I want to preface that I know the food we ordered is American Chinese, but this is a pretty standard order we get at local places when you just have that American Chinese craving. Secondly, this was delivered; however, the food came hot and I don't think delivery time was a factor in the poor quality. Let me run down the food that we did order and some of my issues. I ordered the General Tso's with pork fried rice. When ordering they asked for the spice level that I wanted. I said medium because I like some heat and I know some places hot is more spice than food. When I got the dish the food was not spicy in the least, which is fine, really. The rice was not fried but somehow yellow. There were small bits of pork in the rice that were somehow cut into 1cm squares. The rice was more like steamed yellow rice. The chicken itself was both mushy (the tempura coating) and dry (the actual chicken). The Crab Rangoon's were bigger than other places so I assumed homemade rather than frozen. These might have been good if left to fry longer. Either the kitchen was in a rush, or the drier temperature needs to be turned up. Either way, based on the General Tso's and Crab Rangoons, Bamboo needs to have quality control expectations. Lastly, my wife ordered the Chicken & Broccoli with brown sauce. If I was basing this review off this dish it would be a flat 1 star. This dish legitimately tasted like wet dog food and was inedible. Needless to say, I would make Chinese at home before we ordered from Bamboo again. read more

I recently ordered from Bamboo Garden for the first time, and will NEVER order again! The egg roll tasted like it was 5 days old! The two flavors of chicken that we ordered were totally dry and tastes like they were under a heat lamp for a month!! Awful! read more

They serve up a good Chinese menu including Cantonese, Hunan and Szechuan special dishes, most under $10. 46 Lunch Specials ($5.15) served with white rice or pork fried rice are offered Mon-Sat before 3PM. 31 Special Combinations ($7.10-$7.85) served with white rice or pork fried rice and egg roll are also offered. No MSG. The place is casual which is order at the counter with open kitchen and there are a few tables for eating in. I stopped in here recently for dinner takeout and ordered the C4 Shrimp Lo Mein with Pork Fried Rice & Egg Roll. The food was ready to go in under 10 minutes. Served in a rectangle microwave container, portion of hot food was generous, packed in real good! The lo mein had tender shrimp (some of them were not deveined), fresh carrots, cabbage, onions tossed in firm noodles, good flavor. The pork fried rice (yellow color) was cooked just right with tender pieces of roast pork & onions. The egg roll was deep fried crispy on the outside filled with cabbage & ground pork. The food tasted pretty good and I had enough food leftover for lunch the next day! read more

Finally, the village of Altamont has it's own Chinese restaurant! We've been waiting for years. Thankfully, it's yummy. Great veggies, nice flavors, pleasant staff. So far, we've tried the twice cooked pork, lo mein, egg foo, Kung Pao, Hunan, Szechuan, garlic and mu shu dishes (usually chicken, sometimes pork). Liked them all. Note: We like things a bit spicy, and they do a great job spicing things up. read more

We were quite disappointed with the food. We ordered General Tso's chicken but we got the combo meal when we wanted just the chicken. The alleged Fried Rice looked more like boiled rice with yellow food coloring. The egg roll dough was thick and heavy instead of light and crispy. We also ordered broccoli and beef and the consistency of the beef was highly suspect and unappetizing. We live nearby, but would not go back. read more

We orders dinners for six and I was very disappointed with my beef with broccoli. I ordered it szeschuan style with pork fried rice. The beef was purely fat and almost unidentifiable as meat at all. The flavor was flat, as if it was unseasoned. The pork fried rice was stale with a faint flavor of being in a box for too long, and it had maybe four small cubes of pork a few onions. All the rest of our order was good, thankfully my family shared their meals with me. read more

Solid Chinese take out! It's great to have them in the village. Place a phone order and within 30 minutes you are back home and already eating! Again, this is typical take-out fare. Nothing special, just solid with fast service. read more

I love this place!! The workers are so nice and you can tell its family owned and wonderful. The food is cheap and delicious. You always have leftovers when you have the meals. I usually have sesame chicken and pork fried rice or sweet and sour chicken and pork fried rice. I also like the egg rolls and lo mien. You get free soup or eggs rolls after you spend about 20-30 dollars. read more

This is my go-to chinese take out. As a creature of habit, I rarely deviate from my veggie lo mein, veggie fried rice, and egg roll, and I can assure you those items, in particular, are delicious. I haven't tried much else, but if you're looking for quick "10 minute" chinese food, look no further, you've found a gem. read more

I agree with Robin L. We bought several dishes for a family of 7. The fried rice tasted like plain rice, no flavor. We also had the beef & broccoli with the same thought. The beef was very suspect. I know it's a joke about dog being slipped in for meat but it did not taste like beef. Not a good feeling. Most of us didn't talk about it (elephant in the room) but it was pretty obvious as not much was eaten. Sweet & sour pork was heavily coated. Large pieces but when I took the pork out the pieces were about 1/4 inch square, almost all coating. Moo goo guy pan was best choice even though I don't even like it (very bland) but put some soy sauce on it and was decent. The prices were higher than others in the Albany area and food was definitely substandard. We will not go there again. I do have o say that we ate there a few times when it first opened and it was good but things change. I don't know, maybe they think because there is no other Chinese restaurant in the area you have no choice unless you want to drive 7-8 miles. read more
