What an amazing restaurant we stumbled upon. We were walking up Bloomfiled Ave and couldn't decide what we wanted to eat. We looked down and there was Seoul Bistro. It's easy to miss and walk but so glad we didn't. It was a Sunday night around 6:30 and the place was happening. I was so surprised to see it so busy. We got seated right away and immediately were served kimchi, macaroni salad, watercress with tofu and pumpkin. What an amazing surprise and delight. We ordered and my husband got the spicy chicken and rice stone bowl and I got the tofu stone bowl. Both were so good. Soup also came with our meal but since it was a meat based broth I couldn't have any. At the end of our email they came by with the most delicious cinnamon and ginger tea. Soooo goood! The food was not exactly what I was hoping for. It wasn't bad but it wasn't the classic Korean dishes that I am familiar with. The scallion chicken being the most confusing. I am used to stringier scallions, almost like noodles, with a creamy white sauce. The dessert also was not what I expected. Usual bingsoo is shaved ice of water or milk. We came here for an early dinner and there were already a couple tables filled. The restaurant is located on the lower level. We were welcomed by a friendly hostess and quickly seated. Service throughout was really friendly. The interior of the restaurant is also pretty and modern. We ordered the LA Galbi, rose tteokbokki, and a pork tofu soup with level 1 spicy. Food came out quickly and hot. I was really looking forward to the LA Galbi but was disappointed that it was kind of salty but of course if you ate it with the white rice, it paired fine. Beautiful aesthetic as soon as you walk in. Its calm but also inviting and warm. Service was friendly although we had to get our server's attention once as it had been a while since he last checked on us and we needed something. Not really a big deal though as he was also very polite. Japchae appetizer was good but we mentioned one of our companions was vegan and so no meat, just veggies, but the egg wasnt omitted. for my main, i got their pork belly kimchi hot stone. It was a generous portion however I dont think I'll get that again only because I prefer my pork hotstone savory rather than sour from the kimchi. The kimchi gave that tanginess. We started with the Seafood jeon... a seafood pancake... which had a lot of seafood and was served crispy and hot. Upon entering the restaurant, we were amazed by how beautiful the interior was. The dim lighting and minimalistic furniture made the space so visually appealing. All of our food was delicious. This is Korean fusion. Not an authentic Korean restaurant. I would never order takeout. They give you no banchan but charge you the same as if you dined in On top of that they were so disorganised. I had to find 3 different people until somone found my to go order. But even then, they screwed up my tofu soup. I asked for light spicy. They gave me the maximum spicy possible. They skimp out on tofu. They use cheap frozen beef with minimal tofu. I asked for a soondubu, not a chili hot pot with chewy, dry beef. If it were an authentic Korean place, they'd give you more ground beef and load up the soup with tofu. Dine in if you are nearby. Avoid takeout. read more

We started with the Korean chicken sampler, it was tasty. Preferred the soy. I had what the menu described as "Thick slices of grilled pork belly". Well they were not thick and not very tender. The pork belly was served on a bed of raw onions. I would have eaten them if they were sautéd. My mate had the spiced pork & squid, he did not enjoy it. Stumbled upon this place on a random Saturday night and I was blown away. I loved the aesthetic of the restaurant! It was cute descending the stairs with the string lights and projector screen upon arrival. We did a walk in, put our names down and were sat within 30 mins. We ordered a yuzu ade, mango ade, and a mocktail. We loved the lemonade drinks so much, but my friend didn't really care for his mocktail. We only ordered fried dumplings and a chicken sampler. There was more than enough kaarage for everybody, we got full and didn't order entrees but we will be back for more. Took myself on a solo date on a Saturday night, walked in at 7pm and almost every table was full or had a reserved sign. She said it would take 20-30mins but literally sat me in 5 mins. Very cute restaurant, nicely lit and the outdoor area is super cute. Service was great and my server was attentive. I ordered the seafood jeon, nice portion even for a single person. Nice and crispy, good dipping sauce. The soft Tofu soup with beef, spicy 1 level was perfect. Just enough spice without being spicy. Still figuring itself out. Came here for dinner with family who was visiting down out of town. They were Korean and wanted Korean food so we thought we would give this a try. I had to ask 3 more times to 3 people total one of whom was the manager and still didn't get an answer until the 4th time. I asked for a paper menu 3 times before we got it. Food (4/5) Bimbimbap solid portion and my FIL seemed happy with it! I would absolutely come back here regularly! I would recommend getting a few things and sharing because the variety is part of what makes this such a great experience. We got the japchae, the kimchi jeon, the vegetable dumplings, the pork belly, the sweet and spicy chicken, green tea, and they also brought a kale salad and some broth. The japchae was fantastic! The noodles absorb all of the sauce flavor and the veggies shine. I personally would get this without meat and even then it feels like a full plate. The veggie dumplings and kimchi jeon were both great sides. The chicken had a great spice, almost numbing which was different from gojujang and I appreciated the variety of spice flavor. The pork belly had this incredible sauce on the size which I could eat a tub of, something fermented and slightly sweet, I think. The kale salad and broth were great palate cleansers and we had some small bowls of veggies that rounded out the dishes which had radishes, squash and kimchi. The prices were reasonable and I would definitely go back and try more items or just eat what we got all over again. Originally I was concerned about how spicy things would be but everything was not overly spicy, assuming you have some tolerance but maybe not extremely high tolerance. This place replaced where CM chicken used to be in an area that's easy to miss, but don't miss out and head down the stairs to this cute and tasty spot! We were pleasantly surprised by the food and prices. I thoroughly