Diesel and Duke in Montclair has recently become one of my go-to burger spots. Their Impossible burgers are seriously delicious, and I love that their fries are real potatoes with the skins on -- not the overly processed kind you get at most places. I usually order through Uber Eats (there's often a great deal), and the food still arrives warm and tasty. Definitely recommend if you're in the area and want a great quick burger and fries!

Very friendly staff and very clean inside. Spacious with room to sit. Came when they first opened. Everything was fresh. Burger was absolutely outstanding. Smash burger type. Very juicy with great tasting sauce. Fries were good and milkshake were good but that burger was the highlight by far! One of the best I've had.

Love coming to this place. Their smash burgers are top tier and their Cajun fries are great as well.

Got Diesel and Duke's to go and it was one of the best burgers I've ever had. This thing traveled in the car 20 minutes before I ate it at home and it was still incredible. The bun is soft and you get the melted cheese and burger taste on it. The bacon was crispy, and the burger was so flavorful and came with some awesome sauce and grilled onions. Ordered fries on the side which were also super flavorful and crispy. This place is a 10/10 and must try for burger fans!

This is specific to the newly opened Church St location in Montclair Nothing like a good old burger, fries and soda! Tasted great, service was on point, food came out quickly...and I was able to sit outside on Montclair's bustling Church St and people watch while I gulped it down! Doesn't get better than that, to spend a lazy weekend afternoon on a sunny day!

Loved the burgers! Holypeno was the right amount spice with jalapeños and the double duke smash were amazing. Love that they have monthly shakes. The gingerbread shake was delicious. Will definitely come back for some more juicy burgers.

Great burger experience at Diesel and Duke! First time at this local burger spot in the Montclair area. Not really a sit down spot so order ahead for a quicker turn around. We got the standard and the holypeño burgers. Both were full of flavor and very satisfying. They don't shy away from adding jalepeños so make sure you're okay with that before ordering. Add a fried egg if you love yourself. Cajun fries were great too, first time having these, they were crispy and salty with warm southern feel. Service was delightful, very nice people working the orders. They also have mexican sodas for sale which was also my first. Would return!

So is it only worth going in the winter if you're getting take-out? Comments make it sound like there aren't a lot of indoor seats.

It is worth it to get take-out if you are concerned about the cold in the winter and not getting a seat as there are few seats inside. It is worth it to get take-out or dine-in no matter what season it is in my opinion.

Plus, my husband is a fan of their dairy-free chocolate chip cookies, so the Montclair location is a late-night haunt. My dude sticks to his usual order, but I like to try out the limited recipes when they drop. My favorite so far has been Strawberry Shortcake Chip Crookie. Heads up, the crookies are really like muffins. Anytime I've gone inside the shop to pick-up, the people behind the counter are always friendly and have a good vibe. Chip City is a franchise that specializes in baking cookies with a soft, gooey center. The Montclair location is on a busy main street. Street parking is difficult to find during peak hours. It's conveniently open until 1AM on weeknights and 3AM on weekends! When I walked in, I couldn't get over how cute and bright the store was. It's small with very limited seating. To whoever is in charge of the marketing, design, and logos... kudos to you! A very sweet and friendly employee answered all of my questions and helped me out. Since I came much later in the evening, I was worried there wouldn't be that many cookies available, but I was wrong. There were plenty AND they were still fresh too! They offer classic flavors as well as seasonal and specialty ones. Flavors are rotated weekly and you can check the website for the line-up. Dairy free options are available. There's a ton of creative flavors, so don't miss out! In addition to regular cookies, they also sell crookies (croissant/cookie hybrid), cretzels (croissant/pretzel/cookie hybrid), ice cream, and merchandise! Each cookie is around $5+, but trust me... they are dense, large, and can be shared with other people. Did I want to buy 4? Yes... but I have self control (sometimes) LOL, so I stuck with buying a classic Cookies N' Cream. It has a buttery sugar cookie base loaded with crushed chocolate cookie sandwiches and creamy white chocolate - basically tastes like an Oreo milkshake! What I love about these cookies is that they don't just taste like a giant blob of sugar. You can actually appreciate and distinguish between the different flavors and ingredients. If you prefer crispy/crunchy cookies, you probably won't be a fan. If you enjoy cookies with a slightly crunchy exterior, but a soft, warm, ooey, gooey (almost raw-like) interior, Chip City is for you! Every bite is sweet & decadent, but not overwhelming. Don't forget to sign up for their rewards program to get discounts and freebies! GET GOOEY!!!

***3 1/2 stars***…read more Yesterday I decided on a total whim to just grab lunch here before seeing Disclosure Day across the street. I've walked by a gazillion times, usually in the mid-afternoon or evening when the place is really jumping (at least based on the outdoor seating situation). This time around, I came for an early lunch around 11:30am when there were only a few other people sitting down and I had my pick of indoor or outdoor seating. I didn't get much of a look at the interior during my brief trip inside, but it seemed pleasant enough. Morally I didn't have much of a choice though but to sit outside at their communal picnic tables, given that it was sunny and 72. You do the math. As most of my solo eating adventures go, the service was excellent. It definitely helped that it wasn't busy, but both waitresses on the premises were super attentive and I ordered my meal literally within 30 seconds of sitting down. I wasn't on a hardcore schedule (my movie wasn't for an hour and 15 minutes) but I was in and out in probably 20-25 minutes, which is just wild for a legit sit-down meal. Top marks all around. I liked that they kept a bottle of tap at my table too; just efficient there. As soon as I saw gnocchi on the menu, my decision was made. I went with the gnocchi al pomodoro off the lunch entree menu, which was honestly just okay. This is usually a dish I really enjoy, and while it was clearly fresh (the chunks of mozzy are a nice touch) it was pretty bland and tasteless. It's extremely rare for me to look around for seasoning, but I did here (and didn't see any within range, so let it go). Honestly very surprising. The gnocchi itself was fine, but the pieces were so small it was actually difficult to eat/get them onto the fork tines. I had to scoop most of them up, and it was a slow process. Not the biggest deal in the world (the gnocchi was tasty in and of itself) but just a slight annoyance. The price point was fine; with tip, I paid a little over $20, which is on par for Montclair. Maybe it was just an off day/lunch, but I think the play is to come back for dinner with a bottle of wine and get a different dish. This place is very popular (during my brief meal, several people walked by openly declaring they were going to stop by later to eat) so perhaps a few grains of salt here, which would have been nice to add to my dish.
