What a wonderful Thai restaurant in the downtown core of Langley! I made a reservation for a group to celebrate a graduation, and the staff were very communicative about their table layouts and what they could do for us. It was quite busy on a Monday evening, which makes me think it would be even more packed on a weekend. For that reason I would definitely recommend making reservations! The restaurant has a lot of dark wood, which isn't a bad vibe, but it doesn't make for the brightest, most welcoming atmosphere. Now for the food: excellent flavors! I thought the pad Thai was among the best I've had in the lower mainland, and the BBQ duck lychee curry was both sweet and wonderfully smoky and savory. The prik khing stir fry had lovely crunchy green beans and hearty tofu. And the biggest thing to note: the portion sizes. The dishes are expensive, but you WILL have leftovers. Food: The taste was good but I wasn't blown away. I want to be fair but I don't think it was worth the drive out all this way. The Thai coffee was probably the worse I've had in my life. It looked pretty but didn't had a weird after taste. I was also disappointed by the papaya salad. We can tell that it wasn't prepared the traditional way and short cuts were taken. The curries, and stir fry, although tasted good, barely had any protein. I really enjoyed the stuffed chicken wings though. The ribs were mostly just bones but the sauce it came with was good. For these reasons, I had to deduct 2 stars . Service: It was really good. We felt they were attentive and we felt well looked after. This place is more of a 3 1/2 stars but because it's so far from us, we won't be returning. It wasn't good enough to warrant going back, even if it was half the distance from us. A restaurant that been on my list to try for awhile and we finally were out in Langley to try it. It's quite a large restaurant with various seating options with indoor dining, booths and outdoor seating. Servers were friendly and attentive. We decided to go with our usual order at Thai restaurants, which was the pad thai and pad si eu. Pad thai- I thought the pricing was kind of high, but the portion of this dish was massive. There was so much noodles, plenty of pieces of chicken and beansprouts. The flavour of the dish was on point and it was our favourite out of the two. Pad si eu- the beef wasn't very tender and the flavour was just alright for me. I found it to be a bit too salty by the end of it. The rice noodles didn't have that wok fried taste. Service and ambiance are good. We just had lunch there with another couple. We came away with the following constructive comments:-) - the satay chicken and pork were rather hard on the skewers that could not pull off easily, would be nicer to marinate the meat longer to make it more tender and not as dry. - the yellow curry was tasty but too watery, needs to be thickened so to cling to food such as rice. - women's washroom was bright and spacious having a window but the men's washroom was a windowless small closet . First off, I called to make reservations and I was told they were at their max reservations for the day and had to be first come first served; fine. Parking is probably one of the worst in this area. Had to park a couple blocks away, which if you know the area, doesn't feel the safest. Ordered the Ban Chok platter to start which was pretty good. The meat skewers were delicious and the fried spring rolls and wonton were good but a little burnt or they were using old oil in the fryer. The Pineapple Fried Rice was a soggy wet mess. Borderline mushy rice that lacked any aroma or flavour and just was so bland. Cashews were just soft and hardly noticeable. Ginger beef was lacking any ginger flavour and the beef was tough and chewy. Possibly overcooked or they didn't tenderize it or season it before cooking. The Gang Goong Pineapple curry was not the best and you only had prawns as a protein option. I'd stick with their many other curries. I have nothing bad to say here. We ordered a few great dishes. If you like heat then medium is spicy with a bit of heat so unless your a novice be conservative. The snapper wasn't what I expected. I'm accustomed to a whole fish being cooked and presented but this was more like cubed and fried chunks in a sweet, sweet sauce with pineapple. I have a sweet tooth but this made me wince a bit. The Thai basil stir fry with beef yes my favourite very meaty and juicy but a little oily. The Pad Thai we opted for the glass noodles so it was a bit different than I've had but it was loaded with protein--chicken and tofu. The spring rolls tasted fresh--in inside tasted t like fresh cabbage not too greasy either. The best part was the Thai iced tea which was delicious!! Service is good! This place is so popular among the hood. I had an early reservation at 5:30 and their food counter is full of take-out orders. Around dinner time, the restaurant is fully packed both both inside & covered outdoor seatings. Food wise, it is very authentic, I have to say. I love their drinks, it is so pretty. The layers, the decor with flower. You only see that in pix and hardly get served as the photos but you DO!!! I've also tried their golden wonton which I rarely see it in a Thai menu before. The skill in making it is up there. However for the food quality, they could have been a bit more generous with the meat. I've ordered a green curry pork, but I really have to dive into the bowl and find the meat... I think I will go back and try more dishes for sure. read more

