Amazing coffee, lots of space, very friendly baristas who patiently explain what's in every drink and how to accomodate people's different dietary preferences, and fabulous vibe and ambience! I couldn't love this place more. I tried their café nordique which was excellent and quite strong. They have an eclectic array of desserts and drinks with great names (like Parisian Mist which is just a London Fog) but no food! They also have plenty of space and outlets if you want to bring in your laptop and get some work and studying done in a cute coffee shop. One of the nicer coffee shops in Kingston. The atmosphere is very welcoming with rustic decor and the coffee tastes great! There are a few winter options that you can try the Oat Milk Cookie Latte. Perfect blend of study space with open windows and well lit areas, and locals coming to just enjoy a carefree day. Such a great addition to Kingston's coffee scene. Bae and I stopped in to grab a coupla joes to go. Service was polite and friendly. Treats looked super delicious but we had just eaten so I will have to try next visit. Lots of seating, including places to work on your laptop. One of the things I love about Balzac's is that even though it's a chain, it doesn't feel like one. The shop has a very cozy and welcoming feel, and the decor is original. In terms of set up, I like how the bar is long so that right when you walk in you see the espresso drinks being made. The wooden, round tables are also a nice touch. Most importantly, the coffee tastes good and they have amazing vegan food and drinks. Unlike any other cafe, Balzac's offers macadamia milk in addition to almond milk, vanilla soy milk, and regular soy milk. I've only ever ordered a cold iced matcha drink and a hot matcha drink from Balzac's before. Both were good! Atmosphere is good for a place to chat and the outdoor tables with umbrellas is nice over the summer. The bathrooms do get pretty occupied though because they only have 2 so I've seen long lineups before. The famed Toronto coffee chain is finally here in Kingston! Everything about the shop is perfect - the floors, the lighting, the furniture. So far, the baristas are very friendly and helpful, the cafe is bright and airy and it's a great place to do some work, meet up with friends and enjoy some of the best coffee possible.
