What's not to love about wind? The setting of this location compared to others is smaller and more intimate. The all you can eat experience is wonderful! There's so many different options from sushi, to curry, to wok cooking, noodles, rice, soups, salads, desserts and so much more! They also are always changing the menu and adding various specials frequently. Even those who don't like fish or those who have other dietary restrictions will find plenty to enjoy here. All the food is prepared with care and tastes great. Standouts for my group were the beef and mushroom bowl, sashimi, peanut curry and calamari. The creme brûlée was also really good for dessert. When we first saw the menu we were excited by the wide variety of dishes. I normally love soft shell crab rolls, but here it was covered in so much mayonnaise it ruined it for me. I really liked the unagi rolls, they were much more generous with the BBQ eel than most other places I've visited where you have to squint to find the eel in your roll. I thought the cashew chicken was excellent and full of flavour. The Thai curry mussels were also great so we even ordered it twice. The calamari was disappointing because it was so heavily breaded that it was hardly recognizable. We were excited to get the beef short ribs, but after more than half an hour without receiving them I asked the waitress and it had been delivered to another table. They made it again for us, but then it was overcooked and didn't feel worth the long wait. By the end of the meal we were too full to have much dessert so we just ordered the fruit combo. I wasn't expecting it to look as nice as the picture, but I would have at least liked to get a strawberry. I'm not sure why they felt the need to take elaborate pictures that look nothing like the final product. When I tried to pay the machine froze after I tapped my credit card so were stuck for another 10 minutes when we were already exhausted from eating so much. Overall our trip was a bit frustrating and the food wasn't as great as we hoped so we wouldn't go back, but it was nice getting to try some of the more unique dishes on their menu. read more

There was also premade mouse and tiramisu. The service was good, the washroom was clean. This was our first time going to Wind at this location. Reservations were easy to make. Upon arrival, we drove around for a bit, not understanding if there was parking. It seemed everything was either for other private businesses or the library. We were told by another person that after six p.m., we were allowed to use the library parking lot. Obviously, the restaurant says "Wind" largely at the very front, but since we walked up to the restaurant from the back, there was no visible signage (not even around the door). We saw Chinese characters and hoped for the best. That detail seems like one of those small things you never notice until it's not there. When we entered, the hostess seemed readily expecting us. Our waitress came and took our drink orders, set up the tablet, and asked us about allergies. She came back promptly, but my daughter never received her water. I didn't push it, because she doesn't drink much during dinner, and my wife shared hers. One less plastic cup. The food started coming. Everything was pretty good. The sashimi was great. The kids at the table seemed to really enjoy the dumplings. My three-year-old was in love with the squid "lollipop!" The eel was very good. The menu deviates from the Lundy Lane location. Alas, we thought it would be mostly the same. I feel this location has a lot more fried options. However, my wife was sad that there was no pumpkin tempura. The short ribs and beef teriyaki were delicious. Sushi was fine. Everything came out timely. This is among some of the best sushi I've ever had. If you're from the area and you love sushi then you already know this place and you definitely love it already. Staff is always really kind and helpful and food is always delicious. Very quick to bring out the food and always quick to fill up your water. iPads are an all you can eat NECESSITY. My significant other and I arrived for our reservation and were promptly seated. The atmosphere is warm and well balanced. Our hostess gave us instructions on how to use the ordering tablet. As the hostess left the table our waitress arrived and kindly asked if we would like drinks. We ordered a beer and a glass of wine. The beginning to our evening was a bit chaotic, not having ordered yet, many servers dropped off plates (then immediately took them back and to their rightful table). This happened 2-3 times before we had actually ordered anything. When we did order, our first dish never arrived (edamame). However, our first round of sashimi and fried dumplings arrived to the table and from that point forward, things were much better. We tried a bit of everything, and can say the food was fresh and very good. Does not blow you away, but we wouldn't turn anything back either. The salmon nigiri is delicate and sweet. The various rolls we tried were well portioned and worth every bite. Beef teriyaki and fried dumplings are hearty. The desserts are as expected, a bit held back, yet we don't go to an AYCE sushi restaurant for the desserts. The presentations could use a bit of creativity (other tables seemed to haveone elaborate plating, but that's not very important in my mind). In all, a great experience. Wind is my favourite sushi place to order from - specifically for Pacific Roll. While they don't have the Pacific Roll on the takeout menu, they will make it for you at an increased cost of $6 per order (each order has 4 pieces). This is definitely overpriced but what can I say? I'm addicted! When I cave and go to the restaurant for All You Can Eat, the first order I place is for 3 Pacific Roll (pretty much the same $30 value as the AYCE price). I do not like their yam tempura because they cut them like french fries rather than slicing them like every other Asian restaurant. Personally I love this place, and not just because it is conveniently located in DT core of St. Catharines. The interior is very modern looking and clean. Even the platters they serve the sushi on are super nice. The staff is quite attentive and friendly and they take all your orders