I had the strangest experience here the other day, this was only my second time there, the first time I went for vegetarian food, and they didn't have half the things on the menu. I was picking up a book at the library and it's right next door, they advertised on the sign they have toiletries so I thought they might have toilet paper. I didn't see any so I asked. There was a woman filling a bag with ice cream and told the person behind the counter to get it from the back, the clerk was trying to ask her how much to charge, but she didn't respond and then she left. So the clerk comes back with one roll of toilet paper unwrapped like it was taken from their bathroom. I was like, ok, fine, thinking she might charge me .50¢ or $1. I also was buying a yerba mate drink. She rang it up and it was over $7, I asked how much the drink was she said $3.49, so you are charging me over $3 for a single roll of toilet paper, and she says yes. I said no, I will get toilet paper somewhere else, I am not paying you over $3 for a roll of toilet paper, that's insane. I gave her cash, she was still holding the money in her hand telling me I could get something else. I was so confused why she just didn't take that off, she had not put the money in the register, the transaction was not complete, she was still holding the money. I pointed at the money in her hand, and looked at her as if she was trying to make a simple situation hard. She kept repeating you can get something else, I've already rang it up. I wasn't about to argue with her in front of the small child sitting on the counter. So i said well can I get another drink? Still confused why she just didn't give me my money. So I just left with two yerba mate drinks, so strange. I went around the corner to another store and got 4 rolls of toilet paper in a package for $2.49. Seriously! read more

This was the first place we saw that had ice cream so we went in. They had a menu on the wall when you walked in with prices. When we got inside, they had a big menu above the counter with the prices marked off. I didn't like that you couldn't see the prices. We got 3 ice cream cones. They were fine but mine was icy. The last rang it up for more than the jenny out front said, so clearly it's an old menu. I wish we would have waited because there was an actual ice cream shop a block further down. I did walk around for a minute and I have no idea what the store is going for. They had lots of random items from medicine to jams. They had some jams on sale but they were expired by 1 to 2 years. I'm not one to mine expiration dates too much but that seems to be pushing it. read more

It was my fourth time coming to this restaurant over the past three months today. I always get the chickpea and hummus wrap which is absolutely delicious. When I got home the person had made it with a ton of raw onions which aren't on the ingredient list and less than a tablespoon of hummus in the whole wrap. It was disgusting. After we checked out the city's namesake "Little Rock" and the Junction Bridge, getting a bite at a local shop before leaving town seemed proper, but we didn't see anything open until I spotted 4square, almost the only sign of commercial life in downtown Little Rock on a Sunday morning(before 11AM), a stark contrast to the bustling scene the night before. My travel companion is a meathead and he frowned upon the vegan sign but he had nothing against souvenirs. I figured we could peek at the menu sideways while browsing for souvenirs and if nothing strikes our fancy, leaving without ordering food would not seem too rude. As a previous reviewer, I also detected an Indian flair in the store. While I was wavering between Hummus & Tofu wrap and Portobello & Hummus wrap, my companion quickly decided on the Greek Sandwich (with hummus, avocado, kalamata olives, spinach and tomato). So, without furthur ado, I picked the Pesto Power Wrap since I love pesto. The only girl who worked there was the cashier as well as the food prep, so it took about 10 minutes for our order to be ready. When it was brought to our table, we both thought that my wrap was way better looking than his sandwich and I generously swapped half of my wrap with him. The sandwich was good but could use more hummus and avocado (the avocado on it was a very thin layer, almost paste like) and I would have preferred wheat bread over the sourdough bread used. The wrap had lots of fresh veggies bursting with flavor and the sunflower seeds added a nice crunch. And, let's be honest, doesn't anything taste better with pesto? 3.5 star food and Sunday morning service bumps it up to 4. You don't have to be a vegetarian or vegan to enjoy yourself here. This place is a true hidden gem in Little Rock! It's part gift shop, part smoothie shop, and part really good vegetarian/vegan sandwich shop with a table and chairs for you to eat inside. It's an entirely veggie/vegan menu, with really great flavors and a wide range of options to choose from, for excellent prices! We tried a couple of sandwiches - a potato-based one, and the chickpea wrap, and got them as combos with soup/chips. Both were very good, and the chickpea wrap (with Indian spices) was a standout. We tried the lentil soup (delicious) and creamy tomato soup (phenomenal!) If I lived in Little Rock, I'd want to eat my way through the whole menu. Both soups were served very hot -- almost too hot to eat at first. And the bags of chips we got were seemingly random (BBQ and plain); maybe you could request a particular one? A big drawback: there was only one guy who was at the register, preparing the sandwiches, and bringing out the food, so it took a long time to get the food. We were a party of only two people, and our food came out not all together - it would be tough to eat together in a large group. You might be able to call ahead and order take-out, though. (Another drawback: we were charged a different amount than what the menu said, by $1. When we pointed this out, we were told that the menu had recently updated prices, but they hadn't changed the sign yet. They ultimately refunded us a dollar, but there was a mismatch between what they said and what we were charged.) Support plant-based restaurants and check them out! read more

