If you're expecting convenience, note that the coffee shop doesn't open until 8:00 AM and closes at 7:00 PM. **Pros:** Customer service was excellent, and the location is a major highlight--you're just steps from the beach. Free parking is a plus, and the room was clean upon arrival. I also appreciated their effort to be more eco-conscious by using glass instead of plastic in the rooms. Complimentary arrival drinks were a nice touch, and the free rental bikes were a great perk. **Cons:** There are no beach cabanas (only three by the pool, not beachfront), no champagne service, and room service is very delayed (not available until after 3 PM). Stayed here on our first trip to AMI. Our booking down the road at a different location didn't work out for us so we stopped in at this place to look at the rooms and see if it would fit our needs. Indeed it did. All the staff, between front desk, housekeepers, lounge staff and everyone else was very friendly. Housekeepers did daily stay over service even on Christmas Day and did a great job. Pool was warm and grounds were beautiful and well kept. Free beach lounger use. Full bar selection in lounge was nice and well kept were given a few complimentary drink cards upon check in. Beach was amazing. Room furnishings could not have been any nicer. Everything here was great. Room prices were on the higher end side, but deservedly so. Was going to book online as the front desk clerk said it would be cheaper there, but she ended up booking it direct and got me a slightly better rate. Love this place! read more

Picked this hotel because of the location and was the only option for spring break. All the ocean side rooms are not remodeled and look like they're from the 1980s. You get an ocean view so I shouldn't complain. I did go into the poolside rooms and they are remodeled this year. Very nice. The staff were overly nice. Amazing welcome when we arrived at 4pm. Very time we asked for something they went the extra mile to provide our request. We asked for a coffee maker and provided one in less than an hour. They provided a Keurig coffee maker, but that doesn't work when you bring your own coffee. Extra towels no problem. read more

This is our second stay here. We usually rent a house on Ana Maria but twice we have chosen to stay here due to only being in town a day or two. We really like this location and the newly renovated rooms. The boho beach theme is amazing. This is also located on the beach with chair and umbrella access for guests. There is a really nice pool and courtyard play area. They are also dog friendly which helped us make the decision to stay here with our pup. The only downfall is No laundry options inside units and the high price of the rooms. read more

We stayed 4 nights in a renovated 2-room/suite at this boutique hotel on the south end of the beach paying a crazy high room rate (more than an overwater bungalow in Bora Bora) because we needed a warm up from winter and love AMI. The rate was also inflated due to Presidents' Day weekend. Our large insta-friendly room had a king bedroom with 4 poster bed and a massive living room and small kitchenette with apartment sized fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and a few dishes and utensils. We ended up having bagels and avocado toast a couple of mornings for breakfast. The room felt clean and new with a Polynesian inspired decor with teak used in a lot of places. With only around 45 rooms, we liked the cozy feel and the enclosed palm shaded courtyard featured a nice (but small) pool heated to 82 degrees. This was a peaceful refuge from the very busy beach area. Unlike other places we've stayed, Bali Hai doesn't nickel and dime you for everything. Parking was free and there were about 4 chairs with umbrellas out on the beach that were also few to use. The hard working staff kept things tidy as well. Pool and beach towels were provided in your room and pool chairs were covered each day with special pool towels as well. Staff was friendly too. read more

My husband and I reserved a room at the Bali Hai for March 5th through March 10th. We had called weeks in advance and reserved an ocean view room on the 2nd floor. When we arrived at the hotel, the Bali Hai informed us that they did NOT have an ocean front room available. They tried to give us a room on the 1st floor, behind the office. Eventually, they provided us a room on the 2nd floor with a view of the courtyard. On March 6th, we were going to stop in the front office. While I was walking on the sidewalk in front of the office, I tripped and fell on the uneven sidewalk. After an Urgent Care visit, and 325.00 later, it was determined that I had fractured my foot. My husband stopped in the office to let the manager of the Bali Hai (Mason) know what had transpired. He finally came up to our room and saw me in a large brace/boot. He said to me, "How do we know that this happened in front of the Bali Hai?" I asked him to look at the footage on the security camera. He told me that they do not have cameras. He took pictures of my Urgent Care paperwork, gave us his cell phone number and said he would email us some information. After several phone calls, voicemails, and texts, we have given up on the Bali Hai EVER returning our calls. They never emailed us anything. It would have been nice if they would have maybe paid half of my out-of-pocket costs. Instead, we NEVER heard anything from this hotel....NOTHING. My husband and I find this to be profoundly unprofessional and just poor customer service. Needless to say, we will NEVER stay at the Bali Hai again! read more

