Bad service. We waited and waited for our server to return to our table, instead he was in the kitchen sweeping then mopping the floor. We waited for approximately 20 minutes. Also, thought it was weird that he took our glasses to the kitchen each time to refill our ice water. The food...the sauce on the Mongolian beef was too syrupy. The sauce on the Szechuan Chicken was not spicy and was both too salty and sugary. The fried rice may have been flavorful, but was filled with salt as well. These are two pretty regular dishes, so I feel like the chef at this restaurant should've mastered them. One thing I will say is that the pictures of the food, as well as the in-restaurant presentation of the food, was very good. In sum, I now probably have high blood pressure caused by substandard service and excess sodium. read more

Wow, what a great find!! Open on Thanksgiving day, the owners welcomed our family of 14, and we enjoyed great service and wonderful super-fresh flavors with great variety. Had a mini-tutorial on differences between authentic Chinese cuisine and Americanized Chinese food. Look forward to trying more from their "special menu" with the authentic Chimese dishes. I was surprised. Curry Seafood Rangoon, wonton soup and mongolian shrimp was fantastic. The lo mein and fried rice were as expected. We will be coming back trying different dishes. All of the soups and appetizers that I have had are in my opinion some of the best in Columbia as far as Asian cuisine is concerned. All of the entree's have been consistently tasty and filled with fresh vegetables which is a nice change from some of the other local fare. Bamboo Terrace is delicious! They're a tad pricey in comparison to other places in town, but you will not find fresher chinese food anywhere in town besides here. The atmosphere is very quiet, but during evening hours soft music is playing. For appetizers, I recommend the Curry Seafood Rangoon or their House Special Fried Shrimp. The batter on the shrimp is slightly seasoned, but extremely fresh. It comes with mango slices and pieces of glazed walnuts placed on top of spinach, not sure if the spinach is for garnish, but I eat it as well.. try the chicken wings or honey spare ribs, both are really good. The egg drop soup is served with bits of corn and chicken. Hot and sour soup is tasty! Mongolian beef is a favorite, love the little crispy white noodles it's served on. Beef Thai Style Stir Fried Noodles served with a lemon wedge is delicious! Pineapple Shrimp is very good, but be careful of the ginger slices! Orange chicken is amazing! General Tao Shrimp is a definite favorite! Sometimes we order the Double Delight to split and it's always yummy! Since they've open the recipe has changed slightly and you will definitely taste the cumin in the beef! If you're still reluctant, I'd say give them a shot during lunch time. Love, love, love this restaurant. My wife and I have them for take out a couple of times a week and they are always delicious and always consistent! The orange chicken is probably my favorite but the house special Lo mein is outstanding, the Mongolean anything is great, Tso's chicken was good. And you Cant go wrong with the Curry seafood Rangoon's. I will say that the fried rice is "Okay", but really it's just not my style. All things considered, I'm giving 5 stars because this our favorite spot for take out in Columbia. We did dine there once, the service was okay considering how busy the restaurant was. read more

Went for lunch with a party of seven. I had sesame chicken which had way too much breading and was over-cooked. I asked the server, who was very nice, to take it back. She offered to replace it but I declined. Got the check and it was still being charged. Asked to have it removed so she got the manager who actually started to argue with me at the table about my complaint! Are you kidding? "Missouri (and particularly Columbia, Missouri) has slowly been getting a reputation for some of the worst Chinese food anywhere. I was beginning to think I would need to fly to Asia to get a good taste of the Orient. The restaurant is in a rather unassuming strip mall. If it hadn't been acclaimed by a close family member, I would have passed it over thinking it was another trough venue trying to pimp out all you can eat Cantonese food for $5.95 that wasn't worth the cafeteria plate it was served on. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I arrived to a dining area with pristine cleanliness. There was a strong smell to the restaurant that I didn't immediately appreciate but I pawned it off to the smells that naturally arise in any Chinese kitchen that uses five spice, Oyster sauce, and ginger. We ordered three entrees. The General Tso's chicken was the best. It was clearly flash fried which made the texture perfectly crispy without being chewy. It was doused with just the right amount of sauce that wasn't overpowering with sweetness. The Kung Pao chicken was not as fantastic but was good nonetheless. They used white meat chicken with the right proportion of slightly spicy sauce, water chestnuts, peanuts, and green and red peppers. The fried rice was just fair, but I appreciated that the chicken in it was white and thinly cut. All in all, it was a great experience. I would definitely go back. It wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was definitely the best East of California and West of Manhattan. And, according to my fortune, I will be blessed with surprise riches soon. My husband and I eat here often...almost weekly, and that's a big deal for us. The owner is always pleasant and welcoming. She always has excellent suggestions when we have certain cravings. Ask for the special menu if you want authentic Chinese. Our favorites: fried chicken wings (always crispy with a unique lemon pepper seasoning), Malaysian fried rice (with pineapple and peppered shrimp...not stingy at all), boiled fish and pickled cabbage (spicy!), hot and sour soup (best flavored hot and sour soup...hands down, the best I've had...has the "sour" that I love). read more

We had the lunch specials: I had Kung Pow shrimp and my DH had Sweet & Sour chicken. For appetizers we added the fried shrimp to the chicken egg rolls which we chose (along with egg drop soup included in lunch special). Appetizers were spot on though we would have liked fried wontons but they were not on the menu. Because our appetizers all came with S&S sauce, my DH said his main dish (S&S chicken) was too sweet and gave it a 4 out of 5. I would give my KP Shrimp a 5 out of 5 but it did have a little kick which I like so take that into consideration. I was impressed with the number of shrimp included with my lunch portion and that they did not add an extra $1 to the lunch price when i changed from KP chicken to KP shrimp. First time here...won't be the last. Clean and lots of great food choices. Wait staff had some language barriers but were attentive. LOTS of Chinese students eating there and we noticed quite a few Chinese/Thai adults coming in with their families. To me, that indicates that it's pretty authentic.
