I have used Bama Exterminating-- a local business in Northport, AL-- for years. Yesterday was an especially good experience when their employee Cameron McKinstry came to do a yearly inspection for the termite bond. He was friendly, professional, thorough, and respectful. He took many pictures under the house to show me exactly what he was talking about. I really appreciate his clear communication and calm, polite manner. I cannot say enough good things about this company and their compassion for their clients. Jake and Montana did an excellent job taking care of my problem. The guys that actually treated my home did a great job as well. They were kind enough to offer to place items back that had to be moved. That's not their job but it was nice for them to offer. I would recommend them over any other company in town. On another level, they reached out to me and my family to show their support for something that we have been going through with my sons health. As the card reads "Sometimes things seem to be easier when you know that people care", indeed it does. I thank you Jake and Montana and all that sent prayers and positive thoughts. I had Bama Exterminating for a few years until I ran into some problems with them being sloppy. I primarily live out of the state of Alabama, but used Bama for my second home in AL. I specifically asked them from the beginning to put my primary home address (located out-of-state) as the billing contact. For years, they would conduct the service and simply send the bill to my primary address out of state. I always immediately paid for their services via credit card, usually over the phone, which they preferred. They would mail me the credit card receipt. Well, for my annual ant and terminate inspections this year, I just happened to call them to set up things, and they said, "we closed your account because of failure to make a payment." I asked what the billing address on file was...didn't get a straight answer although I would imagine that answer is immediately available. Two days later, I call back to follow up, and the phone representative admitted to the possibility that Bama may have sent it to the AL home where the service was being performed. Also not true, because my mom lives there and sends me all bills that come to the house. The phone rep even had the nerve to say "we were sending the account to collections." I never even knew there was a bill due! And they obviously make no attempts on their end to keep in touch with the customer. That was issue No. 1. Nonetheless, I immediately paid the outstanding balance and that issue was resolved, despite Bama's sloppiness and failure to communicate. I am happy to pay whatever I owe (although I have no idea what the outstanding balance was for, since Bama had not been to my home for any inspections in over a year). Issue No 2., they have an absolutely unconscionable provision in their agreement that says something to the effect of, "Customer must give 30 days written notice before getting out the the Agreement." The very next sentence in the Agreement says, "Bama may cancel the contact without notice at any time for any reason." What?! Besides the fact that such a provision would never hold up in court if there ever were a dispute, it is a completely onerous clause. They're not selling gold, they are spraying chemicals on the ground, for goodness sake. No need for such an unfair clause. I asked the representative for a reason for such an unfair clause. She responded something to the effect of, "we need that in there for customers who don't pay." What???? Well, in my opinion, such language is waaaay over broad for such a limited scenario as nonpayment. Anyway, I refused to agree to it, Bama Exterminating refused to change or delete it, and we parted ways. I signed up the same day with their competitor, who actually ended up being cheaper...and more organized company as well. I have been happy so far. There is a fine line between a mom and pop operation and a sloppy operation. On this basis, I would not recommend Bama. Overpriced compared to their competitors and sloppy, outdated non-communicative billing practices. read more

David Northington is third generation owner of Bama Exterminating. He has worked at Bama since high school, and has always loved learning and growing in the pest control industry. When I tried to catch back up, the people I spoke with were polite and respectful, and I appreciate that. That said, I completely lost trust after what happened next. The company told me the bait stations had been removed because of nonpayment and that I'd have to pay the entire year upfront plus a $200-$300 "installation" fee to have them replaced. But after that conversation, I personally found around 18 bait stations still in the ground--untouched. They clearly hadn't been removed. That made me question whether they'd ever installed their own stations at all, or if they'd simply been using another company's equipment and never bothered to replace or maintain them. It honestly felt like they were charging for work that wasn't being done. Luckily for me, I can still check the bait stations myself, which is how I discovered the truth. After that, I started researching termite bait systems more deeply--and I'm actually glad things ended the way they did. From everything I've learned, bait stations seem like a slow, expensive, and unreliable system that mostly benefits the pest control company through recurring fees. Many experts and even people in the pest industry admit these stations don't attract termites, take months (or longer) to work, and often fail to eliminate colonies entirely. Bottom line: I'll take responsibility for missing payments, and I'll even say the employees were courteous--but when I'm told something that's verifiably false, the trust is gone. After doing my research, I now see it might have been a blessing in disguise not to keep paying for a system that appears designed more for profit than for true protection.

For the past few years I have had problems with ants coming in our bathroom and pantry. I called several agencies in town and was met with apathy about my problem. I was consistently told it would be at least a week before anyone could come to my home. I called Bama Exterminating and the young woman who answered the phone was so helpful and truly seemed to CARE about my problem. After explaining the severity of my problem, she asked me if someone could come to my home that afternoon! She told me she would send me a picture of the young man who would be coming to my home. The price I was quoted was VERY reasonable, and less than the other companies I had previously called. They came that afternoon at the exact time I was told, and the young man was so professional, personable and knowledgeable. He took a great deal of time explaining what he was doing, why he was doing it and things I could do to decrease the ant problem. I asked about a monthly service for pest control, and he was able to answer all of my questions on the spot! (it was obvious this company takes great pride in their training program)! I signed up for the monthly service and as of this writing I can say Bama Exterminating is, by far, the best company in the Tuscaloosa area. I would reccomend their services to anyone!! read more

I used Bama Exterminating for their services to help me with a little mouse problem I had. After months of trying to get this mouse and it's little friend, they were finally able to help me. Cassandra was so helpful in letting me know the exact services they provided as well as a very detailed explanation as to what the process was to get rid of the problem. She understood my frustration and was very helpful in reassuring me that they would definitely take care of the issue. Unfortunately the damage had already been done from these horrible mice and my doorbell no longer works from the wires they were able to chew through but Bama Exterminating were very quick in finding the little culprits and finally getting rid of them. Thank you so much Cassie for taking the time to answer all of my questions and being so patient with me and my concerns. I am not a customer of Bama but ran into one of your guys at the gas station by Winn dixie on 69 south. I believe he said his name was Troy mid aged gentleman with a beard. I was coming out of the store and dropped everything I had been carrying including my wallet, he graciously helped me pick it up and was so very polite. It's not often now days you run into kind selfless people. He definitely stood out as good character. Way to go Bama hiring upstanding employees !!! We have used Bama Exterminating for over 27 years, at every home we have owned, for both our termite bond and also have them doing routine pest control visits. We are always extremely satisfied with their service. We recently had our annual termite inspection, the technician, Troy, arrived on time (he actually called to see if it was ok that he came a few minutes early, which I appreciated!) The technicians at Bama Exterminating did a thorough home inspection at no charge, then educated us on the pest control options available to us. After trying numerous do-it-yourself bed bug removal treatments and professional chemical treatments by other extermination companies that didn't work, we ended up calling them and using their new Heat Treatment system to get rid of bed bugs in our vacation condo. We haven't seen a bed bug since and wish we would have called them first! Highly recommend using Call Bama. read more

IF I have a proBLem they deal with it quickly and completely until I am happy. I would recommend this company to everyone!