using iPads. So bonus points for going green and not wasting paper. The sushi itself is delicious, I love the fact that they have multiple rolls with philly cream cheese. I also recommend their mango rolls. . mmmmhhmmmm my mouth is salivating a little just thinking about them. Their seaweed salad is also great. The prices are fair, no surprises. We went to Wind today on a recommendation from a friend who said the food was great although I was a bit hesitant because of poor reviews on here. We arrived at 12:00 exactly and were promptly seated, no lines yet but from my seat I could see the entrance and saw that the waiting started a few minutes after we sat down. This is a new place and it looks great. We were seated in a large booth that could seat six so there was plenty of elbow room. There are tables and raised counters as well. The place has a great look. The style is all you can eat with a very long selection of rolls, one piece sushi and items from the kitchen. There is no sashimi for lunch as well as a limited selection in the rest of the menu. But at $10 cheaper for lunch compared to dinner it's understandable. The orders are taken by a server and the food brought out by runners. So that meant only one person is taking all the orders from every table. (On our side of the restaurant anyway) and that made the ordering process a little slow. Once the orders went in the food came out in a timely manner. I've yet to go to and all you can eat sushi place where they don't forget one or two items you ordered. This time they failed to bring us steamed First round was miso soup, seaweed salad and Thai salad. All good and fresh. Then we ordered Rocky shrimp, grilled baby octopus and pan fried Sea Bass. All three dishes were excellent. We ordered more of each later. Then it was the usual suspects. Rolls, chicken and beef dishes as well as vegetables. Only the pork won-tons were really disappointing and the spicy chicken wing was to sour according to my wife. The rest was from good to excellent. Being a Torontonian and constantly spoiled by new AYCE Japanese resturant in the Markham/Richmond area, my bar was set high. However Wind didn't disappoint and even exceeded my expectation! I went on a Saturday evening (Boxing Day) and although most of St. Catharines seem like a deserted city, it was packed inside Wind. The service was friendly and quick. Not one missed or forgotten order. And I don't recall a server asking "how is everything?" in a Markham, Richmond or Toronto AYCE Japanese establishment, but here I was asked several times throughout my stay. Now the selection of food available on their AYCE menu isn't something to write home about (same as everywhere). They make it up with great service, speed and consistency. Apart from their Japanese offering, I highly recommend trying the red-curry mussel and beef short-rib (ordered at least a few times)! I didn't exactly enjoy their beef teriyaki (steak cubes) on sizzling hot plate, but it's something I don't see often at other AYCE. It's only 15min from the Outlet Collection at Niagara. $28.99 on weekends, cheaper on weekdays. Limited free parking (park in non-reserved spaces or risk a tow). Ok, now we have been going to Wind Sushi ever since they opened oh so many years ago. This location, in St Catherine's was closed for reno's for 5 months. Now, this was our first time in the newly opened Wind. Nice new decor, and a few new things on the menu. Now, We have always loved their Big Hand Roll that has salmon, avacodo and bbq smoked eel. Not any more. They are now no longer taking off the skin and remaining fat off the eel. Totally gross now! At no point with anything the eel is in is now edible. Stringy, chewy(but not on a good way) and a really slimy mouth feel. I guess if you can stay away from the eel it's ok but until they start treating the eel like the fish it is I don't see us going back Really disappointed. read more

I have been to Wind at both locations and I honestly can't tell the difference between them. We've been seated within 20 minutes for both without a reservation for a group of four for dinner. Although I love sushi, the rest of my family are much bigger sushi snobs than me and they are crazy about this place. The restaurant is large and has seating suitable for large groups. After being seated, you're giving an iPad with an app to place orders. The menu is incredibly large and ranges from sashimi and sushimi to things like egg rolls, thai food, teriyaki, and desserts. After placing an order, the waiter approves the order and it comes out in around ten minutes. With AYCE, you can place as many orders as you want. Even though my brother orders a ton of food, they rarely forget anything though in peak hours it may take a while to reach the table. Between the two times I've been here, I've tried a good amount of their menu. Their sushi is always so delicious and I especially enjoyed the squid. Another worth-mentioning item is their beef teriyaki skewers. The only thing I was not a fan of was the octopus skewer, which did not taste fresh. The second great thing about Wind is that their presentation is so beautiful. Whenever we order a variety of items, it comes out on the plate looking well put together. They arrange the thick-cut salmon pieces into a lotus flower and decorate the plate with carrots and leafy greens. The only two downfalls are that they do use a lot of plates for the food. Sometimes they'll bring out a plate that has one tiny item on it. The other thing is that many of their pieces are required to come with rice, such as the squid sashimi. My brother asked if they could leave the rice out since he won't eat it, but they said no. Lastly, I've always enjoyed their desserts. If you think about it, and since they are an AYCE restaurant, where prices SHOULD be reasonable to begin with, their prices SHOULD be reasonable. And they were, UNTIL NOW. When the OWNERS got real greedy. They saw the "pandemic" window of opportunity. People aren't dining AYCE for $17-$20 (the prices for their AYCE aren't even available on their website) so they decided to INCREASE their prices considerably. Wind Restaurant in St Catharines whom I patroned several times during 2020 though take-out, made lots of money that way, had