Loved staying here. It is super basic, a bit old but clean and comfortable and all that we needed for a short stay at a beautiful beach. Great location on a beautiful ,quiet beach ..no crowds, no fighting for chairs , just very laid back and simple. We had two rooms with kitchenettes. One room was across the road from the other which was okay but we didn't realize that when reserving. No big deal really but worth letting others know to check when booking if its across the street.The price was amazing...please don't jack it up ! Eric and the staff were very friendly and accomodating. The little beach shop has some basic items and beverages which was great. We had a great time and we would definitely come back !! read more

We had a nice stay. Being 100% honest, it's far from a fancy place and rooms are a little beat up, showers doesn't have a lot of water and there were some itens that could be updated/replaced... BUT you can't beat the convenience of being steps away from the beach, if that's what you're looking for, like we were. We will probably stay here again for that reason. We stayed at a very nice hotel, also by the beach, triple the price and the beach access had a gate, you have to go thru the dunes, etc. this place is literally at the beach. read more

I really liked the location of this place just open the door and a few steps to such a beautiful beach. They have beach chairs and toys to use during your stay The staff was really friendly and nice and for the most part we enjoyed our stay. The kitchen has everything you would need toaster, blender, microwave and so on makes it convenient if you need it. The building is older and on the beach so. For the most part they are clean, unless you happen to look under the sofa for a missing shoe. But ignore it. You're on the beach My only real complaint is the a/c is pretty loud, I had earplugs and still a little loud. And even tho they have blinds I would have been happier with blackout curtains for privacy and the lights. We stayed in one of the penthouses and the view was beautiful. When reading about this place, we thought they would serve beer and wine by the tiki hut. It's not a bar and there's only minimal items, just a side window where you try and contact someone to come over. Plus, they close at 4:30 which messed up our plans assuming it would be open at least until 9:00. read more

We're in the top suite on the beach. First, the lady at the desk (I'm bad with names, something starting with an "A") very nice, puts an effort into making sure the guest understands everything, knows what's around and is generally satisfied--- without being annoying. Second, I wouldn't call this place cheap, but it is right on the beach. And it's not a million ppl crowded-mess either. There's plenty of room outside and in this suite. Third, they have a golf cart for rent. It's new, but slow. If you're bored or without wheeler- rent it. Things are close enough. Fourth-I wouldn't say this place is "dated" but I would almost say that. It's showing it's age. I think the manager lady makes up for that. read more

First time to the island for us. What a awesome trip. After having to cancel vacation plans last year due to COVID we wanted a vacation where we could be social distanced. At Cedar Cove Resort you can be as social distanced or social as you want to be. The beach directly in front of this resort is almost like a private beach. A lot less people than on the public beach areas. We had a Suite in the front building and balcony with a direct view of the beach and ocean. What a awesome view it was. The suite was fantastic. Very clean and a lot of attention to detail.Comfortable bed (hard to find while traveling), great water pressure in the shower, kitchen had all you needed to be able to eat in if you wanted. The coffee pot was a must. Pure relaxation! If you are looking to be on Island time, slow down and just enjoy the beach and chill out for a few days this is a great place to do just that. No pool. But you have the ocean. Even better. If you are more into shopping and restaurants there are buses that will take you to both ends of the islands. Which I recommend. Finding parking can be hard. Highly recommend Cedar Cove Resort. Thanks Cedar Cove Resorts for a great vacation! I did see the reviews about some guests rooms not being directly on the water. This is a cool little boutique resort. Every room and suite is completely different in decor and where it is situated. Some rooms are directly on the beach front, others are set back some and some are across the street. Cedar Cove has a few buildings that has direct access to the beach. The building closest to the beach shore looks like newer construction as opposed to the other two buildings I saw. Cedar Cove Resort also has cottages across the street from the beach. Our group reserved three units. My unit was the Coral Reef and it was very nicely remodeled with new kitchen cabinets and appliances. It had a deep under the counter sink and beautiful faucet that made it quite nice. The refrigerator was new, there was a coffee pot, stove, toaster, and microwave. The bathroom was also remodeled and I was relieved when I saw a clear glass sliding door instead of a shower curtain. The mattress was very comfortable and I had a flat panel TV in the bedroom and another one in the kitchen. The outdoor area to The Coral Reef had an outside sitting and additional dining area. Due to the heavy rain on the first day and part of the second, it was not feasible to use because it was very wet and there were lots of mosquitoes. The only one thing I would have preferred was a French door or a regular door to go in and out of the unit, instead of the glass sliding door. The other two units were not nearly as nice. They were both on the same building as the check in office and on the same building where I stayed in the Coral Reef suite. One of the three units was more expensive than mine and only had one TV on a rolling dresser. The shower stall was very small where you could barely properly wash your feet because it was hard to bend down without touching the sides. It was so narrow that it was hard to shower. This shower stall had a shower curtain. The cheaper room that was a studio had commercial carpet instead of tiles like the other two rooms. That bathroom had a standing shower that was larger than the other. The shower floor and wall has the same tiles with wide grout and a shower curtain. I personally do not like shower curtains. The kitchen in these two units were pretty old looking and had not been remodeled. I'm glad I was not assigned either one of the other two rooms or I would have been very upset for that kind of money. Maybe they will get remodeled one of these days. The staff was friendly and hospitable. The beach was beautiful. The sunset was amazing. read more

