The trail to walk through a forest area is probably the best thing about the place. Worth a stop? Maybe, but realize that this botanical gardens has a long way to go before it's ready for primetime. Being a smaller market, I assume it's a funding issue. There were some workers/volunteers there trying to make the place alluring and presentable. This will be an asset to Knoxville as/if it gets built out with a clear vision.

My kids stayed entertained for over two hours and would have been happy to stay if we'd had the time. This is a great option for a rainy day activity. The only downside is we were hoping to grab lunch beforehand and there weren't a lot of options nearby that we were able to find. At $12 a ticket for adults and children aged 1 and up it's a reasonable price!

I get that this museum is to preserve history we all understand this concept. But what I don't get is that more than half of the Native American artifacts in this section was removed by Tribes because it was viewed "incorrectly." Instead of having a Tribe member being in the museum to inform people they just removed the artifacts entirely from public eye. How I would do it, inform and educate rather than take down things. Just very odd to me. The bottom half of the museum (after you walk down the stairs) is interesting although the theory that we came from "apes" is uh... A different topic. It's a nice sized museum, very clean, quiet and people are respectfully when going into each section. P.S, if a Baseball game is nearby and they charge for parking let them know that you're visiting the museum not the game so you can get in to park. If not, you'll get charged $20 to park for free. It's far better than the Knoxville Museum of Art, now that's a different story to tell.

Needless to say I (as well as my Mom) was surprised that the Festival shifted to World's Fair Park. It is much BIGGER than I remember. I guess Market Square wasn't big enough to handle all these cool booths. Honestly it is much less "Fair Like" then the Washington County Fair in Hillsboro. No rides and unnecessary fried food. Mostly cool art, tons of crafts, and I was able to grab a cool shady spot to chill and write my review. I was really hoping to spot one of my old(er) friends from Knoxville while I was walking around. I don't usually last long at these festivals...my interest seems to wain fairly quickly, but people watching is fun too. Kinda reminds me of sitting on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan. Yup it always comes back to New York. Y'all come back now, ya hear?

There are differing categories of chalk art with winners are chosen at the end of the day (and labeled as such). There are food trucks and other vendors selling goods and often activities for the littles, and live music to enjoy. Just note that it gets crowded on the Sat. of the event and if you want to avoid that (and it hasn't rained, go the day after to enjoy the art walk without the heavy crowds.

Tons of artists and artsy organizations called Knoxville home, while First Friday has been happening for 13 years, it is really getting better and better each year. You can explore galleries, studios, and artist collectives; roam through shops hosting open houses and local artist exhibits; enjoy performance art and live music in the streets and a variety of venues; drop in restaurants along the way and treat yourself to drinks and culinary pleasures. You never know what you are going to find and it's a great way to support our local Arts Community. The galleries have extended hours on First Friday nights so can pop in after work and enjoy what you might miss out on during the week. I'm not a huge beer drinker but I love cider...so I was able to target all of the booths that carried a cider. Plus I was given a cute souvenir beer glass to drink out of. Anyway, without belaboring the point, if you're not allergic to fun... DO.THIS.EVENT! $60 per person for entry... it's a charity thing. And, let's face it... at $60, it's a great social filter. I applaud this! At $20, we'd get shirtless guys in jorts... so keep the filter going. Oh.., and the beer! And the food trucks. How in the hell did you miss this???? My DD had entry for $20 and had all the non-alcoholic drinks he could handle. Wonderful event all around for the drinker and non.
