So, I love donuts and this place makes awesome donuts! The flavours are "regular flavours" like apple fritters, chocolate glazed, Boston cream, etc. There are no fancy hipster frou-frou flavours like London Fog, lemon lavender, strawberry matcha, etc. And the prices are good, $1.40 a donut, $8.25 for half a dozen, or $14 for a dozen. I got half a dozen: blueberry fritter, apple and spice, Bavarian cream, honey crueller, Canadian (maple) cream, and apple fritter. My husband and I shared the honey crueller right away, and it was so fluffy and melt in your mouth. The best honey crueller I've ever had. I've been ruined forever; how can I ever go back to honey cruellers at Tim Hortons? When we got back to Ottawa, I ate a quarter of each type of other donut we got. They were also fluffy and delicious, but the honey crueller was the best. I will be dreaming about the honey crueller. This is an old school donut shop, no frills. Staff are really nice but a little rough around the edges. It's in a strip mall that looks a little rundown, but don't be deterred, the donuts are worth it! There is lots of free parking. read more

A beacon of light when you're in need of a late night snack. A glimmer of hope in the darkness of Kingston at 2am in the morning. Massive shoutout to the kind lady at the counter who always has a smile on her face and radiates positivity. High quality food and high quality experience for affordable prices. 10/10 would recommend if you're a student (with a car). BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK IN TERMS OF DOUGHNUTS! I had heard that the toasted coconut and apple fritter donuts were to do for and they did not disappoint. They had good texture and good flavour. Plus they weren't too oily like some donuts are; they were pretty fluffy. Also, for just over a dollar each, how could you ever go wrong? Yeah the neighborhood is a little bleak and dysfunction junction. but this is a dirty little secret amongst Kingstonians. The strudel and muffins in here are fantastic. Salem MA has Ziggy's, Nasheville TN has Donut Den (amongst others) and Kingston ON has Coffee Way. I sunk my teeth into a giant cinnamon donut that looked like a bear claw - PERFECT. They were out of their "Glazed Maple" (my donut litmus test) but my friend ordered the Boston Cream and seemed very happy with his choice. They have a tried and true selection of mostly yeast donuts but also boast an array of squares, tarts etc. They also do soups/sandwiches but didn't explore that as it was a donut-centric day. The atmosphere is unpretentious, locally haunted and brightly lit in only a way that a dentist office, school room or donut shop can be. So if you're driving between Montreal and Toronto and fancy an alternative to the usual, take the Division exit. - it's not far from the highway! read more

Seems to be perpetually understaffed. Never has any donuts ready regardless of what time of day it is. Food is great when they actually have it ready but they never do. It's open 24 hours a day and you might happen upon freshly made, still warm donuts. My favourite, hands down, is the chocolate walnut - a heavy, cakey, square donut that has the savoury-ness of chunks of walnuts and crispy fried crust with a generous coating of glaze for sweetness. The fritters are also huge and delicious, a close second. You will have trouble deciding on a donut so bring friends to share and try a few. Just because of the few bad experiences the staff have decided to treat every student of Regi like scum and are very unwelcoming. They never make eye contact, complain about having to heat up bagels, and judge you on your method of payment. I grew up just blocks away from this place (and kept living there for a long while after I'd grown up), and went to the high school across the street, so do I ever have a history with this place. It's classic 24-hour coffee shop fare, complete with curmudgeonly old lady staff and old Portuguese guys always having coffee with their newspapers, and I'm old enough to remember when people still smoked in the place- except for no smoking, nothing has changed. One thing stands out for me- the doughnuts! And the smell of doughnuts- in evenings it's not uncommon for this craptastic neighborhood to smell deliciously of fresh baking/frying doughnuts (and then go a few more blocks north, and you'll get the bread from the bakery on Railway street. Nicely masks all the drug addict and boozer smells...). My Dad was a musician and often got back late from gigs on weekend nights. When he did? He would always stop by on the way home and pick up a box of FRESH-OUT-OF-THE-FRYER doughnuts. I didn't care if it was 3 am and i had to haul his drum kit in first, a huge blueberry cruller not even twenty minutes old is AMAZING and I always needed to wet several napkins to eat it I'd be so sticky with sugar glaze. The doughnuts are classic flavours, nothing too innovative, but delicious and just the way that they should be. And big. I like Tim's, but their doughnuts really have got nothing on these. VERY busy at lunchtimes with Regi across the street (they also provided a student discount the decade ago when I was in high school), and also a late-night favourite with the area police officers, I always saw squad cars out front on weekend nights with a cop walking back out with a box of delicious. read more
