I got the brisket sandwich. The meat was excellent. I also sampled the pork ribs, so flavorful and tender! My sister got the turkey, it was also superb. All of the meat was excellent. We got beans, mac and cheese and coleslaw for sides. I did not care for any of the sides. It was too bad, I was surprised at how off putting the sides were since the meat was so excellent. No, Swachos have nothing to do with swass after eating nachos. BUT they have everything to do with BBQ NACHOS. I'm talking Pulled Pork (or Brisket or Chopped Beef), Beans, Sweet BBQ Sauce, & Nacho Cheese piled on Tortilla Chips. So cussing good. I didn't even order them for myself, though I ended up stealing my [un]fair share of bites. I ordered the Brisket with Mac n Cheese and Coleslaw. The brisket was on point, with the right amount of tender meat, fattiness, and burnt ends. Coleslaw is a solid A-, and the Mac n Cheese earns an easy A in my book. It's already delicious swimming in the ooey gooey nacho cheese sauce but then they top it WITH GOLDFISH CRUMBS. Genius move. The goldfish provide a nice crunch while also bringing back all the best memories of my childhood. One of our favorite places in Utah County. Their brisket is better than any place we've been. Cooked to perfection. The sometimes run out, so don't wait too long in the evening if you're hoping to get some. They have great sides too. Went here on a vague recollection of a recommendation from a coworker and didn't know what to try, so we got a little bit of everything. It was all fantastic! I especially liked the burnt ends of the brisket (no extra charge), which I lucked into as is was the last of a brisket, but my wife and kids liked the turkey. The sides were just as tasty. My only disappointment was that they were out of ribs and coleslaw for the day, but I plan to return soon, earlier in the evening, to try these items. Just walking outside this place is a pleasure-fest for your nostrils. We got brisket and though I would have liked more free fixings, for a half pound of meat and the unique BBQ flavor they have this was really worth the price. The meat is perfectly seasoned, the portions are awesome, the atmosphere is eclectic and homey, and they have one of the best BBQ sauces I've tasted. They have a map on the wall where you are able to pin where you are from (though when we went they were out of pins, so we used a thumb tack that had fallen to the floor... haha). Customer Service = 1 star Food quality = 1 star STORY TIME. After calling in to place an order, I was told to just come into the store to place it. Then when I got there, I placed the order, and the manager came out and yelled at me telling me that I needed to order a day ahead, complaining of how rude it was of me etc. even after paying them 200.00+ dollars for a work lunch party celebrating one or our employees last day. This is ridiculous. Horrible management, horrible food, horrible place. I will refuse to recommend people here after this experience. We purposefully drive the long way home from SD to Boise JUST to stop here. My husband talks about it all year long until our annual trip. He says that the brisket literally melts in his mouth! Had a family lunch of catered Bam Bams! What a great job they do of packing the food, no leaks and kept the food at the right temperature. We had the pulled pork which was perfectly cooked and amazing. And the brisket was tender and a good bark. I love BBQ sauce (not much of a fan of other sauces). This sauce was the bomb! Not too sweet or spicy either. Their rolls are lights out good. Fluffy yet hold the meat. I'm not a fan of coleslaw but this stuff was good! I don't know what's in but I enjoyed it. The potato salad was fairly good, a little too sweet for my liking. I've been in person too and love their variety of sauces! read more

*Utah Fan here*. I just saw on Twitter that Bam Bam's got a sports related 1 star review. I follow the restaurant because I took a BBQ class from them a month or two ago. Cam Treu ran the class himself and outside of the BYU love and Utah "hate" it was excellent. I'm a die hard Utah fan. I'd love to see BYU never beat Utah again but if I'm reviewing the restaurant instead of the sport team stance I'll say the BBQ class and the food in the restaurant was amazing. 5 stars from me, I'll change it to 6 if you start talking up Utah instead of BYU. read more