They treat potential customers like bums and inconveniences. some man wanted to change, and they said they couldn't open the drawer to help without him making a purchase, so I told him and the lady at the counter id make a purchase so they could open the drawer and assist this gentleman, then they didn't tell me until after I completed my purchase that because I paid with a credit card they still couldn't open the drawer. Knowing exactly what was happening they baited me into buying some thing I didn't want knowing I was doing it just to help that guy out, knowing they would still turn him away. then after all of that, when we complained enough about their actions they pulled out a stack of cash And made him change without ever opening the drawer. Just blatantly and manipulatively treating people with disrespect and discrimination. The man wanting change was clean, respectful, and calm. He had cash and politely asked for assistance just to be stereotyped and viewed as a bum. read more

This is a gift shop with a small kitchen inside. They had a small sitting area inside for those who wanted to dine in. The food was awesome!!! I always get excited when I can find a spot with good vegan food/choices when I'm traveling for work. I had a combo with the mushroom and hummas wrap and Chickpea and lentil soup. Great flavor and very filling. They also have a selection of vegan deserts. I got the blueberry muffin, which I saved for later. For all those vegans, vegetarians, and other trendy cool people who aren't looking for a meal consisting of hamburgers and steak and deep fried crap, this is your haven. And even if you're not, there's still a lot to choose from here. Discovered this place when passing through Little Rock, and it was an absolute delight. They make a mean wrap, and their chick pea curry soup is amazing. I've heard it rumored that their paninis are also a meal to be treasured. The whole shop itself is very laid back but very well-stocked. All sorts of local jams and jellies and butter line one wall, Arkansas collectible trinkets are everywhere, ice cream and cookies and soft drinks are naturally a staple...I'm tellin' ya, they got it all. And the owners are SUPER nice. We chatted with them for a long time before even deciding to buy something. All in all, an excellent place to stop in and grab some grub. Not the place to go for a burger and a beer, that kind of vittles you won't find here; but if you're searching for different fare, you won't be disappointed at 4Square. Oh my :( My negative review may be a result of our late arrival at the place but there's no excuse for rotten food at a restaurant! Our party of three ordered a variety of sandwiches and soups that sounded delicious after our long day of driving. 45+ minutes later, some sandwiches and styrofoam cups of soup came out and we eagerly bit into them. The mixed bean soup was sour. We're cooks and we know the difference between willfully fermented food versus the sour of rotten food. When we politely told the waitress and chef, they said that was the flavor and perhaps was lemon. No, we insisted, to please give us another soup which they kindly got us. But then the tofu hummus wrap had this distinct flavor. But I was so hungry that I devoured half of it only to realize that the distinct flavor was of half-rotten tofu! Throughout all of this, the staff was friendly but incredibly slow and it doesn't matter how friendly service is if the food is rotten! I had their T.L.T. and it was amazingly seasoned. My spouse had a flat bread pizza and enjoyed it, too. My only complaint/request would be that their only seating option is high top tables with backless stools - not great for hanging out and there's lots of cool things in their store to check out. read more

I came here first to browse through their souvenirs and knick-knacks, but much to my surprise, they boasted a vegetarian menu--fake meat and all, right in the heart of Arkansas. I ordered a BLT (with tempeh bacon) to-go, which included a side of truffle oil roasted potatoes. It was satisfying, nothing extraordinary. I was still reeling over the fact that they offered it in the first place. Being in the tourist River Market stretch of Little Rock, the prices are comparable to SF (just over $10 for food and drink). The service was very hospitable, however, and the menu is long and diverse enough (they also serve ice cream), that I'd like to make it back here again. I think they let certain food items sit up for too long. I ordered a slice of lemon cake and it was stale. I also ordered two birthday cake or unicorn ice cream cones I think it was and the cones were stale and also wasn't a full scoop of ice cream inside one cone. I love this place. The chickpea wrap is incredible, as are most other things on the menu. If you're a vegetarian or vegan, do yourself a favor and eat here! It seems like a family-owned and operated business for the most part which is also a plus. I agree with the other reviewer--the place could use some better seating. I think a more "coffee shop" vibe with comfortable chairs and smaller tables could make this a real hangout spot due to the great location and being one of the only good places open downtown on Sundays. read more

Pretty good - small selection, but the wraps are always delicious and filling. I usually stop here when I'm downtown and the River Market is closed (which seems to be a lot when it isn't summertime) or if I want to get a quick smoothie before going into Riverfest. I also like killing time by looking at all the souvenirs and tchotchkes, even though I think I've only actually bought something like that once. Just a note - some of the candy and vendor items aren't entirely vegetarian (gelatin, carmine, etc) so be sure to watch out and read the ingredients if you're a weird plant eater like me. read more