Enjoyed a yummy Thai dinner for a friend's birthday on Saturday night. Our meal included the Pad Thai (with prawns), Chok Dee Platter, Thai Fried Rice, Pineapple Cashew Fried Rice (with chicken), and drinks: Thai Iced Tea and Coco-Diva. I originally wanted the Curried Noodles with Chicken (Kao Soi), but unfortunately they were sold out for the day. Was really sad about that cause that's what I was looking forward to all day. Loved the variety of the platter - everything was delicious. My Thai Iced Tea was super refreshing. For entree, the Pineapple Fried Rice and one of the Pad Thai's were mine cause the idea was that I would eat half each and take the rest home. But the portions were so huge that it looked like I barely made a dent in either. No joke, had it for lunch for 4 DAYS straight. Overall, it was a delicious meal. Overall, it's a solid 4.5 stars. Friendly staff and nice ambience. Lots of tables but very busy so if it's in rush hour or having a big group, it's best to have a reservation. Lots of food to choose from and some options for drinks and desserts too. Food is delicious but on the heavier side. I'm not the biggest fan of fish but their fried fish is on of the best I've had. Fried rice is very tasty but a tad salty for my personal taste. My family seems to love the fried rice and they don't find it heavy so depends on the person. Once again terrible quality from door dash order, no chicken in my spring rolls. Complete rip off

Last night we ordered take out and it was the biggest waste of money. The review isn't even based on the fact that we had to wait 40min for 2 items for take out on a Thursday night but solely on the food. We ordered the Pad Thai and the Drunken Noodles both vegan (which means tofu as the protein oh ya and no egg with the pad thai). The portions were greatly reduced in size from when we ate in the restaurant pre pandemic. The pad thai was pushed and cramed into the small take out box so that all the over cooked and mushy rice noodles were compressed into one solid slab that needed to be cut like a lasagna. The Drunken Noodles were also very overcooked and the only real resemblance of them was the large mass that had stuck together during cooking. Both items were swimming in oil and so much that it was the only taste. We ordered a medium spice level and literally received a 0. There was not only no spice at all but the only "flavor" was a bit of a sweet taste (kinda like sweet basil) and oil. To pay $52 after tip (they're so nice to add tip percentages and it starts at 18%!!!) was a total disaster. Thai Express in the Willowbrook mall is a million times better, faster and cheaper. I like to support local businesses when possible but to get hosed like we did for food that basically ended up in the organic bin is disgraceful. read more

Nice ambiance. If you are going for dinner, make a reservation. This place gets busy at dinner time - and there is a good reason for that - the food is very good, and is presented in a way that I wanted to take pictures instead of eating it. The service was prompt and courteous. I have been to this restaurant several times, and I will return several more times. During my most recent visit, I tried the pork bone soup. The broth was so flavourful and complex - and was very well balanced. I would return again just for this soup. read more

Totally fine dinning experience. Love the ambience of the place. Certificates and licenses are hanged in the gallery from main door to front of restaurant. Edges of the restaurant have a nice and comfortable compartment seating. Its like train boxes. Infact there is dinning seating in the central area of the restaurant. Servers are pretty sweet spoken and well versed in english. They understand their own cuisine and also helpful in customizing ur order to vegetarian if required. Big serving portion which can be shared by two people especially if you dont have a big appetite. Pad thai with tofu was amazing. Tofu was crispy enough cut into tiny cubes. Yummu flavours of brown sugar with thai spices could be smelled and tasted in equal proportions. Yellow curry again vegetarian with tofu n pineapple chunks turned out to be mind blowing. As I recall, this is totally different then the original