable, personable, and most importantly, they knew how to do their job! Wow!! My new furnace was installed quickly, they added the necessary return duct, and job completed - no stress. Quoted us a little under $26,000.00 to install 6 mitsubishi minis inside and 2 units outside with cloud wi fi controls for a house just under 1600 square feet. Did not include the cost to upgrade the electric panel that would likely be needed. Wanted us to be responsible for filing to get the rebate after paying them in full. Won't be using them. read more

Just Had AC put in to our house and the guys at Balanced Hvac did a great job for us. The price was right , and worked with me to answer my many questions , and trust me I had a lot! They got the work done in about 4 or 5 hours. Everything was cleaned up and they left the place better than they found it. I recently bought a house with an HVAC system that Balanced installed about 3-4 years ago. I am refinishing the basement and called Balance to see if we had a big enough system to add vents into the basement. I had to wait a month for an appointment for one of their workers evaluate the system. The first thing he told me was that he was familiar with our house and system, and that the prior owners added the system with the intention of adding heat and air to their basement. This was something they could have told me when first called instead of making me wait over a month. Then he described the work that had to be done and said he would be sending me an estimate. I asked him for a ballpark figure, and when he told me it would take a day to install a new duct and zone and that it would cost about $5,000, I expressed my surprise at the cost. He clearly was not happy about my surprise over the cost, and the first words out of his mouth is that I should speak to other contractors for estimates, which I always do anyway. When he left, I told him to send me the estimate as soon as possible, which he said he would do. Now today, 4 days later, I received an email telling me they were too busy to do the work, and they did not even provide an estimate. This is either total bs, and they just don't want to do the work for me because I am just supposed to smile and say thank you when they give me a ball park estimate, or they truly are too busy, in which case they should have told me this from the outset rather than waiting over a month for an appointment and then another 4 days just to tell me how busy they are. read more

We had a horrible experience with this company. My husband & I noticed a strange odor coming from our heating ducts. We cleaned the filter, which admittedly hadn't been changed in several years. We also had new hardwood floors put in a few months ago and there was likely build up in the system. But it smelled like burning plastic or wax, so we called Balanced HVAC wanting to be sure it wasn't a more serious issue. Their technician came out and spent about an hour an a half mostly blabbering on about nothing useful...just seemed to like to hear himself talk and rack up time for the service call. I timed when he walked in the door and when he left, and it was less than 90 minutes, even with him doing a measurement for an estimate for a new furnace, even though I said I didn't want him to do that because the company's website says they do those for free and I was not going to pay $125/hour for him to do that. Of course he replied that he wouldn't charge for that and that it only takes five minutes (funny how a free service only takes five minutes but checking an odd smell took, according to him...two hours!!!). When he sat down to write the bill and enter the end time into his ipad, i again mentioned that I thought he wasn't going to charge us for the estimate and he laughed!!! He laughed and kept filling in his form. I was disgusted! I called the office to speak to Lincoln, the owner, and instead got a call back from the woman I originally made appointment with. She said she would take some time off and credit us, which she did, but it was only for 15 minutes. The guy did NOTHING helpful while here and even left the filter out of the unit, which did not seem like a good idea to me, so we put it back in. We also never received the estimate to replace our furnace, despite him taking the time on the paid service call to supposedly gather information for that. This was the first time we ever called this company and given the horrible experience we had, it will absolutely be our last. Buyer beware! read more

I was using another HVAC provider who opined that it would be wise to replace my current AC system due to a significantly low charge of R22 caused by a leak in the system. I called Balanced HVAC to give me a second estimate on replacing the system (likely in the thousands of dollars). Once they heard how the R22 charge was measured by the other provider - they decided to run their own test and determined that the system was fully charged and other than the need to replace an electrical component - the current AC system was in good shape. They quickly got the system up and running and it has worked beautifully all summer. Their charge was in the hundreds of dollars. Need I say more. They know what they are doing. We experienced a malfunction of our a.c. system on a Saturday in the height of a recent heat wave Called Balanced by chance who actually answered the phone. We decided to wait until Monday to address the problem as weekend rates are higher. Balanced contacted us on Monday early a.m. And sent a technician within an hour. The problem was diagnosed and we decided to repair the issue despite the age of the system.Matt worked non-stop for 3 hours. He even examined the entire system after completing the initial repair. He easily could have indicated the system needed to be replaced but instead salvaged it at a fraction of the cost. They were curteous, professional,knowledgeable, and motivated.....rare in this age of no show, no return calls, overcharging, and poor workmanship.
