When you're picking custom clothes, you're only working with small swatches, and unless you are especially gifted in design, it's hard to imagine what it will all look like together. So you have to trust your clothier. David knows what will look good on you -- what colors, what styles. I have trusted him, and I get many compliments. I am very happy with our selections. They are just right for my needs, personal and professional. A word about cost. Custom clothing is not cheap. I had to swallow hard. But I have had many other experiences where I paid just as much, and it didn't work out. In the case of Balani, you are getting what you pay for. No where else will you get a fully canvassed jacket for this price. I could roll my jackets up in a ball and sit on them for an hour, and they would still hang out and look great an hour later. I had never purchased a custom suit before. I will never go back to store bought again for two reasons. First, my clothier Alicia Stocks is fantastic. She does a great job of getting to know you and uses that knowledge to match you with the suits, shirts, etc. that match your goals, and that pair with your existing wardrobe. Furthermore, her attention to her clients and customer service is simply beyond reproach. For example, one evening I was finishing up work, when I remembered I had not gotten around to replacing my shoes (they badly needed it). I had an important meeting the following morning at 11 AM, and wasn't sure when I was going to find time in the morning to fix the situation. I reached out to Alicia at about 7 PM to explain my dilemma, and she met me at 9 AM the next morning with new shoes that paired perfectly with my suit, and which were ideal for the meeting I was headed to. The meeting went great, and I actually got complimented on my suit as well during the meeting (which, of course, was selected based on Alicia's sound advice). As that one anecdote demonstrates, Alicia genuinely cares about her clients and will go above and beyond. You won't find a better person to work with. Next, as you'd expect, the custom suits look fantastic. Balani does an incredible job with their tailoring, and the difference in materials from store bought is easy to see. Beyond materials and craftsmanship, however, Alicia's insight and advice were key in making the right decisions from a style perspective to get the most out of my suit. This was my first experience buying a custom suit. I've bought several suits off the rack over the years from Hugo Boss, DKNY and other name brands, but I have a slim/athletic build and they just never fit right. I needed a 3 piece suit for my wedding and I'm so glad I decided to go this route. Alicia helped me select the material and colors. She has a great eye for color and matching, which was helpful since there are so many nice options. When I received the suit, it did need some minor alterations. BALANI uses their own tailor who made the necessary alterations and it fit perfectly. They also not the alteration measurements so the next time you need to order it won't need to be altered. I've never had a suit fit so comfortably. I received so many compliments at our wedding and the other times I've worn it since. You can truly tell it's a quality custom suit, not just because it fits the way a suit should, but the little accents they add (different color stitching around buttonholes, lining, monogram, etc.) sets it apart. Owner of many suits...Versace, Hickey Freeman, Burberry, Ben Sherman, etc etc. I never thought I would go the route of getting totally custom suits and shirt combos. Glad I decided to make the transition, because I will never go back to buying them from a normal store (Nordstrom, Saks, etc). David Tinter was extremely knowledgeable about not only all the different styles and options, but how the apparel should fit and feel. He has a very good eye for colors and combinations, but also how they vary depending on body type and build. I couldn't be happier with how my suits+shirts look and feel. It is like night and day compared to buying them from a retail store. The service and help that David gave was obviously beyond anything you would get from any store..and the prices for everything are very comparable as well. I had the privilege of working with Alicia who I met at their downtown location. She took the time to explain all the fabrics and how they would work with my everyday lifestyle (I travel a lot for work and wear suits daily). After deciding on a fabric, I was measured and that was it! The whole process took under an hour. I even believe that if needed, she would travel to my home or office! As an ex linebacker, I've always had trouble finding suits and jackets that fit me. David was recommended to me by coworkers. I had an ititial consultation where I explained my needs, David took my measurements and then we walked through the process. To be able to pick the cut, the patterns and the colors was exciting, but nerve wracking as I didn't want to make a bad choice. I found Balani from a wall street blog review on custom clothing. I was looking for a new suit that was slim and fitted but not too aggressive. People were noting they were a newer player that had very good styles at solid prices relative to other custom options. I gave it a try and was not disappointed. Prices are reasonable and fabrics/fit are noticeably different compared to off-the-rack products. Have used them multiple times now for suits, sport coats, and dress pants. I first saw a Balani Custom suit on a wholesaler who calls on me regularly. He is a former football player, and his body shape is very hard to fit.