Do not be fooled by the photos on their website because the reality is a far cry from what is shown by them on their site. The place is old, there isnt even as much as a breakfast option on site except for a tiny espresso maker in the kitchen area. The bathroom cabinet was rusted inside, the bedroom closet had either mold or dirt on the rack for hanging clothes and the kitchen cabinets were worn inside. Because of it's prime waterfront location they are able to charge ridiculous prices, which would be fine if the accommodations were worth the price, but in this case, definitely not. Exceptional waterfront views with trendy decorated boho rooms and a crazy amazing private pool (with cabanas). We stayed here for two nights and this place was out of this world. We woke up to dolphins while we drank our coffee on the balcony. The rooms were cozy and clean and updated. We got two free drinks at check in too! Staff was friendly and accommodating. Next time, we want to try the spa. I love that they have chairs and umbrellas on the beach for you too! Suggestions to management: the beds are so low. My elderly grandparents stayed here a few months ago and had a tough time getting out of the beds. My only feedback is to raise the beds a bit. read more

Very overpriced motel. 4000 for four nights, you would think you were staying at the four seasons. Instead it's a motel. We were on ground floor where people come in and out on the "balcony". There is a microwave and that is about it. There is piss poor communication between the staffing as well. Called a few times to fix some issues and was promised it would be taken care of and of course... it wasn't . There is no more hospitality. You are literally paying for location. That is it. How to start. The first room we got, the blind was broken in the master bedroom and had to force it closed for privacy, the fan in the bathroom was extremely loud and the electric switches in the bathroom were not wired correctly by the electrician. The WiFi didn't work or was spotty in this room. They moved us from that room to the room pictured which was minimally better. Each picture I provided gives details of the problems. The website says the rooms are "unrenovated" which I knew before purchasing. What I didn't know was it would basically be a dump where things didn't work properly. Apparently this is worth $295 a night. For the price, it gets a one star review from me. Not at all what we were expecting. The only good thing was that it had a patio door out to the beach and it was a king sized bed. Not sure how they can rent these rooms out for this price. I'm super sad to write this review. I have stayed at this resort in the past and felt the location and the amenities on AMi was worth it despite it being a very expensive 3 star property. There is nothing to eat, no close by coffee shops walking distance but it is beach side with incredible views , easy to get delivery and has a little bar on property. Even tho the rooms are not all renovated it was still an amazing location for a long weekend. I loved the location, larger suites and amazing sunset views... until this weekend. We arrived at 3:15 and our room wasn't ready. No big deal. We went to dinner and waited for the text for check in which came after 4 pm. We picked up our keys and there was caution tape due to wet apoxy paint around our room. We could not stay there. The smell was so strong inside the unit. When we shared this with the gentleman and woman at the front, he rolled his eyes and acted like there was nothing he could do. He offered to put us in a non-view room for ONE of our 2 nights for more money. Then when we pushed he said he could put us in there and then move us the next day to another room. He never apologized for the inconvenience or offered any empathy to the situation even admitted it was a horrible smell and he knew it was bad when he checked us in. Ridiculous and stupid. The smell made our unit uninhabitable which they seemed to know. No apology or effort to make it right. We had to suggest options and ask for them to call a manager then he spoke to her like I wasn't there. We ended up finding another place to stay and negotiated a refund bc I was not about to give them my money. I was so disappointed and being in client service and travel since 2006, I shared with a group of three people (2 women and this young gentleman) calmly that it could be handled better by: apologizing even tho it is not your fault. Having understanding and offering to help in any way you can. Appreciating that you knew it was not a safe space to put a client in but there were limited options. And most importantly see our side and just try to care. But none of this mattered. They simply didn't care. This gentlemen said to me "he is a mirror and he gives what he gets" with a flat straight face. I went off. I told him to eff off and he is a cocky POS. Ive been a client advocate for 15 years in travel and I was in shock by this behavior. He should not be employed. Yep. I lost it but it's beyond comprehension that this would be acceptable in hotel service. Amy, the manager, has not responded to my urgent calls or emails. I'm beyond disgusted with how they treated me, a returning client and a big fan of this area for over 6 years. I will never ever recommend them again. They may not care but I do. I would reconsider if you are thinking of staying here. Entitled not client focused front desk ruin the view. It's absolutely not worth the overpriced bullshit they are selling. wow. great spot right on the beach! please do not consider the negative reviews. from the moment we walked into the office our hosts (rachel, O, and steven) were gracious and professional. they even babysat our dog Hazel so we could go swim in the ocean! some of the rooms are renovated but we chose to stay on the beach and those rooms while nice, are not super updated. but extremely comfortable and new furniture. i wish we were still there! they have a nice little bar and also great looking pool, a spa and perfect sunsets. highly recommend. read more