the nerve to increase their prices 45% at minimum, for take-out, at least, once inside dining opened. I have been going to Wind for a few years now and it has always been my favourite all you can eat sushi place in Niagara area. The St. Catharines location closed down for quite a few months for renovations. My boyfriend and I went back for our anniversary to the St. Catharines location and were quite disappointed with the food we got. We both have our go-to's and a few tasted the exact same, but the rolls were not good at all!! I will still go back to the Niagara Falls location as I have had no issues there. Having lived in a city with many AYCE sushi restaurants previouslyI had some pretty high standards going in. I was very pleasantly surprised. One thing that I absolutely love about this place is that they have sashimi on their AYCE menu!!! I was in heaven. We had pretty much everything that you can order from the sashimi options. All of it was delicious, my favorite being the salmon, and white tuna. All of the fish was of great quality, and came as a beautiful presentation. The other thing that I like about this restaurant is that there is a wide variety of items on their AYCE menu. I was actually overwhelmed as I flipped through all of the options. When you arrive they give you an iPad that has pictures and names of all the menu items. Everything ranging from sashimi to various curries, and appetizers, soups and salads. Throughout your meal you can continue to select the number of each item that you want. The server then comes over to finalize your order and it gets sent to the kitchen electronically. So I'm American and when I heard "It's all you can eat all the time" I figured it'll be meh sushi... boy I was WRONG! This place is awesome! Was it the best sushi I've ever had in my life, NO, was it the best sushi for all you can eat, YES! The service was excellent, Jay always had his iPad out taking orders and was always there to make sure we were ready for the next round. His recommendations were great and we just kept the food coming. The service was extremely quick, before I knew it, our next round was already starting to come out! It was nonstop. Just a heads up, make sure you read the menu and notice what says "1pc" vs the "6pc" that can mess you up sometimes because I would order what I thought was a roll (6pc) and only 1pc would come out. I'm still shocked this place has such good reviews. I keep wondering if this is what sushi in Canada is like or if this place just misses the mark? We had a group of 9 for dinner on a Saturday at 8 PM, and we called around 5 PM to make a reservation and were easily added in. We were seated right at 8 PM and the server explained how the AYCE would work. We didn't think it was a good value for us to do, so we just ordered 15 rolls (some were duplicates) and edamame and crab rangoons to start. Picking the rolls was pretty difficult because you start to see that all of them have the same fish - salmon and crab. There's a few rolls listed with tuna, eel, shrimp, etc. but not very many. The first rolls that came out were all the special rolls, which were all decent with a few being pretty good (the crunchy dragon roll and the mango tango). However the second set of rolls were the standard rolls like spicy tuna, spicy shrimp, etc. Some were ok but one was really terrible causing both my mom and I to spit it out, and I have never done that in my life with sushi. As I got the last round of sushi, I realized that we never had a spicy tuna. Either we didn't get it or they are calling it tuna when it's not. Also, the rainbow roll only had salmon on top, not additional kinds of fish, so I'm almost convinced they don't actually have tuna. I gave two stars because a few of the rolls were tasty, but I would not order anything other than a few of the special rolls. We also had really great service from the two different women waiting on us. They were attentive and helpful, and they even gave us all a free scoop of ice cream each. If you're only looking for helpful service, a sleek and modern ambiance, and at best decent sushi and pretty good apps, this is your place. But if there are other sushi restaurants serving much more fresh fish, skip Wind and check them out. read more

Wind is a great option for AYCE sushi (and/or thai food). They have a very extensive list of items and even my vegan friends found many items they could eat. The service was mediocre with the server messing up our orders and forgetting items but it was tolerable overall. It is also a great place to go with a group because you can order a lot of items and try different things. They also take reservations which is nice. I like the variety of items and the specialty rolls that are offered. The rolls with mango and salmon in them are amazing and I would come back for those alone. The sashimi was sub-par. You could tell them hadn't had the fish out of the freezer for very long. The beef tataki was terrible. It was still frozen when it came out, served on ice. The ice cream was delicious but standard but one thing that stood out was that they had deep-fried mars bars. Yum! The interior is very nice and modern-looking. As for the limited decent sushi places in St. Catharines, this is one of the better ones. It is quite expensive though after tax and tip but I guess you pay for variety. read more

If you are ever in St. Catharine Ontario and you are downtown, find this place. It's all you can eat made to order sushi with thai and fusion menu items. And somehow it is only fifteen dollars at lunch time and about eight more for dinner. Made to order all you can eat. The sushi doesn't just sit around being poked at and stared at. It comes nicely prepared for you with attentive service with a very long menu to choose from. I've only been here for lunch but came late enough to see what dinner service looked like. The portions for dinner, looked extravagant and amazing. They were also larger in size and seemed to open up the menu to more luxurious fare. It is all you can eat so you can be adventurous as well as gluttonous. It's only about thirty minutes away from home and it makes for a great destination when you want to venture the parts outside of Toronto like Niagara on the Lake.
