Students won an award for their science work. Northern is a fascinating example of STEAM--science, technology, arts, music. Northern offers ballet, classical music, and classical Chinese dance, along with the humanities and science programs. We visited an arts studio on campus, too, with student's skillful work displayed. A parent spoke of how flexibly the faculty designed course work for his sons--one was extremely good at math, and they let him advance into a much higher grade to do challenging work. Another was extremely poor at Chinese, and the school found two others who were novices and created an ultra-beginner class just for them. If only all schools could do such things! It's good to see a school restoring and using the abandoned Beaux Arts buildings that had become so blighted. Glad they preserved the graceful proportions and aged brick of the old buildings, while making it modern and bright inside.

The teachers are attentive, nurturing, and clearly passionate about early childhood development. They take time to understand each child's personality and needs, and it truly shows in the way the kids interact and thrive. The facility is always clean, organized, and secure. I appreciate their focus on both play-based learning and structured activities--our child comes home talking excitedly about new songs, crafts, and skills. Communication is outstanding; we receive daily updates, photos, and notes about progress, meals, and activities. Most importantly, our child is happy here. We've noticed huge improvements in language, independence, and social confidence. This daycare has become like a second home, and we're grateful for the caring team that makes that possible. Highly recommended to any parent looking for a safe, warm, and enriching environment.

Storm King is NOT such a place. Set on manicured grounds in the shadow of Storm King Mountain and just down the road from West Point, SKS is an educational community with an impressive 150 year history (see: https://sks.org). My nephew teaches here. He lives here, with his charges and family. He is an extraordinary educator and reflects the sensibilities of this place. His colleagues are just like him. SKS is exclusive in the sense of expense and rigor (hence not for everyone) but it is not your stereotypical UK snobatorium -- flush with secret handshakes and trust fund teens. It is elite, sure -- but in a good way -- like Yelp; with a Bohemian vibe. Were I in the market for a prep school that boards their students, SKS would be high on my list.

There are several qualities that this facility has. The facility it self is out of the way for me, and I pass several daycares on my way from work to home, but the travel ( an extra 15 min. locally) is worth my peace of mind. First off, the staff deserves a round of applause! You will NEVER find a center that fosters team work like New Wonders, Val & Melissa are a burst of positive energy. Every staff member always looks happy and engaged with the children, it makes me feel like I am leaving my baby with " grandma" in a way. They provide lunch, and snacks, they have a musician/dancer come in each week and interact with the kids. My boys ALWAYS go outside for walks/play. They have a camera system, so you can watch your babies online from work or on your cell phone. They have an online portal where you can read daily notes, and see pictures of your baby's milestones. I just saw a picture of my 3 month old doing tummy time and holding his head up :) Sorry for the long winded post but I'm sure if your looking for care you care to read what locals have to say. My kids are my heart, and I don't have to worry at all with them here. BTW: I only had 1 instance where my older son was sick, and he was here for 2 years so that IS expected and normal. I never had any concerns regarding cleanliness. They care about the upkeep and you will see beautiful art work posted on the bulletin boards. They do annual class photo's, fundraisers, etc.

Scheduled an interview which was confirmed and then promptly cancelled by the business. Had to call…read moreand ask why (explanation: "We are not doing tours or visits"). They went on to say my 2.5 year old son would first have to enroll (so money would need to be exchanged and contracts signed) and then (and only then) would he (and only he) be allowed into their business. I was informed that I would not under any circumstances be allowed through their doors: "We would show him around but you can't go in with him." This is not recommended behavior by any child care policy setting body in the US. It's sickening to think that this business actually thinks this is an acceptable way to introduce toddlers to day care. It's actually alarming and disgusting.

They keep me up to date on all his developments, and I can tell how much they care about him. The curriculum for all kids is great and is teaching them at a very young age about art, music, language, science/math, etc. My sons language and comprehension has skyrocketed because of these folks and I couldn't be happier. Keri, the director, is wonderful and very responsive. Excited to be a part of the TLE family for many years to come.
