Food has always been good ..just some days it gets crazy n the kitchen slows down,so theirs a bit of a wait..

I know Bamboo has had a rough past. Some of the 1-star reviews here are completely justified. I've had some 1-star experiences myself. That being said, I've heard they have switched owners a few times within the last few years. A couple of years ago, I got beef and broccoli and 80% of the broccoli was the giant stalk cut into 1.5"x1.5" squares that were super bitter. Even now, I wouldn't eat inside the restaurant as it leaves a lot to be desired. I'd treat this as a takeout only joint and that's what they mainly do. I gave Bamboo another try the other night as they were all that was open, and I order takeout and it was delicious. The beef and broccoli was very savoury (with no stalk, just florets), the chicken fried rice was delicious and had tons of chicken, the cheese wontons were nice and crispy and had lots of flavour, and the sweet and sour sauce was delicious and sweet without being bright red and seeming "fake". So, if you have had negative experiences at Bamboo, I encourage you to give them another try. read more

I ordered the infamous Combo C yesterday and it was absolutely terrible. Such poor quality from the new owners. The rice was hard, the chicken balls were like eating coated rubber balls--it was just awful. The place has still not been updated. On top of this, they managed to raise the prices! read more

Worst 120 bucks I ever spent.. Thr chicken wings were bone dry and very crispy. The breaded shrimp was battered shrimp and mostly batter. The chicken balls were dry and a little hard.. The rice was good. I will not be returning. read more

Time had not been kind to the Bamboo house. Once in a part of town that was in the centre of the hustle and bustle it's surrounded by empty fields where factories used to be. The dining room is dated and faded, like the tribune certificate for favourite Asian restaurant from the 80's and 90's. we got our food to go, we sat at the counter having a Coke and a Pepsi. They do a steady take out business. Say what you will about the neighbourhood, the service is excellent, and so is the food. read more

Had order delivered , food was ok but they forgot an item. So I called them to let them know and said they could drop it off or credit my credit card. They told me I was lying and refused to do anything and hung up on me. We've been regular customers for 6 years, but never again. read more

Maybe it was just what I ordered. Maybe it was the time I ate there. Whatever - if this is 'the best Chinese restaurant in Welland', I'd hate to see the worst. My spring rolls were minuscule and more roll than spring and my sweet and sour pork consisted of over-breaded chunks of pork done in a style reminiscent of those chicken balls that pass for Chinese food in North America. The sauce itself was a sickly pale gloop. The restaurant itself is in dire need of updating. Repairs to upholstery have been carried out with insulating tape which is evident on just about every seat and a sorry looking bar gives the image of an old diner more than Chinese eatery. I used to go to this Chinese restaurant with my family as a kid. I live 4 hours away and my family LOVE Bamboo and get it whenever we're in town. Menu has expanded to include pad Thai which is phenomenal. Cantonese Chow Mein, spring rolls or Beef with mushrooms are another favourite of ours. Don't make your mind up based on the decor (hasn't changed much since I was a kid and I'm 49 now) you'll be pleasantly surprised by the food. You can't beat Bamboo! read more

We have been getting take out from the Bamboo for over 20yrs. Always good food and service. They have never gotten an order wrong even though we ask for no sauce for the (always delicious) lemon chicken, the Moo Koo Guy Ping is always loaded with chicken and mushrooms and although the chicken fried rice is free with an order over $30.00 they don't skimp on the amount or most importantly the taste. They are always polite over the phone and their delivery drivers are on time and professional. read more

It makes me sad to have to give such a low rating on a restaurant that I've been visiting my whole life. This place used to be the absolute best. It's had it's share of new owners and cooks but it seems as over the years the quality has just downgraded more and more. A favourite dish of mine and my mothers was the "Cantonese chow mein" and it's definitely not how it used to be. One time they ran out of the traditional noodles and made it with spaghetti... I haven't ate there in a while but today I was around the area and decided to give it a shot for old times sake. Unfortunately I was yet again disappointed. The food was served quickly, although I can tell it was pre-cooked and just warmed up. It was also a little uncomfortable as it seemed like there was tension between the waitresses and the owners. While I was paying for my order I was basically ignored as the owners just spoke to each other in their language, kind of bickering I guess and then the lady proceeded to throw my receipt at the counter and left right after without a thank you or even looking at me. Love this place. Best Chinese food I've had anywhere. Good service and good food. I no longer live in Welland and cannot find anything as good anywhere else. Long live the Bamboo. read more