I have one word for you: SWATCHOS. What are Swatchos exactly? Well, basically, BBQ Nachos (which are apparently the greatest thing I'd never had before). Usually I'm more of a brisket girl, but my friend was craving pulled pork so we went with that as our topping. We also opted to get the toppings on the side so the chips didn't get soggy (I'd probably recommend it this way too). There isn't much that you can do wrong when you put bbq meat + beans + molten nacho cheese + sour cream together and I loved every bite. If I was being critical I'd really like to see some sliced nacho jalapeños up on that ish and spicier options on the bbq sauce, but I like everything I eat to burn my face off so take that with a grain of salt if spice isn't your jam. The bbq quality is solid too, I got to have a few bites of my Fiancés brisket (which is totes shareable if you're aiming for a lighter lunch) and it was delicious and they make sure to give you burnt ends too. read more

This place has got to be in my top three of best BBQ places to eat at in Utah county. I am a die hard fan of their brisket. Melts in your mouth goodness. I'm drooling just thinking about it! Whenever I come, service is always very friendly. I get the brisket sandwich combo which comes with the sandwich, side and a drink. They use huge rolls to stuff meat into and they're always so soft and fluffy. The only reason I don't give this place five stars is that the sides they have to choose from aren't that great and they don't have much options to choose from. My boyfriend doesn't even like any of the sides and usually the tries to opt out of getting a side altogether because he doesn't eat any of them but they insist on getting something which usually ends up being the bagged chips. Finally! I've been searching Utah for REAL bbq, and I found it at Bam Bam's. Summary: Just go. And be hungry when you go. I'd been hearing about this new place for awhile and finally got down to Provo last week. We went for dinner and between the 4 of us got 1/2 lb each of all the meats, plus 3 sides. First impression: it's a nice, clean restaurant, with very fitting decor that has plenty of personality (it has to be a little quirky to be a local hot spot, right?). The staff (including the owner, Mr. Bam Bam himself) are all very friendly and helpful. But hey, we're here for the meat, so let's get to it: Brisket: this is how brisket is supposed to be! You can tell he doesn't use cheap meat. It was full of just the right amount of flavor, it was super tender (as in, cut-it-with-a-plastic-fork tender), super juicy ... just everything a brisket should be. I could eat that brisket for breakfast, lunch & dinner every day for a week. Also, I liked the brisket. Did I mention that? Pork: If you have to choose between pork and a side dish, get the pork. This stuff is like meat candy. They chop it and mix the sauce in right in front of you. Nice. Ribs: Yes! Big, meaty spare ribs (I'm convinced baby back ribs are a scam created by Chili's. Anyway...) wonderful flavor, fall-off-the-bone tender - again, my thought was, "This is how ribs are supposed to be done." Mmm. Turkey: I've never been a huge turkey fan, but this smoked sliced turkey was really good. Juicy, tender, cooked right, and went great with the sauces. Sides: Potato salad (great), beans (chili-like), I can't remember the other one. They're fine, but I'll be honest ... I go to places like this for the meat, so I didn't pay much attention to the sides. The food does come with a big stack of Wonder Bread, aka "The Edible Napkin". I lol'd. Sauces: There's a sweet and a tangy sauce, both of which went great with the meats. Honestly though, these meats didn't need much sauce, and I like meat for meat so I don't use much anyway. But if you like your food swimming in it, you'll do just fine with these sauces. Drinks: I get the impression Bam Bam may be a fan of Mountain Dew ... you'll see what I mean when you get there. Presentation: All the meat you order is sliced or chopped right in front of you. Cool. One of the quirks of this "Texas-style" bbq joint is there are no plates - you get a sheet of butcher paper to slap your food on. Between that and the plastic utensils, it's simple, which I'm fine with because (have you figured me out yet?) you can focus on the meat. Price: Like I said, you can tell they don't use cheap meat here, so it's a bit above average on price. But it won't break the bank, and you definitely know you're getting your money's worth. Comparisons: It's almost laughable that Dickey's "fast-food bbq" is right down the street. Bam Bam's makes them taste like McDonald's. The other dozen places I've tried from SLC to Cedar City & around the country (see my other reviews) are all now just average at best, and I won't be able to enjoy them again after coming to Bam Bam's and discovering meat's true potential. Bottom line: Go to Bam Bam's and treat yourself to real bbq. You won't regret it. read more