The view is amazing!!! We had a beach front room. The room was ummm- dated. The bathroom needs to be updated. The bed is terrible. It's got a huge sag in the middle. My wife and I kept rolling into each other. For the cost of this hotel I think some updates and new mattress's wound be nice. The pool was NOT heated when we were there last week. The spa and lounge was also not open for any service. I love the pool area and astroturf area. The staff was welcoming and helpful with recommending where to eat. The location on the island was nice. Visited this resort before the new ownership and renovations. The decor was old but the price point matched it. Staff was exceptional and location is literally beachfront. I'm sad we didnt visit often now the prices are wazoo high! The resort then provided free parking, beach towels and a beach umbrella. I'd love to visit again but will have to during the off season. I would rate the hotel 3.5 because it was the first time I had to wait so long for early check in. There has never been a hotel that has not been able to accommodate me earlier to receive my room earlier. Check in was at 4:00 pm which I find ridiculous with all hotels, and I received the room at 3:00pm. The pool was small. The towels were scarce and the front desk is not available 24/7. On the bright side, the piña coladas were delicious. I was disappointed they didn't have their signature coconuts. They don't have hot food options. The renovated rooms are spectacularly decorated. Arrived in our beautiful room to find 3 beach towels, 3 bath towels, a half role of toilet paper and 2 packs of coffee for our 3 night stay. Ice was sold at hotel for $5 per bag. WTH?! Asked for more coffee and TP.. Andrea made sure to let us know she knew we had asked. Even told cleaning ladies, we over heard them discussing it. ‍I assume again we were trying to "steal" something. So weird. She really should not be the first face you see and meet! Bar staff was great. Even offered our remaining 2 welcome drinks. SSHh! A free well drink and coffee packs are a pretty cheap offer for $800 a night. Had to ask for TP and more beach towels again. And for trash to be taken out. We used the same bath towels during our stay which was perfectly fine. We left a few beers. Hopefully, Andrea got to enjoy one on us!! Making her week a little better. I planned a family vacation to the resort on April 8th-April 11th 2020. I have been in constant contact with the hotel regarding Covid-19. My family lives in Michigan and we are on Stay at Home orders from the Governor! We can only leave our house to get groceries and necessities. I have explained our situation in detail to their management and the Bali Hai is refusing to give us a refund! The Governor of Florida issued a order for All Vacation rentals to close for two weeks. It speaks volumes at how their management is handling this situation. I would never endanger my family and travel during this crisis! I will never go to this place even if you paid me $1,000,000. The most luxurious! Growing up in Florida, I always assumed that any place you stay on Anna Maria Island is going to offer the same beachy, tropical aesthetic. I was completely mistaken. This resort is directly on their own private beach, with some rooms having balcony's directly above the sand, giving you a wide view of the gulf. Perfect choice since we didn't want to always be In the heat, but still wanted a beautiful view from our room! They have giant cabanas in their courtyard that your whole family can share, corn hole for entertainment, and a nice bar with coconut drinks! There was a freezer full of Italian ice and frozen bananas... we ate at least 4 or 5 while we laid by the crystal clear pool. We've stayed twice, and can definitely say this is our go-to spot is for a perfect vacation, every time. read more

Where do I begin... photos are a poor representation of what you will actually find. There is zero staff, zero cleanliness, zero Wi-Fi, zero breakfast, zero service. We were here for a week and had to beg to get our room cleaned one time. Even then, they did not provide clean sheets or take the time to mop the sand (and bugs) from the floors. We had to take out our own garbage, vacuum our own floors and do without coffee in the morning. After thinking about it, the first night we were wondering why the sheets were sandy. Now we know they were sandy from the previous guests. I covered up with a blanket the first night that was covered in vomit. Not ours. All I can say is you are better of spending your hard earned money on one of the many Air BNB's on this island. I booked a six night stay for my birthday this year and was set to check in on Monday (9/26), just as Hurricane Ian was closing in and most forecasts had us getting directly impacted by the storm. Hotel staff was uninformed and unprepared for the situation, not having answers regarding precautions or cancellations in advance of the storm. Further, despite mandatory evacuations of the island being ordered by officials, the hotel adamantly held fast to their No Refunds or Cancellations policy. Ultimately, they only offered to allow guests to re-book to another time, but it could not conflict with a holiday and must be used before the end of the year. Accomodations were decent. We stayed in the remodeled unit but it still needed some upgrades. There were only 2 closets but no drawers or dressers so we had to live out of our bags. We tried to cast movies to the smart tv but it wouldn't work. We called down to the office and he said that our unit would only cast to his tv down in the office. Wireless was horrible. There was no fan in the living area and the one fan that it did have was impossible to work. It had a mind of its own. The kitchenette's electrical outlets did not work so we had to make coffee on the floor in the living area. It was very noisy at all times of the day. Sounded like the noise was coming from the roof but not sure. We went midweek off-season and parking was a definite challenge. I can't imagine what it would be like off-season. The unit was clean(of course I disinfected everything first due to covid-19). The water pressure in the shower was superb. The beds were so comfortable and pillows rocked. There was good and bad. The remodeling effort could have used a bit more thought. Overall Bali Hai is more of a place to rest your head and then go out and about. We had a decent experience but we were disappointed a bit. We felt that the accomodations did not meet up with the price of the room. FYI...masks were optional which we found to be insane due to covid-19. read more
