In my experience with RUBA hall I've known it as the place for the perfect potluck (which would have been even better if more of the people who said they were going to show up with food actually did. Just saying!), a concert hall that featured 3-4 awesome acts, a place that housed the ultimate karaoke party, and a spot known for its cabarets (that I still need to make it down too!). When it comes down to it RUBA is a place that is generally open to letting its members paint a blank canvas for its events. And since it predominately likes to center itself on the performing arts that can be a very beautiful thing! Another awesome thing is how little it can cost to get such a coveted membership and throw an event. The membership rate for such a cool event hall and after hours club is $20 a year. And putting on events goes for around $300 which is practically nothing if you can pull off something fun and exciting. So when it comes down to it RUBA is solid gold!

I watched him put on both deodorant and a subtle cologne before we left the house. He was dancing and sweating like anyone else, and our friend who rode over in a ride share with us didn't notice a smell, nor did anyone at the multiple other establishments we visited after The Barbary kicked us out. My boyfriend is a tall, muscular Black man and was one of few Black men in the establishment that night. We don't know who complained about him or why, but we felt that the staff applied this hygiene policy unjustly. Be warned, if you plan to go. Their hygiene policy states they'll remove anyone with an odor "presenting a clear and obvious detriment to the experience of others". But that's a pretty subjective standard. We are definitely never going back.

Being located upstairs and off by ourselves was aHUGE help in keeping them all ion one place with no interaction with the other, older visitors downstairs, so thanks for that! Finally, I would like to note as we prepared to leave I saw Manager Arturo dash past our group and out the front door and I figured maybe his car was being ticketed....only to find out he had run ahead of us to help the students cross the intersection of Swanson Street and Oregon Avenue. It's things like this that endear me to a tour venue!
