Surprisingly, there were a lot of good skaters, better than the average that I have seen, which made it more fun!!! I will definitely be back for the Sunday adult night! Btw the DJ was one of the best hip hop DJs I have experienced at a roller rink ever and I have been to several rinks across the country. For about 8 weeks, one night a week at 45 min per class, it's around $80. It's not Olympic training gymnastics or competing training, it's more of an introduction but it's good. Especially in winter, a place like this is a godsend. That being said, the Northeast Regional Recreation Center isn't in the best shape, at least the portion I've visited. My son spent the winter playing indoor soccer here. The nets and goals seem like they have seen better days. The turf did appear to be fine. Another issue with this rec center is the parking. If you get here early or play the first round of games, you are rewarded with parking. Otherwise it is really hit or miss. There is a lot of waiting in lines and being patient while vehicles try to turn around in cramped spaces (only one way in and out of the parking lot). Most of the time we wound up parking at the shopping center and trudging through the ice and snow and darkness to our games. Ultimately, I'm glad there is a place for indoor soccer (and indoor walking which I would do during his games) but I have definitely been to nicer rec centers and hope this one can be updated.

The parking lot is great and there is two parts to it so there is plenty of room to find that perfect spot! This is one of the locations that people come to vote at depending on where you are registered. I do typically take my dogs here from time to time just to have time to run the big fields and feel free from the world! They love it even though it is not a dog park but I have a whole gang so we make our own fun lol. The old building is still in use. The old building also has a children playground, tennis and basketball court around it. If your kid is signed up for leagues there you may be utilizing both buildings. Either way I believe you will enjoy!

I was running late for my daughters bball game so I didn't want to be rushed however; it is the security and safety of the people in the building that concerns me. They need to stop everyone and make them sign in and inquire as to where they are going as well as check ID's. That's what I have had to do at other Rec centers. Otherwise it was nice inside, clean, and several options of things to do. There was a table of snacks before you enter the gym where they sell snacks also.

This is still my favorite of all the Maryland Y's. I'll confess that I've been away for a while…read more Gyms are always crowded in January, so I just stay away. But I'm back, and they have new equipment! Yay! I didn't feel like anything was wrong (except for the SkiErg that keeps breaking. I wish they'd get a Concept2 version), but I came back to True equipment. Now there are two seated row machines and two lat pull-downs. The dip machine is a standalone machine by itself. They also added a glute builder machine. It's not a version I've used before, but it'll do. Lastly, I always finish with time in the sauna. It's always nice & hot.
