Although it was a bit crowded at the bar, service wasn't too bad. However, one of the book club members specifically asked for a drink without alcohol and ended up receiving a frozen lemonade with alcohol. So she left upset. As far as food: super mid. I was actually surprised when I cut into my fried chicken sandwich and it was a bit pink. The chef himself assured me the food was cooked but it just had that color because of the brine. Idk sounds like they should change the brine then. Loaded waffle fries were also kind of gross because there was so much oil. Seems like it's a place locals enjoy, I'm glad I'm not a local.

Loved this place!…read more Located in what used to be an old train station, this spot is as cool on the outside as it is on the inside. The vibe is fun and family-friendly, with plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. Inside, there are games for kids, making it a great hangout for all ages. I ordered the Pineapple Express cocktail, super tasty and strong! For food, I went with the half order of beef brisket, fried chicken, mac and cheese, and cornbread. The fried chicken was stellar, juicy, tender, and full of flavor. Everything was solid, but that chicken really stood out. It's located in Lackawanna Plaza, which has a trendy, up-and-coming feel with several other eateries to explore. I'll definitely be back to try more from the menu and maybe check out the rest of the plaza while I'm at it!

I've had me some soul food in Mississippi and 'Bama, though at a fraction of the price you get up North. Look, it's a Montclair thing. Pluses: Black owned restaurant serving cultural staples, plus foods for people who don't want Southern. Ambiance featured soul music, and at one point was playing Shaft! I can dig it. You're not left wanting for food quantity or quality. Plenty of shrimp in the grits, for example. Server was very pleasant to talk to with a little Southern twang to her voice. Why not five stars: Flavor needs deepening. For example, in the South I'm used to seeing okra chopped and breaded before being fried. Maybe more oily that way, more carbs... but more flavor as a result. I had the pulled chicken mac, which was a bit smaller of a dish overall (a bit intentional on my part) - and while the cheese flavors run deep, the meat did not. Shrimp and grits, I took a quick sample of my friend's grits and... I bet you can guess my finding there. Still, a very nice change from the usual Northern selection of foods. I would not hesitate to say Sweet T's is authentic and a nice visit if you're in town. You'll be paying a pretty penny wherever you eat, so you can tag this one on your list.

The wait staff was fantastic in waiting on us as well as offering us a seat immediately upon entry. There were many servers on the floor, availing if anyone needed anything. We mentioned it was our first time, the quality of explanation of the menu lacked. We didn't really understand or enjoy what we ate. Think it's important to mention we are both black women from the American South. Maybe we ordered wrong (which I don't believe in but .... I'll digress) Maybe it was a bad day Maybe I'll try again!! We'll see.

It can be easy to miss since it's on the lower level. The restaurant is chill, basic, several tables and chairs, menu on the wall... the logo and two tvs ...all the things needed to eat chicken in peace. Although the restaurant itself is nothing to write home about, but THE CHICKEN is delicious. I went on a Sunday afternoon and there was no one down there so I was instantly greeted by an older Asian man. He took my order and welcomed me to grab a seat and in about 15 minutes out came deliciousness. I ordered the garlic soy wings and mozzarella sticks (idk why I did) ... Listen we won't focus on the mozzarella sticks, let's focus on the Chicken. I took my order to go and when I got to finally eat it, the chicken was still hot and crispy even after about 30mins went by from the time I left the restaurant. The sweet/savory and spicy flavor definitely had me wanting more! I will be back for sure!
