That membership turned out to be the worst experience for her because she could never get the place to keep the appointments for her. They kept cancelling her appointments because the therapist was "under the weather" . So every month, her appointments under the membership were pushed back until eventually they were "lost" for not being used. Since she couldn't get the massages that were covered under the membership, she cancelled it because it made no sense to keep paying monthly for something they wouldn't give. They even cancelled one appointment on her as she was pulling up to the place. In legal terms, selling a service, taking payment, and the not delivering the service... There's a word for that. She didn't tell me about any of that until my experience, or we would not have gone back and I would have demanded a refund. To summarize that part, she paid for several months for the membership, and could never get in to get her massages... essentially they took her money and gave nothing in return. Flash forward. In an effort at second chances and trying to establish a better relationship... My wife bought me some gift cards for Christmas. So, I scheduled my first appointment, got confirmations (several through email and text), and was looking forward to my massage. My wife cautioned me .. "they will probably cancel on you like they kept doing with me". But I kept insisting, "no they confirmed an hour ago...". As I grabbed my car keys and headed to the door, the phone rang. My wife says "I'll bet you $100 they tell you the "therapist is under the weather". Sure enough, that's exactly what was said. I was furious. Now keep in mind, if you don't cancel at least 24 hours ahead of time, they charge you anyway for the session. I called in to complain to the manager and wanted to report to corporate. The sales girl said she didn't know how to reach corporate... Really? But she did have the manager, Christine, call me. I also submitted a complaint online... And they never had the courtesy to reach out. This place calls that "customer service". Christine did call and she was nice, gracious, understood, and very apologetic. To make up for my wife's and my own bad experience, she set me up with a couple of complimentary massages, and offered a discount for my wife to try again (she flat out refused). So I took her up on the offer myself. The first massage was wonderful, and my therapist, Stephanie, explained everything and made me very relaxed. I enjoyed the massage and looked forward for my next one. That's where it took a turn for the worst and I will never go back. I got a call just before my next scheduled massage and I thought they were going to cancel. They didn't. Instead the girl on the phone told me this (paraphrasing, but nearly a direct quote): "the owner said to tell you that you got enough free stuff from us, and that he will give you the next one at membership rates, but you're not getting anything else free... You got enough stuff". I was floored. So I said that I wasn't trying to get free stuff and left it at that. If that's how I was going to be treated, I would just use up the rest of my gift cards. So I did. Now that I'm done with the gift cards, I am grateful to Christine (apparently she's no longer there), for trying to make a better situation out of a horrible one; to Stephanie for being so experienced and terrific therapist, and to Beatriz and her counterpart (I'm so sorry that I didn't remember your name) for being very gracious to me, and apologizing on behalf of everyone for the experience, including apologizing for the owner, for being so damned rude about the whole thing. He'll never get another dollar out of us. You get that? The staff apologized for the owner being such a.... Go there if you want to, I don't recommend it because of the way the owner treated me... while they were trying to make up for the way they treated me! It's crazy, right? There's another Hand and Stone in the Stone Oak area that he doesn't own. Maybe check with them. I gave one star...because I have to give at least one, and for everyone but the owner for trying their best. The owner says that he gave sufficient "free stuff" to make up for it, but it's not about the free stuff, it's about the way you treat your customers.which is disgraceful.

She has a knack for pinpointing knots and tight areas and uses a scale from a 1-8 with 1 being the least achiness and 8 being the most achy. She communicates well and is very in tune with pressure points and if you need for her to back off when working on an area until it releases. It "hurts so good" so to speak and "no pain, no gain" is what I keep repeating to myself when she's working on an area until it releases. I'm breathing thru the pain, LOL!! I usually have her work on specific areas that are tight and this visit she asked if I it was okay to do some stretches as my left hip and quad were tight. That helped as well. I think "E" is well on her way to success and I told her she could work even at the Stretch Lab! I am impressed with the students that I've had here and their dedication to the craft. The quality and ambiance is as close to other Massage establishments I've been to but with very affordable pricing and frequent discounts usually during the holidays. I take advantage of their bundle promos. Parking can be a little hard to find close to the school as there are restaurants surrounding them. Leave enough time to find parking and for checking in. Bathrooms are very clean and tidy. There's also a hot/cold water dispenser near the lobby by the bathrooms so you can hydrate. The front desk gets busy in case you have to book an appointment over the phone ie using a gift card. You'll either have to try early in the morning or late in the day, otherwise you'll have to leave a voicemail. The chat option online is pretty basic and won't be able to solve any complex issues or gift-card bookings. It just default-answers you back to the website or phone number.

I ended up sitting there cold and fully dressed while waiting, which made me feel like the schedule and student rotations were taking priority over the client experience. This appointment was a birthday celebration for me, and as a single mom, I don't get many opportunities to be pampered. I was really looking forward to feeling cared for and relaxed, but unfortunately, that wasn't how the experience felt. I understand this is a learning environment, and I truly wish him the best because he was kind and respectful. With additional training, smoother transitions, and a stronger focus on the client's comfort, I believe he'll continue to improve. The lobby room burst with character and fragrance that I could only describe as simply warm and personal. The owner, already geared for this Halloween season, should win an award if there is one for best business Fall decor in San Antonio, TX! I instantly felt at ease, these were my people, no bright lights or sterile feelings here. Pretty brutal, but effective…read more I stopped in to Taichi Wellness Spa to address some issues I'd been having with my neck and opted for the 10 minute acupressure session for neck pain. I'm not going to lie, I have a high pain tolerance but I had to stop the therapist mid-session for a break. They basically forced the majority of the knots out of my neck and around my shoulder, and it was so painful that I was sweating profusely. Though I am hesitant to go again due to the pain, I acknowledge that my neck felt a little better after the soreness died down. I can't vouch for the other treatments but this one did work, it was just extremely painful.
