Nice small dessert shop with two types of noodles. The beef noodles soup is very flour full. Asian lady is making those wonderful desserts. I bought various cakes but did not take the photo. This cozy bakery has friendly service and an eclectic menu of traditional cupcakes and cakes, boba, shaved ice, and noodle soups. We stopped by for dessert and had peanut butter, salted caramel and cookie dough mini cupcakes, a coconut macaroon, an Oreo bonbon, and a sea salt brown sugar cookie. Great little bakery! Needed a "spur of the moment" cake and they came they with a freshly made Strawberry Black Forest cake. I arrived 10 minutes before they opened and I was 2nd in line! They were more than accommodating and I loved they were open before their scheduled hours and were eager to serve! A testament to why they are successful. Stars for sweets (boba, macarons & matcha cake) only from Nov 2019. This is a small shop in downtown with desserts up front and some Taiwanese entrees, we could see them making the cake in the back. The macarons and matcha cake slice were ok, a bit too sweet & sugary. We ordered a coffee milk tea with boba, which was good but the coffee jelly did push it over on sweetness. The cashier did not smile at all while we were there and didn't really offer much info. The shop offers a lot of cake options, but it'd be great if they also sell some asian bakeries (soft sweet/savory bread). Overall.. clean shop, clean toilet, ok boba drinks & dessert and cashier could smile more. read more

Tried two desserts; one was meh, one was bad. The Red Velvet Cheesecake Swirl Brownie (sounds awesome, right?) looked great on top, but underneath it had the consistency of completely uncooked brownie batter. Not underdone, but entirely unbaked. The classic cheesecake likewise looked great, but tasted like they completely forgot to put sugar in it. Literally the worst cheesecake I've ever had. They serve Folgers instant coffee. It's a cute little shop off on the side of Downtown Columbia that can be easy to miss, but is 100 percent worth stopping by. Their desserts are absolutely amazing and will definitely satisfy your sugar cravings! I particularly love their cheesecakes and both their traditional and green tea variations of tiramisu (or, as they call it, Tira-Mizzou), and, strangely enough, they have a fantastic beef noodle soup. Their customer service can be a bit inconsistent, especially because the owners occasionally have difficulty understanding the orders (but if you bring along a Mandarin speaker you'll be completely fine), but their desserts are delightful. I highly recommend giving U Knead Sweets a shot. read more

While visiting Columbia, I asked my friend to take me to some local places that I couldn't miss before I left to go back home. This is one of those places. I ordered the Beef Noodle Bowl and was not disappointed. I've never had anything like it before so I was a bit nervous before trying it because I didn't have anything to base it off of. Needless to say, I was not disappointed. Really great taste from a place you wouldn't even expect to grab a nice lunch from. Unfortunately, I didn't get any sweets but that's not to say that they didn't look amazing. First the facts: ordered birthday cake and assortment of cheescakes for wife's birthday party. When i went to pickup they were ready ( I was an hour early) helped me carry out to car. Looked great. Guests raved about how good it all was. E.g. cheesecake is something my wife and i both have strong opinions, that differ to say the least. Amazingly, we both loved all the different cheesecakes. I placed a special order here a couple of days ago for a key lime cheesecake. My usual go-to bakery had said that their baker wasn't sure how to make it and I didn't want to settle for key lime pie. After a quick google, I gave U Knead a call. The lady who took my order was not fazed by my request. After sampling the goods very recently I have to say that this is the best cheesecake I have ever had. I have worked in restaurants for more than ten years of my working life. Some of those restaurants made cheesecakes in house daily (not the cheesecake factory--real made from scratch restaurants). Cupcakes are super moist but they have a limited selection of flavors. They also serve food aside from sweets and boba tea. Phenomenal homemade desserts. Love the owners and the service is great. Not a lot of seating but this place has a good location downtown, just is a little hidden. The green tea cake and tiraMizzou are amazing, you can't go wrong with anything here. Prices are good and flavors are catered to East Asian palettes so aren't as rich as typical American desserts but still offers a few traditional American desserts. Definitely a must try! read more

After another day or two I finally reached a person, a young man who didn't identify himself or the name of the business when he answered the phone, and who responded to my questions with indistinguishable grunts. He sounded stoned. I have no idea as to the quality of their baked goods. I'll never get to know, because I will never try this business again. read more

There's this cake that's made out of layers of chocolate, whipped cream and strawberries. I don't know what this cake is called, but I do know this: if I had to marry a cake, I'd buy this one a diamond ring and we'd honeymoon off the coast of Greece. Also the cake is expensive. I actually never get desserts here; I just come for the actual food and drink. The Taiwanese beef noodle soup is among the best in town, along with Okii Mama and Szechuan House. The broth is great, noodles are chewy, bok choy is tender, and they'll supply chili oil as well. I do wish they had bigger chunks of beef or some beef tendon, rather than the moderately sized chunks of thin beef they currently have. You can also order a tea egg to go along with the soup. For some reason they stopped providing pickled vegetables on top. Their boba is pretty good too. The pearls themselves are a little firmer than at Bubble Cup, which isn't bad, just different. The milk tea tastes great. The employees/owners are all really helpful and jolly people who are happy to explain their menu over and over to unfamiliar customers...they have the patience of saints! read more

Not sure where to begin. My husband ordered a birthday cake for me, a simple almond flavored buttercream cake. When he picked it up and brought it home the box smelled like a Chinese restaurant. It had mandarin oranges and strawberries on top which we thought was strange, but maybe just some sort of decoration. (strawberries aren't my favorite and I don't like mandarin oranges at all.) there were a few sliced almonds on the sides. The cream around it was definitely not buttercream; it tasted like generic cool whip. When I cut into the cake, I could tell it was some sort of fruit cream cake--a stale one at that. He picked it up late in the afternoon so I called the next day. I spoke to at least 3 ladies who weren't able to communicate with me. They finally figured out that I wanted to speak to the owner/manager to get a full refund. I gave them my number, got their's and texted a photo of the cake. The owner called me later that day (a good thing, I'll give him credit for that). I asked for a full return of $41.71 and he kept saying no, he would lose money, he had already paid the baker. He also said they don't make custom order cakes, that was all they had with almonds. He finally agreed to give me half the the money back. Only cash, of course. Well, my husband took the cake back that afternoon and a lady gave him $18, not exactly half. It looks like some of the reviews are really good, but looking back many of them were several years ago. I assume there were different owners then. A couple of reviewers enjoyed their beef noodles. Maybe if you're in the market for Asian food, that's the place to go. read more

The salted caramel and chocolate with vanilla icing were inedible. They were either over a week old or had been frozen for a long time. I threw them out. The peanut butter was edible, but not good. What a great little gem of a bakery!! Ordered a graduation cake a couple of weeks ago. Helena was amazing and created an awesome cake. EVERYONE raved that it was THE best cake they've ever eaten. She made a 12" triple layer cake; 2 layers of chocolate, with a vanilla cake as the center. There was a fantastically rich chocolate mousse filling in between the layers. The top was decorated with the school's mascot, mini edible graduation caps and diplomas, as well as the expected "congrats" and my son's name. The frosting border was in the school's colors. I wish we would have taken a pic to share here. We're not from the area, and my son just completed collage and has moved out of the area. I wish we would have discovered this bakery sooner. If we are ever back in the area, we'll make it a point to pick up some delicious treats at this wonderful bakery. read more