Tom Zaap we had here, the original soup had Cilantro, Green Onion, basil, lime juice, roasted chilli and tenter pork ribs. The latest one we had here has an overwhelming taste of lemon grass which makes the whole soup tasted like Tom Yum! A bit disappointed! Other items we had were: Seasoned Lettuce Wraps $15.00 This time way too greasy! Gang Goong Pineapple Curry $19.00 Too bad they used canned pineapple, and the overall dish was too sweet and unable to taste any curry. Chicken Cashew Nut $15.00 Average! They could do better from what I had here before. Five Spice Fish $20.00 Yes, this is the best out of the whole meal, at least I would come back for this item!! For starters, staff do not advertise that they have lunch specials when they drop off the menus. You have to ask what are the specials and it is designated with the letter "L" on the regular menu. Lunch specials are $12 which includes a soup and two fried wonton wrappers. I ordered a green curry with beef. A small bowl of veggie soup was dropped off. It was a nice medley of veggies in a light tasting, clear broth. My entree arrived shortly afterwards. The green curry was flavourful and was medium spice level as requested. There was a good amount of beef in the curry. Salad was refreshing while the wontons wrappers were fried perfectly. When paying for the bill, please double check your bill. Our server made a mistake and we had paid our bill. She came back, informed us of her mistake and then tried to overcharge us. She presented the correct bill and proceeded to charge us the new bill in full. Then told us she could not figure out the $3.15 difference on her own when we pointed out we already paid part of the bill. I took out my phone calculator to do the math for her. The first time I tried this place was after a shopping trip at Willowbrook mall. I remember I had a nosebleed because I was prone to nosebleeds if I ate hot and spicy food. But that wasn't even the most memorable part! This restaurant had been on my mind ever since I went a couple years ago because of the pad thai!! Yes it was soo good! On par with my favourite thai restaurant in Vancouver. Everything was a big checkmark: the portions, the flavour, and the spice level. The curry unfortunately isn't on the same level as my fav restaurant, but it's still yummy. We came in during lunch time on a Sunday to order take out and the restaurant only had 3 other groups. We had to wait about 30 minutes for a table as it was very busy, but the server took our number and called us when our table was available. The server quickly came to our table with water, and then returned shortly after to take our order. We ordered yellow curry with chicken medium spice (comes with 1 small bowl of rice), drunken noodles with beef and spicy calamari as an appetizer. The food came together, which I actually prefer. The spicy calamari was recommended by the server and it was delicious! Crispy, unique flavour and the cilantro dipping sauce was awesome. The yellow curry was good as well that had a familiar Thai curry flavour. We ordered medium spice, but it tasted more mild. if you like it hot then I'd ask for it very spicy. The drunken noodles were tasty and portion size was generous. Unfortunately we received chicken instead of beef, so I was a bit disappointed. But not enough to send it back for it to go to the waste, we just didn't say anything. The food overall was really good and packed with flavour. The portions for the noodles were very generous and I'd say the other dishes were fair portion sizes. It was about $60 and change for everything including tip. The service was excellent. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. Everyone was wearing masks, and we were seated on the platform area which felt more distanced than the main seating area. Had a nice visit to Langley yesterday night and with a lot of restaurants booking up for the holiday weekend I was so glad I found Ban Chok Dee! The place was packed at open and I was very impressed how quickly they got the dishes out on each table! We ordered Stuffed Chicken Wings + Pad Thai + Sweet & Sour Snapper BBQ + Duck Lychee Curry + Tom Kha Gai + Thai Basil Stir Fry. For most of the dishes the restaurant does bring more of a sweetness to each dishes. Amongst my favourites were the Stuffed Chicken wing, Duck Curry and Tom Kha Gai. The chicken wings were the biggest stuffed chicken wings I've ever seen! Very nice and crispy and lots of stuffing inside. The duck curry had the fun addition of lychee in it that sweetens up the curry and lightens it up. And the Tom Kha Gai has been my go-to soup. The coconut milk aroma from the soup is the best and was a great starter to open up your appetite! The snapper would probably be one item I would skip next time as it did have very few small pieces snappers in the dish and was filled with fried noodles more than the fish.
