This is a place that depending on your palette you will either love or dislike. I would have give it a five if there was a better variety on sides. The sides are all very vinegary in taste, and there are only three choices; potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans. They were all very ehhhh (i did not hate them or love them it was just decent). Now credit where credit is due. The meat is amazing. I ordered the brisket and pulled porke. The brisket was amazing! Very reasonably priced and so flavorful. The pulled pork was perfect when mixed with the BBQ sauce or the sauce marked S (i dont know what it's called but the S must stand for superb). Atmosphere is great, the workers are great, and it is well priced for delicious BBQ. I will be going back, but only for the meat or to try a sandwich. I will never buy the sides again. Bam Bam's is easily the best BBQ in the state of Utah. Everything about this place reminds me of Central Texas. Buy the meat by the pound and make sure to try the brisket and pulled pork. BBQ at its best! Bambams has been our favorite go to for barbecue. Locally owned from a BYU alumni, they take great care of smoking the best meats. Service is great too but usually packed with a line to the door. The interior is a fun, family atmosphere with park/picnic style bench seating and can fit large parties I recommend the Swatchos, a bbq topped nacho platter. Pick the brisket! Everything else is a good choice as well although the Cole slaw has more vinegar than I'd like. Looking through Yelp for BBQ place and found Bam Bam's bbq. Delicious bbq. I had pork sandwich which was chunks of pork. Great smoked flavor and the roll was very good. Friends had the turkey and brisket sandwich, which they loved. Three different bbq sauces to try. Cole slaw was delicious as well. Inside was nice with picnic tables. I forgot how good the food here is! It's been almost a year since I've bammed the Bam if ya' know what I mean! The mac and cheese here is bammin'. It's my second favorite mac and cheese I've ever had. The crushed goldfish crackers on top of it is the perfect texture and taste to complement the baminess of the macaroni and cheese sauce. I've never got larger than a small, and I've always left the restaurant wishing I had bought a large. Bam! That's what the chopped beef does to your mind. It doesn't boom it, it bams it. It was hot and perfectly seasoned. Their rolls are also cheap and super soft. I like to order a half pound of meat and a few rolls to make my own sandwiches. Finally, I think a lot of Utah BBQ gets caught up in offering 5-7 flavors of BBQ sauce. Usually all of them are pretty mediocre or poor. Bam Bam's does it right with 3 sauces that are all great. We have heard good things about this place, so we tried it out. It was a little hard to find (could use more outside lighting). The brisket sandwich was very fresh and soft but fatty I liked the coleslaw and BBQ beans. We didn't order the potato salad because an employee told us it has a lot of dill pickle relish which we don't like. They had a big selection of fountain drinks, meats and chips. Husband and I are Texans and grew up eating BBQ. This is the best we've found in Utah Valley so far. I wouldn't say it puts other places like 5-Star to shame because they're still pretty good, but this seemed like the winner overall. The brisket in particular was way above anything else we've found locally. I really enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich (homemade bun!!) and husband said the potato salad tasted just like the kind his grandma would make back home. Doesn't get any higher of a compliment than that. Three or four kinds of sauce, very quick service, and clean setting. My only complaint is that I wish they had more side options and dessert. I think there are only about three. But hey. Quality meat makes up for it and I guess I was too full to eat much else after the sandwich anyway. WOW do they have good meat here! Finishing a delicious meal can be a very sad feeling and I was sad when I finished all my food and had none left. I got what they called a swacho, it's a huge plate of nachos that is loaded with your choice of meat. It's a huge portion so unless your a big eater it might be a good idea to just share your order with someone, maybe like a date? The restaurant had a great vibe. Decent price for some BBQ!! I'll easily go again!! You get your food the same time you order so obviously the food is pre made. Making it naturally not at fresh as straight off the grill. But you couldn't tell the difference. You get 3 choices of sauces at each table: regular bbq, spicy bbq, sweet bbq Pulled pork was good, not dry but not juicy either, the sauce helped a lot. When you order Swachos (nachos) you get a huge to go plate full of chips. It's a huge portion for the price. Brisket Swachos were so delicious. Inside the sack we found the containers that had bbq sauce in them were all stuck together from dried crusty bbq sauce that had spilled and wasn't cleaned up, grease was all over the inside of the bags, food from what I'm assuming the workers hands on the outside of the containers was smeared everywhere. Leading me to believe the cleanliness of this place is subpar. We were missing the chips for the nachos, all of the sandwiches were wet from grease, the pulled pork was mush it was so overcooked and it was just drenched in grease. I have 2 problems with it though and why the 4 stars. Brisket is the staple of any BBQ joint. If someone tells you different they are idiots. Atleast in Texas, brisket is your bread and butter. Some people will say pork if youre from further north but no...brisket. Like I said, it is delicious. But VERY fatty. I don't like how they feel comfortable literally giving a huge piece of fat to you and making you pay for it. Yes, real BBQ brisket will have some fat, but not like how I have gotten here. Huge nasty slabs of unedible fat. The ribs are all mostly all bone. I hate that you pay for more bones and fat at Bam Bams then you do for meat. Not to mention that they are NAZIS with the scale. You will not a single fraction over what you pay for. Problem #2 is price. Any place that has you paying $20 or more a pound for brisket and fat would be considered over priced in my book. $20 is what you pay for a trimmed brikset. I mean it used to be affordable here. It has gotten substantially more expensive as time has gone on. If they sold more trimmed pieces of meat I'd say the $20 is well worth it. Most BBQ places sell a pound between $18-$22. Bam is simply matching competition. But ive been to a massive amount of BBQ places and BamBams by far serves the worst meat to fat ratio. So basically you're paying a premium for bones, fat and some meat. But is it wonderfully delicious bones and fat? Oh yes it is. Yes it is indeed. read more