enjoyed all the dishes, super flavorful, and nice presentation. As you walk down the steps to the entrance of Seoul Bistro, you are transported to a peaceful and calming space. We were warmly greeted when we arrived, and sat at a lovely table. Our server was very pleasant and helpful. We started with some pear tea, which was delicious. Then a very nice selection of banchan arrived. We ordered the Kimchi Jeon for an appetizer. Crispy and packed with flavor, this dish was great. For dinner, we had the Ssam Bap for two. This dish came with a choice of soup, and either bulgogi or spicy pork. We chose the Soybean Soup and Bulgogi. You get rice, sauce, and a large plate of veggies to make the lettuce rolls. Everything was sensational! Honestly, I think that four people could have eaten from the size of the portions. There are so many more dishes that I want to try, that I will definitely return. I was just browsing downtown area for a lunch with family and we stumbled across this new restaurant. It's a little hidden and at the bottom of a set of stairs at the corner of Park Street. Interior gave trendy-cafe vibes, and we were pleasantly surprised! Best dishes were the boneless soy garlic fried chicken, seafood pancake and ssam-bap set. Chicken had just the right crunchy texture and the sauce was a light glaze. I thought the set's bulgogi was tasty but a little dry -- otherwise everything was plated elegantly. The steamed egg and sujeonggwa were a nice complimentary gesture too! I think our stone plate bibimbap could have been hotter; the plate wasn't hot enough to add much texture to the rice, and we might as well have ordered the normal bibimbap. Service was relatively attentive, and particularly the lady at front of house was both friendly and frequently checked on us. We had two slightly dirty small plates that our waiter was more than happy to swap out. So excited to try this place. The space is beautifully designed and the staff is very welcoming and attentive. The menu offers a variety of traditional Korean dishes and delicious drinks/mocktails. Similar to other reviews, it seems they are still figuring things out. We wanted to start our dinner with specific appetizers then enjoy our shared entrees. All the food was served at once starting with the mixed fried chicken sampler. Our table was quickly super crowded with ALL the dishes at once which was incredibly hard to maneuver around and it was impossible to enjoy the dishes as we all felt very overwhelmed. We had to rush to eat quickly to enjoy the food while hot. It just wasn't a pleasant experience and the pace didn't work for us at all. It was also very hard to fit the food on the table and maneuver around properly. The speed at which all this food was served was concerning- as if most was not freshly prepared. My food came really well packaged, and I was impressed that they separated the broth from the knife-cut noodles because then I would only be eating soggy noodles. However, this place, like most Korean places, is so overpriced. I would expect that a nearly $50 dinner order would at least get me the side dishes to go as well, and the amount of meat and egg in my knife-cut noodles was quite sad. I wanted to like this place but unfortunately it's mid at best. Came Sunday night there was maybe 4 or 5 parties at best and we were seated for a while and no one came to check on us. I had to wave someone down to take our orders, no one asked not once how we were doing/how did the food come out, and we were only asked if we wanted dessert after our food was packed and we were about to head out lol. Hoping that the food would make up for it, unfortunately not really I would said say things were just okay. Came with a friend after visiting the Van Vleck House & Gardens. We arrived right around opening on Friday and was sat immediately. The first thing we noticed was how unsuspectingly aesthetic the restaurant is. There are two levels to the seating area. The main seating area is indoors on the ground level down a flight of stairs with natural lighting flowing in and gave a cozy cafe vibe. The second seating area is outdoors and half flight of stairs from the Main Street and a half flight of stairs from the main seating area. The second seating area consisted of around three tables and it seems that they had a projector to display images/ videos on the empty wall behind the tables. We thought the concept was fun and interesting! Service was quick and we were offered the option of both a paper menu and a QR code menu. I thought the paper menu was a nice touch considering most restaurants do rely mostly on a QR code menu. Right after we ordered our server brought out the banchan which consisted of sliced kimchi, braised squash, and a tofu veggie dish. Enjoyed most of the banchan but thought the portions were on the smaller side. My favorite was the squash banchan which had a tender but firm texture and had a subtle sweetness which I rather liked. On the other hand I thought the tofu veggie dish was a little bland and wasn't seasoned enough. We ordered the Braised Short Ribs and Short Rib Soup to share. The Braised Short Rib dish comes with two bowls of rice while the Short Rib Soup comes with one bowl of rice. We also received two small bowls of steamed egg with our entrees. The Braised Short Ribs came on a sizzling plate with daikon, mushrooms, carrots, dates, and jalapeños. The carrots, jalapeños, daikon, and mushrooms gave the dish more depth in both flavor and texture. The dates were a good flavor break to the fatty and savory taste of the short rib. The first two short ribs I had were amazing in terms of both flavor and texture. The short ribs fell off the bone and was delicious with the classic sweet and savory flavoring. Since the short ribs came on a sizzling plate, leaving the short ribs on the plate for an extended time causes the texture to become tougher. The Short Rib Soup was hearty and seasoned well with just the right amount of salt and pepper. The soup consisted of significant amounts of short rib, scallions, ribbons of fried egg, and glass noodles. This dish really put my chopstick skills to the test with the glass noodles. A scoop of warm soup topped with a bite of glass noodles and a bite of short rib was worth the struggle Our server was very attentive, offering to bring over extra bowls for sharing the dishes, explaining what each dish was and what they consisted of, and checked up on us a good amount. There was also another employee that made sure that the water cups were always filled which I feel adds to the attentiveness of the employees.