We loved it! They are so accommodating. Few things to share. We were at key lime across from the street, not direct beach view but a beautiful cottage! We were just steps away from the beach. Loved waking up with kids and heading straight to the beach in our pjs, honestly. It so relaxing and beautiful! We were driving from VA and reached around 4 am and they had things in place for us. Stayed here in May for a quick anniversary trip. The staff was incredibly friendly, the rooms were very clean and there were plenty of free amenities to use while there. You have access to a bathroom and shower after your check out which is a huge plus if you want to get some extra beach time in before you leave. My family and I stayed here for a few days after Christmas and had an absolute blast. The resort is perfect for a relaxing beach vacation, the rooms and cottages are clean and spacious and you couldn't find a nicer, more accommodating staff. Every person working at the resort made sure we had everything we needed. And it's a terrific place to bring kids. Cedar Cove resort was recommended to us by a friend who lives in the Tampa area. We had never been to Anna Maria Island and wanted to sample a different part of Florida we had never been to. It is a true beach resort right in the middle of the island on a beautiful stretch of Holmes Beach.. Eric and Lori were great in explaining all their amenities and Lori gave us a thorough tour of our cottage upon our arrival. My only disappointment is that our cottage was across the busy Gulf Dr., but it's a short walk to the beach. They provide towels, beach chairs, have many games, books and bikes available to use. Quaint, simple, great location- depending on your room- can be right on the beach. It is also a very quiet stretch of beach. Personal attention from the owners who seem to do almost everything themselves. They are helpful but hands-off- maybe a little too much for me, but I like the friendly and talkative types. My daughter was given a stuffed animal upon check-in- that was very much appreciated! I would always choose this kind of resort over the big hotels, as I find you typically get more for your money and don't have to deal with big crowds. They have hammocks, tons of toys and floats, outdoor showers, beach towels and umbrellas and chairs, for no additional cost. Also, we were able to get an entire apartment- full kitchen, bedroom and pull-out couch, for our family for an affordable price. The missing star is really only due to some missing touches - the unit wasn't as clean as I would want (leftover soap in the shower... eek), there is no daily cleaning service, etc. Overall, just slightly more "no-frills" than I personally want. We feel completely duped! Everything said "beachfront". To get to the beach from our "cottage" you have to cross a busy highway! Instead of hearing serene beach sounds, we got to listen to traffic. This place fit us in on 4 days notice! They were the only beachfront place with a vacancy. Great location, loved the beach atmosphere & amenities. The only downside was that the suite didn't have a single extra towel in it and on our first night there, the toilet clogged & overflowed & there was NO PLUNGER in the entire 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite. We had to request a plunger from the front desk, with the toilet overflowing all over the bathroom, and they didn't even bother to come over and mop it up. read more