The food is good, not amazing (4 star based on food alone). The problem with BBQ in Utah is that the price you pay for the amount of food you get is off. You go to the south and you can easily get 1/2 pound for what you pay for 1/4 pound in Utah. Unfortunately Bam Bam's like all the other Utah BBQ restaurants overcharge and they weigh out to make sure they don't give you extra food. I am a fan of smoked and Pit meats and BAM! Bam Bam's hit the spot. The turkey was moist with a great deep flavor. The Cole Slaw was a little creamy, with some good pepper accents. I like a bit more vinegar, but that's okay. The man behind the counter recommended I try it and then add some of their Carolina vinegar if necessary. The vinegar sauce on the table was amazing. One of the better ones I've had recently. I'm used to a bit more variety of BBQ sauces, but they cover the bases: vinegar, sweet, and a little heat. Fun decor in the store that I'm sure the locals love. Pictures in photo section. Was happy their Fixings bar included whole jalapeños. Good places know that's a must. I'll add to the tips section, meats are shaved to order, so just because the menu says 1/2 lb doesn't mean you have to order that much (or that little). Is it better than Dickey's? You betcha. Is it the best BBQ in Utah Valley? I haven't found better. Is it the best BBQ I've ever had? Not a chance. This is Austin-style barbecue and it's not bad stuff. I had the brisket and the pulled pork and overall had a satisfying meal. The brisket was the better of the two meats. It had a great smoke ring and juicy but not too fatty. It's clearly had some TLC put into it. I wasn't impressed with the pulled pork, which is typically my favorite meat. First off, I love a pork that has spent the end of its cooking period already pulled and simmering in sauce. This isn't like that, but it's certainly not a dealbreaker--just slather a TON of sauce over it and go to town. But even without the sauce, the pork was just dry, almost as if all of the fat in the cut of meat was trimmed off before cooking it. But there also was no bark, which was a little befuddling because it means the pork was cooked super low and slow and should have been juicy. Perhaps they removed the bark, which is a shame because it's my favorite part. The sauce was good but not drool-worthy, the bread and buns are pathetic, and the sides aren't worth getting. Also, the price point for the meats is just too high, in my opinion. read more

This is by far the best in Utah. Most places in the state Boil there meat and then slop it with uninspired bbq sauce. This place is a gem. Perfect Burnt ends, perfect bark, motivated owner and operators, great sides, really good turkey. I am surprised it is this cheap. My only suggestion to Bam Bam is only stay open for lunch or until you run out of brisket. Less is more. But thank you, for doing right. I've been here a couple times since my first review. Sadly a couple of those times they were off their game service wise, sinking into the all too familiar pit of mediocrity that 99% of UT restaurants have when the service is turned over to teenagers with a "It's not my problem" attitude. Luckily last week they were back on their game for the most part. Brisket was as good as before but their ribs were absolutely fantastic! I mean it was one of the top 5 ribs I've ever had (check my BBQ list and you will see that is no small feat). I would come back for the ribs here anytime. In fact I ate at R&R in SLC the following day and there was no contest on the ribs, Bam Bams has to be the best ribs in UT. The last 3 times I've been here over the past year their ice machine wasn't working. I predicted they hadn't gotten around to fixing it so I didn't order a drink. Sure enough, the guy ahead of me ordered drinks and wasn't happy to find he and his kid weren't getting any ice or concern from behind the counter. I really wanted to have a good experience at Bam Bam's, but did not. As we approached the counter to order our food there was a guy standing there and he didn't even greet us -didn't really even look at us. After a few minutes we spoke up and asked if we could place our order and he still didn't even respond, just looked at us annoyed. Finally, one of the girls back there stepped up and said she would be right with us. Apparently the staff was hanging something behind the counter and that was