I was VERY skeptical going through these reviews. Majority of these are 4-5 stars, so the first thing I'm thinking is these must be CNN fake news. I live in Alhambra so I'm SURROUNDED by eastern therapy. It's competitive around my area so when I saw these high rated reviews, I decided to venture out here to test it out. Turns out this place is legit. I came for treatment by Dr. Yang. She was very thorough from the beginning, she broke down how our bodies are like the L.A. freeways, when it's congested our bodies are just slow and painful. Her treatment approach ATTACKS all the congested areas, and really just opens up the flow and seems to get everything running smooth again. She'd start off with a strategic massage, not therapeutic, to loosen up the area of where she places the needles, she explained this approach would let the needle point areas open up more freely. How Dr. Yang's approach stands out from all the other acupuncture centers is she attaches electrodes to the needles so you get electro therapy directly to the needle points! It feels 10X more effective and you end up saving money because this way, you don't need to go back for treatment as much. I also added the cupping therapy, this was a first for me, VERY painful in my opinion, and I will update with the effects later. All in all, Dr. Yang deserves these 5 stars, and I'm trying to convince her to open an office in the Alhambra area. Wonderful Results! That is the least I can say about my experience with DR. YANG! I started treatment for Bell's Palsy (facial paralysis) 5 days after my face dropped. I have been attending one's per week and at 2 sessions (2 weeks) my Kaiser doctor said that I was recovering twice as fast and ask me what exactly was I doing? I've been having severe low back pain and sciatica pain for 2 years, tried chiropractic, physical therapy, yoga...nothing could really take it away. So I decided to try acupuncture. The treatment here was super relaxing, Dr.Yang did a massage first to help me loose my muscles relax my mind, and then she put needles in that I can barely feel. She told me that it could take a couple days to tell difference, but my pain went down 60-70% right after the session!! My husband and I have been going to Dr. Lu for years. I will say, before I tried acupuncture with Dr. Lu, I have always had back pain due to a curve in my spine (and stress). I had physical therapy when I was young as directed by my doctor but it never seemed to help. I just grew accustomed to my pain. The first time I went to Dr. Lu, I was pleased to learn that she is a medical doctor and she did a very thorough health history. She did a brief massage than did the acupuncture based on what problem areas we dicussed during the consulation. When I left that office, no joke, this was the first time I could ever remember having no back pain. The pain slowly came back over the course of a month or so...so in my case I needed regular scheduled treatments. My husband went to her after I told him about my results. We have Kaiser and they were just about to schedule him for knee surgery. After his treatment, he canceled the surgery. His pain was gone. Well that was several years ago and with regular treatments; his knees are still feeling great! Its not just the acupuncture itself. Dr. Lu was away in China for a couple months and I wanted to come in. I did not want to wait so I went to another acupuncturist in Valencia. With that guy, it was overpriced, he sold me on treatments I need not need, and I still walked out in pain. So they are not all created equal! Learned the hard way. next time I will wait for Dr. Lu! I have been going to Dr. Lu for four years. I love the entire experience each time. She has a very friendly staff that has never changed. The 30-minute meridian massage that being the appointment is simply amazing and prepares your body for the actual acupuncture. After the massage, Dr. Lu discusses the reason for your visit and offers up advice if needed...she then begins the needles and it is always painless. After about 20-30 minutes the needles are quickly removed and you are left feeling completely relaxed. Sometimes I have to just sit for a while before I can even drive! Every time I have had pain in my shoulder (from grading and grading essay after essay!) she is able to help take the pain away--completely. She has provided insight on many of my ailments. I have referred many people and everyone simply loves this place! Dr. Lu takes insurance and if you do not have insurance she will work with you on a plan. I was sorry to see Dr. Lu retire but thought I'd give Dr. Yang a chance at getting some relief for my back. Not only didn't I get an relief, they were going to bill my health insurance $430 for an $80 treatment. That is over 5 times the going rate which is OUTRAGEOUS! Do you ever wonder why insurance is so costly?!? Medicare is my primary insurance and was not told until my secondary insurance declined the claim that Medicare will not pick this up. What would have happened if I had Medicare only, on a fixed income and got stuck with this bill? Needless to say, I won't be going back with this type of business practice. read more

For the last 5 months, I've been dealing with pain in my knee which was gradually getting worse. My doctor ordered ultrasounds and x-rays, and sent me to see a orthopedic surgeon. This doctor said that he couldn't see anything out of the norm, but guessed I had a torn meniscus. After receiving a cortisone shot in the knee and paying almost $1,500, my pain still persisted. I finally decided to see Dr. Yang, who spent 2 hours with me. I received a meridian massage, acupuncture, including a TENS machine treatment, and cupping. Immediately after the treatment, my knee pain was considerably less. It has now been 3 days and I'm so happy to say that my knee pain is completely GONE! I had really high expectations and hope going into my experience here. Sadly, I was very disappointed. First of all, their appointment hours are totally ridiculous and unrealistic for working individuals. To make matters worse, they will only allow you in at certain times if you're a new patient. I actually took time out of my workday to go to my appointment, which I notified them of when I made the appointment. I arrived a few minutes early for the paperwork as they had requested. But I proceeded to wait 55 minutes for my appointment. That's right, they were ALMOST A WHOLE HOUR LATE. The receptionist was super sweet and friendly, but seemed totally scattered and never even apologized for the delay. I met the doctor and really liked her. And she gave a pretty good massage, so I was thinking she was worth the wait at this point. Well, she proceeded to stick me with needles from my face down to my feet. Some of the ones in my stomach and forehead hurt a lot more than the others. They continued to hurt and burn after she left the room, then continued to get worse until she came back in a while later. During this time I was supposed to clear my mind and relax. Kinda hard to do when you feel like you have burning needles in you. She explained to me those hurt so much because they didn't stay in. And she also told me the one in my forehead was bleeding. I'm willing to bet not having needles stuck in properly would keep you from benefiting from the treatment. And the migraine I walked out of there with that continued to get worse through the next morning reassured me of that. The migraine that had started from the incredible tension I had coming from my forehead where that bloody and painful needle came out of. Needless to say, I unfortunately won't be back. read more

I have only tried acupuncture once before and it was effective, so for chronic pain and muscle spasms, when the doctor gave me pain killers, muscle relaxers and exercises, I thought it was time to try it again. When I left after my first treatment, she said if you don't feel 80% better in 3-5 days, I might need another treatment. I felt 80% better when I walked out the door right after the treatment. The massage is amazing. It feels like I'm pampering myself. My symptoms subsided. I did go back for another treatment that offered further relief. Naturally doing more than any pill for sure! WOW!! Dr. Lu is amazing and has saved my life!! I was in severe chronic daily pain due to migraines, neck, shoulder and upper back pain for 12 years. I have tried physical therapy, chiropractic care, deep tissue massage, Botox injections, epidurals and numerous prescription medication. Nothing worked!! I was miserable. Until I found Dr Lu. I go a few times a week for maintenance. I get a full body complementary massage with each visit done by a massage therapist. I then get cupping followed by needles.