We initially visited in 2018 and loved it so much that we returned in 2021 with our friends and family for our wedding weekend! Location is incredible- studio, 1BR and 2BR options right on the beach. Some of the units have balconies overlooking the water, others have decks with lounge chairs and patio tables. Directly in front of the units are two large tiki huts and two grills. Stop off at the market and enjoy your meal with your feet in the sand while the kids play. There are plenty of beach chairs and coolers available to guests as well as floats and beach toys saved from previous guests so you don't have to bring your own! You can't beat the view of the sunset here! But the reason we will continue to return to Cedar Cove is the people. Adriene, Steve, Tony and the rest of the team treat you like family. You are warmly welcomed and checked in on regularly. We felt like we were leaving friends behind! Can't wait to come back! read more

I've never been so disappointed with lodging based on the price I paid. I felt that it Expedia used "bait and switch" tactics. Originally, Expedia gave me a price of $400 per night plus "fees". I was made to put in my credit card info before they would give the final price. What I thought was going to cost about $3,000, ended up being almost $5,000, with the room rate being over $550. Since I felt committed at that point I did agree to this price, but almost immediately after agreeing regretted it. I was encouraged to buy trip insurance by Cedar Cove and did so since I was in it for 5K. Then I read the trip insurance would only cover $3,000. I was more upset when I read on Cedar Cove's website that it would be a savings to call the hotel directly. And I found out later it certainly would have. Still, I thought for $700 (including all fees and taxes) a night it must be a great place. It was not! Great location, but the property looked sad and worn out. Furnishings were cheap and outdated. It would have been adequate for $3,000, but certainly not $5,000! The unit had a coffee maker using pods, and I was told I'd need to buy the pods from them. Really? Even the cheapest of hotels provides free coffee. I'm retired and have trusted Expedia in the past to provide value in my travels, but I have completely lost trust in them. I've learned a very expensive lesson and in the future will call a hotel directly. read more

What a sublime, generally quiet, clean spot on the beach. the sunsets are spectacular. The staff are wonderful. Whatever you need, they try to respond quickly. My unit was slightly dated, but all the essentials were perfect. I would return in a heartbeat. Just make sure there isn't a family with young children above you, and make sure you are beachside. Would have been 5 stars had they not overbooked our room. My mom was nice enough to not put up a fight and relocate us down the road. The reason we didn't have a room is because they double booked another family who was staying much longer (giving them "priority"). Too bad considering a resort only has a few essential things to do, including proper booking. Wouldn't surprise me if they double booked on purpose hoping for a cancellation. Just beware if you're staying at a busy time and not for at least a week. To top it off, Eric (the guy in charge) is a snob. The cleanliness and friendliness is so welcoming. This is the perfect spot for a family getaway. They even greeted my toddler with a stuffed animal turtle and toys are available on the beach. To my surprise the cottage is equipped with a full kitchen and so kid friendly. My family and I will definitely be staying again. I highly recommend cedar cove resort. Traveling from cali to Florida for first time to watch my son play soccer in bradenton. Decided to stay at beach after reading reviews decided on Ann Marie island and cedar cove inn. Great place. Not 5 star resort but who cares. So due to traveling across country we didn't get In until 930 pm. No problem. They knew that and had our room ready. I love this place. Very sleepy as u enter. Looks very rustic. Our room was having work done so we were upgraded. But I knew this also as they called and emailed me and let me know we'd been upgraded. We were upgraded free of charge and love our little 1 bedroom. Great view as u can see. Right on beach. Bed was soft and comfy. Shower was fine as was rest of bathroom. Full kitchen and a newer model fridge so cubes were there as was filtered water. Beach in front is super nice. Weather was beautiful but not as warm as I anticipated. 72. Water was a little brisk maybe 68-70. But all beach chairs and umbrellas are available for use for free. Wife and I chilled on beach in sun for a few hours. Drove south to Saratoga. Awesome little shopping. Back to the cedar. Excellent value and the location can't be beat. Photos were taken from our room or on the beach in front of the cedar. We stayed in the sand dollar suite. We loved our stay. It is a small place. Perfect to relax! It is an old Florida style boutique hotel. No one was bugging us all day! If you needed clean towels you would place your dirty basket outside the door and get the fresh ones. BBQ outside with in a TI-KI. Lounge chairs. Water toys. Awesome to be on the beach with this small hotel feeling. Swamp coolers in the windows, but we were there in March so we did not need to turn them on. Comfortable beds. Wow. OK so from the time we arrived was wonderful. We called Eric prior and he set me up for after hours check-in. everything was explained and laid out for us, the parking, the room key, directions and a map of the property was waiting for us. This was prob the easiest experience I have ever had with a lodging check-in. Eric at the front desk was amazingly helpful along with the rest of the staff. Every day I was there they doing up-keeping. There was a guy painting a patio, guys blowing leaves away from the walkways and staff just staying busy to keep the property looking good. We choose the mermaid cottage. Now, To be honest normally I probably would not have stayed at the property but I said I was going to give it a try. I usually prefer a listing that's more modern or contemporary. My particular cottage , the mermaid was an older, two bedroom, two bath cottage. It had a huge deck and a full functioning kitchen. It was another unit right next door but I never heard the people that were there and hopefully they never heard us. I'm glad I gave it a try. It was the closest beachfront listing that I have ever stayed in and When I tell you it was the perfect little cottage . Thank u Eric and the ceder cottage crew. Ever have one of those best kept secret places that you just love but selfishly want to keep it to yourself? That is this place for my wife and I. So why am I sharing this? Because Eric and the staff are awesome and deserve for the world to know it. My wife and I have stayed there a few times now and it's our favorite place on the entire Suncoast. It has some old school Florida charm sitting on the most gorgeous beach in the area. Our visit a couple of years ago was so amazing that we decided to move to the area. But even though we live less than 30 minutes away, we stayed there recently to celebrate our anniversary and had an awesome time. Enjoyed my stay at Cedar Cove. The only recommendation is to book a top floor suite. I was on the second floor and experienced footsteps from my fellow vacationers, similar to living on the lower floor of an old house. It was OK until I learned my fellow vacationers were early risers, i.e. 6am on weekdays! The resort was laid back with a terrific view of the Gulf. read more

