    Chicken Briyani

I like to stop by the Banana Leaf when I have a hankering for some Indian food. I've tried many of the dishes, but my favorite is Chicken Briyani. It's flavorful and spicy..just how I like it! Eat up, but make sure you have something soothing to chase the spice.

Wow, just tried the Chicken 65 meal here, and it was AMAZING! It's not deep-fried (very healthy) but tastes 2x better than anything I've tried before MA. It's also halal, which deserves even more extra points! The rice has peas and cilantro, and the flatbread is also great. The cauliflower side dish tastes so succulent. Highly recommended.

The first thing we noticed upon entry was the tasteful interior, and our server greeted us as soon as we entered and made sure we had fresh water. First to arrive was the Gobi Manchurian, and it's the best in town. NOTE: If you have not tried this slice of heaven, PLEASE try it. simply amazing I also ordered the chicken lollipop Masala, and it was perfectly cooked, tender, and the sauce was lovely. My wife ordered the Chicken Biryani(medium) and the Lamb Vindaloo for me. My wife enjoyed her Briyani, and I was excited to see what the kitchen would prepare. NOTE: I enjoy flavor and spice, so I ordered my Vindaloo "crazy hot", and my server asked if I was sure. I must add that I have requested Indian food in his manner many times before, only to receive food with the spice level of Wonder Bread. Namaste is different! I got the food I asked for. Great flavor and spice level.. They might have another 2-3 secret handshake spice levels, but this one impressed.

I was picking up a book at the library and it's right next door, they advertised on the sign they have toiletries so I thought they might have toilet paper. I didn't see any so I asked. There was a woman filling a bag with ice cream and told the person behind the counter to get it from the back, the clerk was trying to ask her how much to charge, but she didn't respond and then she left. So the clerk comes back with one roll of toilet paper unwrapped like it was taken from their bathroom. I was like, ok, fine, thinking she might charge me .50¢ or $1. I also was buying a yerba mate drink. She rang it up and it was over $7, I asked how much the drink was she said $3.49, so you are charging me over $3 for a single roll of toilet paper, and she says yes. I said no, I will get toilet paper somewhere else, I am not paying you over $3 for a roll of toilet paper, that's insane. I gave her cash, she was still holding the money in her hand telling me I could get something else. I was so confused why she just didn't take that off, she had not put the money in the register, the transaction was not complete, she was still holding the money. I pointed at the money in her hand, and looked at her as if she was trying to make a simple situation hard. She kept repeating you can get something else, I've already rang it up. I wasn't about to argue with her in front of the small child sitting on the counter. So i said well can I get another drink? Still confused why she just didn't give me my money. So I just left with two yerba mate drinks, so strange. I went around the corner to another store and got 4 rolls of toilet paper in a package for $2.49. Seriously!

Even so, when the house special lentil soup arrived, I wasn't impressed. It wasn't tremendously flavorful, with a hint of lemon but not the level of spice I would have expected. However, when my okra arrived, I was quite impressed. I ordered it because the menu promised pomegranate and fenugreek seeds, the sort of combination that if I tried to cook with I think I'd fail, but the weird and interesting clash of flavors was highly effective. The high spice level I asked for burned throughout. Strangely, dosas (crepes) are featured heavily on their marketing, but on their website were buried in a "special menu" which I didn't get in person. Having had a dosa the day before, I didn't push the issue. But between this and the Indo-Chinese dishes they offer, you can definitely find some interesting food here.

The buffet, with many choices, each dish replenished often, is served with plastic and paper goods - like a casual catered event. Don't let that put you off. Enjoy!