more important than helping customers who had been waiting for 5 minutes. I ordered a couple of meats, two sides, and a drink and it was $23. I'm used to paying a lot for BBQ, so I wasn't super surprised, but after I tasted it I wasn't happy. Once we finally got our food we sat down to eat (By the way, I must admit, the restaurant itself has a great location and has a good vibe inside). I ordered some brisket and pulled pork. The meat seemed pretty cold and under seasoned. I was surprised at how non-salty the meat tasted. Also, the temperature made it a bit tougher than it should be, especially brisket. It may have been the time of day that we were there -we arrived at about 6pm and I was very surprised that some items weren't sold out yet. Most BBQ restaurants I've been to have a set amount of meat that they smoke for the day and when they're sold out, they're sold out. This method creates demand to get there early and form a line, it also ensures that only fresh meat is served everyday. I may be wrong, since I've only eaten there once, but it doesn't seem Bam Bam's subscribes to this philosophy. I ordered slaw and Mac 'n' Cheese for my sides. The slaw was pretty great. The Mac was mushy and had a liquid cheese poured on it. Not my favorite style of Mac. All in all not a great experience. I'll probably give it another try, but earlier in the day when the meat is closer to having been pulled from the smokers. Update: I gave Bam Bam's another try earlier in the day. Same experience with the brisket, except that this time when I asked for "fatty" brisket I was given slices that were 50% fat, meaning: 50% of the slices I paid for were inedible. The parts that I was able to eat were not seasoned at all. Seriously, no salt. I wonder if maybe they are leaving all of the fat on the top part of the cut of meat, instead of trimming them down a bit. Maybe that is why the seasoning is unable to penetrate down to the meat. I don't know. I'm wracking my brain as to why it's not good. To do brisket poorly should be grounds for revoking your BBQ-ing license. I will say, my dad got the turkey and it was excellent. I feel a 5 star is in order to offset some of those 3 stars in other reviews. With some of the crappy chains that litter this valley ("I want some baby back, baby back, baby back ribs) I was shocked to see a couple of reviewers only give this place 3 stars. Bam Bam's has nailed the smoked BBQ. My favorite is the chopped beef. Those that have knocked Bam Bam's for their sauce, there is the problem. The turkey, ribs, etc are so incredibly moist there is no need for sauce. The meat has flavor, spice and is great. Putting BBQ sauce on Bam Bam's meats is like dipping a Morton's steak in A-1 sauce completely unnecessary and borderline reckless. There is simply not a better BBQ in Utah. read more

Its tough to get good smoked BBQ in Utah, I'm not one of those oh I have had BBQ in the south and nothing compares to it guys. In fact some of the best I have ever had was smoked by Utah's very own Jason Bell. He wont open a restaurant and serve me daily so Bam Bam's is the next best. Brisket is good, They know how to put a good bark on it. I have only had a couple times where the meat got a little mooshy for me, I like it a little tighter but 9 out of 10 times its been quality. I stopped by very excited because of all the great reviews I had heard about Bam Bam's BBQ, and I have to say that I was let down in a mighty way. It is hard to find good bbq outside the south, and this proved to stick to that tradition. I ordered a brisket and ribs, however the brisket wasn't ready so I grabbed a sausage instead. The sausage was tiny and mediocre, the ribs were dry and chewy. What happened to sauced up, mouth watering, fall-off-the-bone ribs??? They had reheated some bagged brisket during our meal, so my brother tried some of that. REHEATED!?!?! What kind of BarBeQue bags and reheats day old bbq? I'm crying - yes the ribs and pork are that good. I made my way through three amazingly deliciously moist, tender ribs (over the sink because I couldn't wait to try the first, then because the first was so delicious I didn't want to wait to actually get out a plate) before I remembered, Oh there's still sauce in the bag. The sauce is good too, but there's a ton of flavor in the meat even without it. And the sides! Love the coleslaw and the potato salad - I can't wait to try the beans the next time I'm in. It's a little on the pricy side, but I'd rather pay a bit more and get something great than get a "great deal" and have mediocre food. read more
