As the dive bars rapidly disappear in and around Philly, the Waterford is a classic hold out. Cheap beers (yes they raise the price a bit for Tower shows, but it's still way cheaper than the $12 lagers inside the Tower). Classic horseshoe bar, limited menu (pro tip- Upper Darby has some of the best Vietnamese, Thai, and Japanese food in Philly, eat first and then grab a beer here). The only place to go before or after any show at the Tower. Yes, their prices are adjusted on "concert nights", but can you really blame them? The tower shows are the only thing keeping this place in business. The food was not bad....had mozz sticks and a chicken steak. the beer selection could be better, its pretty much all your standard domestics. Would have like to see at least a Kenzinger....but whatever.....the place serves it purpose. The bartenders and the rest of the staff were really nice and fun to talk with. I would recommend to anyone going to a show to make this your meeting spot. read more

It would be 5* but the security guard 3am/Kevin kept harassing my friends and I all night and we was there spending mad money and buying lots of food (which the food is great). We came three nights in a week and it was about 10 of us each time we went. He kept bothering us all night and we really was just getting drinks and having a good time. We will not be going back there anymore to be harassed by the security guard, the bar tender's were great Sam is the nicest bar maid u can meet and all the other bar maid's also but I don't know there names. We will not come back until something is done about that ignorant ass security guard who only harass us. But all in all it's a fun ass bar good drinks good food good people but U WILL HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE SECURITY GUARD HE THINKS THATS HIS BAR!!!!!!......The other bar around there will get our money because we will not spend another dollar in there until they do something about Kevin. read more

Let's say you're looking for a place to grab a few beers and have a snack before heading in to the Tower Theater to see Conan O'Brien. There just aren't a ton of options around 69th St. in Upper Darby. So calibrate your expectations and Waterford Inn becomes an amazing find. One friend said it looked like the Winchester from Shaun of the Dead, but easier to defend from zombies, since it didn't have any windows and it would be easy to barricade the doors. It's less than 100 yards from the Tower. 1/2 lb cheesesteaks are under $7. The cheese fries and onion rings were ridiculously diner-authentic/good. The chicken fingers and turkey burger were not very good, but all other food items were happily scarfed down. One note -- I loved our waitress, but not everyone else did. She looked like she was going to have an anuerysm when we put in a wad of cash and two separate credit cards (we were a party of 8.... sorry, that's what happens). $$ - Beers were not cheap (but still cheaper than inside the Tower). Also, it looks like they might have a "concert night" menu that might be a dollar or two more per item than their online menu. Again, I'm not going to be picky because of the convenience factor. read more

As always, I stopped into the waterford inn on my way to a concert and it hasn't changed and it is always a good time. Great people, good times, decent food. Funny friendly staff... Love this place, older crowd and great for watching sports. They also cook some great food. Bar tenders are very friendly and fast. So if you want a cool relaxed atmosphere to just chill and have a drink, this is the place to do it. read more

Prices are great and if you are lucky enough they will have chicken salad (which is made fresh) and very good. If you are up to hanging around you can find some good conversation too. Con - they allow smoking and if you can get past that it is really a nice and people are great. read more

My husband and I live in upper bucks county, surrounded by amazing award winning restaurants. Instead of eating close to home Saturday night, we thought we'd find a place close to the Tower Theater as we had tickets to the 8PM show. I found this restaurant on line and looking at the menu, it was a great selection and reasonable prices. They brag on the website about it being the perfect place to eat before or after a show but I beg to differ. I called to find out exactly where they were, and since they did not take reservations, I also asked what time they recommended we arrive to make the 8pm show and they suggested closer to 6 than 7, so we did. We fought the city traffic to the theater and found our way to the restaurant about 6:15 there were plenty of tables so we hit the timing just right and were seated right away. When we sat down we were handed paper menus that had a picture of the tower theater on the front. Inside the selection was nothing more than burgers and cheesesteaks, far from the stuffed flounder and veal cutlet we had our hearts set on from looking at their on line menu. Then, rubbing salt in the wound, the prices were jacked up a few dollars an item! The $1.95 fries were 3.95 on this "theater" menu. When I asked if we could order off the regular menu, I was told no that they only use this "limited" menu on show nights so the kitchen can move food faster. We were disappointed to say the least - if we wanted greasy bar food we could have stopped a million other places on the way here but now had no other choice but to sit and gag down overpriced cheesesteaks and soggy chips. NO WHERE on their website does it even elude to the fact that they have limited menu or a totally different menu on concert nights. While I understand the reasoning behind it, they should WARN people that all of the glorious items shown on their menu is not available on show nights. They should post BOTH menus on their website so people know what they are getting into before going here before a show. If you want to drink - by all means go here before a show, but there are pizza joints up and down the road that would be a better choice if you want dinner. read more

I WISH I could give this place more stars. This is the little grandmom & grandpop place right next to the Tower Theater in Upper Darby- it is SUPER convenient if you're headed in for a show right after. The adorable older couple that owns and runs this place couldn't be any sweeter, are so gracious, and still actively seat and interact with all the guests. The menu is basic- cheesesteaks, burgers, BLTs, french fries. Don't deviate from the basics. I had the turkey burger and it wasn't great. My boyfriend had the chicken cheesesteak and fries and they were both good. The bar's pours are quite strong, which is great. They seat you, get your order, get your drinks, and your food comes right out- even if it's swamped with pre-show folks. The prices could NOT be more reasonable. Even with two top-shelf drinks each, our whole bill was about $40. Their prices probably haven't fluctuated since they opened the place! Unfortunately, they also haven't updated their smoking rules. They let people smoke at the bar, which is definitely illegal and kind of gross for us non smokers. Nonetheless, we always have a great time, helped by the fact that we're always about to see a great show! It's one of those classic, never-been-updated bars. I just wish they could step up the food a little bit and enforce the non-smoking regulations. Still, we'll probably be back before the next Friday night show, it's too convenient not to go. read more

Horrible food. DO NOT believe the menu at Allmenus.com. Service was barely there, bar smell pervades the "dining area". Really just a seedy bar. They prey on concert goers. I doubt they ever offer the good food shown on the online menu. Anyplace that serves fish and chips that a cat wouldn't eat (tasted like bad clam and was not white fish) deserves to be out of business. read more

I am not usually inclined to write reviews but feel I must for this place. My wife and I went there before the Billy Idol show because it was right around the corner and we did not want to walk too far due to the bad neighborhood. We were seated a little before 6:00 pm. It was a little busy, but not too bad yet. It took quite awhile before we got menus. They do put out a "special" menu on concert nights that is basically limited to sandwiches, which is ok. We finally ordered, a sandwich and an order of fish and chips. Our food did not arrive for a full hour and 15 minutes later, I kid you not! There were people who arrived 30 minutes later than us who were getting there food ahead of us. When I asked our waitress about this she said that she had no control over it and that fryer foods take longer. I am pretty sure that fish and chips do not take very long. After another 15 minutes or so I asked the young man who was seating people if he could check on it, explaining that we had been there quite awhile and other people were getting their food ahead of us who were not there very long. He said his Grandmother is in charge of the kitchen and that the orders are not necessarily done first come first served. After the long wait, the turkey special sandwich was not too bad, but Mrs. Paul makes a better fish and chips than the Waterford. Really bad fish, greasy, not very crispy, and just really average flavor served with really bad cocktail sauce. The sandwich did not come with fries or even chips! On top of that, it got really smoky in there. We do not smoke, so that was not pleasant at all. I understand that smokers have rights too, but these days most places are doing away with it. Not the Waterford. We definitely will not be returning to this place. read more