Last minute trip to Anna Maria and they had the wildflower cottage available. Staff was incredibly friendly-made you feel like family. Checkout was at 11:00 but we didn't have to leave the island until later that day. They have a shower /restroom that we could use to clean up before we left. They were so accommodating in every way including beach towels which we didn't have. Very short walk to beautiful private beach (120 steps). Would definitely recommend staying there and would love to return! read more

Disliked · where to begin.... room was on a busy street. noise from cars and trucks all night. room was ok. be prepared to wash any plates/cups/dishes that you use, or be prepared to be charged additional fees!!! sounds very clean since I don't know how the people before me cleaned my dishes ??? (note in cabinet said that all silverware and utensils have been sanitized to state guidelines)No Maid service. you must leave a laundry basket outside with your dirty items. then they will put new towels in your now dirty basket. I understand at this time many places don't offer maid service. we had just come from 2 other hotels. one had everyday maid service and one came daily to our door to see if we needed soap/towels and even COFFEE!! speaking of coffee!!!!! be prepared to pay for their "special nespresso pods" that they give you one complimentary regular and one complimentary decaf. you then can buy extras but not just one?!?!?!? a whole pack of ten!!! what a deal. we stayed one night!!! we were told they couldn't open a new package to separate the pods... but they must be separate somewhere since there was ONE regular and ONE decaf waiting for us!!!! at check out they asked how are stay was when explained that we were unhappy about the the coffee situation they again said that they couldn't open new pods and had to buy the whole pack of ten and we should be happy that they provided us with again, one regular and one decaf pod. they said they don't even have to provide us with coffee. I explained that spending 495.00 for two nights I would have thought that might be complimentary since it had been everywhere we went in the last 2 weeks. that's where the fun begins!!! I asked where the single pod comes from that you get when you check in.... I asked the "coffee fairy"? where I was then told that they (older man and arrogant younger man) could no longer continue this conversation with me because of my attitude!!! I have never once complained about anything at restaurant or store etc and was completely dismissed. There are soooo many places to stay. Please don't consider this one!!! We stayed at Anna Maria island Inn "the retreat " location. Nice pool... quiet... same distance to beach and guess what!!! Coffee pods for 4 servings at a time!!! Amazing!! read more
