Eh Walked in to be told that they are closing though the open sign was lit. Walked right back out. Next time lead with a hello or be closed!

Such an adorable little cafe with so much to see. Wonderful selection of soups, salads, sandwiches, snacks, and desserts. I love to order the Go Green Smoothie (Spinach, banana, pineapple, apple, and yogurt) and the Quinoa Wrap (Quinoa, lettuce, spinach, carrot, cucumber, hummus, and chipotle). Their gift baskets are perfect for every occasion and they even offer delivery with Bite Squad (I received 20% off my Bite Squad order with code LOCAL20)

Was a little shocked this was a great little store. Has all kinds of knick knacks and made to order food. Will have to try and order something next time, but we were able to purchase some great souvenirs for the kids here

Half of the pesto power wrap -- nice crunch from sunflower seeds

After we checked out the city's namesake "Little Rock" and the Junction Bridge, getting a bite at a local shop before leaving town seemed proper, but we didn't see anything open until I spotted 4square, almost the only sign of commercial life in downtown Little Rock on a Sunday morning(before 11AM), a stark contrast to the bustling scene the night before. My travel companion is a meathead and he frowned upon the vegan sign but he had nothing against souvenirs. I figured we could peek at the menu sideways while browsing for souvenirs and if nothing strikes our fancy, leaving without ordering food would not seem too rude. As a previous reviewer, I also detected an Indian flair in the store. While I was wavering between Hummus & Tofu wrap and Portobello & Hummus wrap, my companion quickly decided on the Greek Sandwich (with hummus, avocado, kalamata olives, spinach and tomato). So, without furthur ado, I picked the Pesto Power Wrap since I love pesto. The only girl who worked there was the cashier as well as the food prep, so it took about 10 minutes for our order to be ready. When it was brought to our table, we both thought that my wrap was way better looking than his sandwich and I generously swapped half of my wrap with him. The sandwich was good but could use more hummus and avocado (the avocado on it was a very thin layer, almost paste like) and I would have preferred wheat bread over the sourdough bread used. The wrap had lots of fresh veggies bursting with flavor and the sunflower seeds added a nice crunch. And, let's be honest, doesn't anything taste better with pesto? 3.5 star food and Sunday morning service bumps it up to 4. You don't have to be a vegetarian or vegan to enjoy yourself here. Don't be shy.

Wow! this place is amazing. The people that work here are amazing also! If your in Little Rock make this your lst stop to truly experience Arkansas and great people.

Very friendly staff that made most options vegan. Yummy sandwiches and wraps! I had the Bombay grilled sandwich and chickpea wrap. Will go back to try the black bean burger.

Traveling through a Little Rock for work, my group decided to grab breakfast before flying out. We came in due to the raving reviews from a multitude of online sources and they did not disappoint. I ordered the Root Benny and the blueberry muffin based on the host's recommendation. First cut into my poached egg and I already knew it was the start of a culinary journey. Absolute flavor and texture perfection. The seasonal greens (steamed kale?) paired so well with the greens and the crostini was the perfect vehicle for yolk dipping. The blueberry muffin was small but delicious--exactly what you should expect from a muffin. I wish I would've remembered to order the cookies to go. I suppose I'll have to come back.

They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a menu that features a fresh and healthier take on classic southern food. I really enjoyed the spicy tofu bowl with grits and collared greens, their homemade cornbread, and strawberry shortcake for dessert! I also liked their arancini which was on the specials menu. Their classic lemonade was delicious, and the perfect complement to my meal. I'd highly recommend The Root Cafe for a memorable meal!

While the atmosphere was less than lively at 2 PM on a Wednesday, I could see this would be a great evening spot out with your friends. We kicked off with the potato wedges and OMG they were so good and the dipping sauces were so unusual, it was the perfect appetizer as we sat down starving. I had the.Peace Out bowl with grilled chicken and loved all the textures. Could've done without the pickled carrots in the bowl, that was a weird addition. Maybe would've been better as aside. My friend had the Al Pastor tacos and we enjoyed them both. Service was steady and efficient. I look forward to trying it again maybe having a cocktail or beer on my next visit.

The birria is my go-too every where I go, tortilla, cheese, meat ratio was great, I'd even say they were very generous with meat, which I appreciated (and that's rare). The consommé was lacking, which unfortunately can make or break this dish. I perceived it was watered down to go further? Not sure, but the meat barely had the flavor as well, so not sure if this was an isolated batch issue, or just the original recipe. I could absolutely tell, the base flavor would have been good, it just reallllly needed to be more concentrated. Meat was cooked perfectly though. Rice was on point too, as a side... (and a lot of places screw up rice). I love this brand, and frequent their other establishment, so had high hopes. Recommendation for kids menu... the butter noodles... coming from a mom of several, add salt and parsley to it. Gives it a little ZIP! You had potato wedges on menu as well, maybe offer it "plain" for kids, with ketchup. I do realize it's a taco place, but parents look at kid menus before coming. When all else fails for kids, "French fries" usually work. Oh!! We sat on patio, could smell the dumpsters, if you could move them, that would be a great change. Especially in the summer heat.

My wife also had a couple of cocktails and a few glasses of wine. There was a lot that we enjoyed. The oysters and scallops were fantastic, and both desserts were excellent. The bread and butter were also very good. My wife thought the wine selection was excellent as well. Unfortunately, there were a few things that kept the experience from being as good as it could have been. The biggest disappointment was the duck breast. The flavor was good, but the fat wasn't rendered properly and the skin wasn't crispy. The result was a chewy, rubbery texture that made the dish difficult to enjoy. My wife's walleye was cooked well, but the blueberry sauce was so strong that it overwhelmed much of the fish's flavor. The cocktails were okay--certainly drinkable, but not a standout. We also found a plastic bread bag tie in my wife's salad. We pointed it out to our waiter, who removed it from the table, but there was no apology, explanation, replacement salad, or any acknowledgment beyond taking it away. Finding a foreign object in your food is unfortunate; having it essentially ignored was disappointing. One other thing we noticed was that the sides felt like an afterthought. Both entrées came with the same carrots and Brussels sprouts. They were fine, but nothing particularly memorable, and serving the exact same sides with very different dishes made the entrées feel less thoughtfully composed. The service was generally good, although somewhat slow. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, but he also didn't seem especially familiar with the menu at times. Overall, this was a mixed experience, especially with a price tag north of $300. The appetizers, desserts, and wine were the highlights of the evening. There were moments where the meal was genuinely excellent, but the issues with both entrées, the uninspired sides, and the lack of response to finding a bread tie in the salad kept it from feeling like the special anniversary dinner we had hoped for.

A friend of mine made the comment that for as long as they've been around, perhaps they have not evolved enough during that time but nonetheless it is no surprise that they continue to bring in the clientele they do. It wasn't our favorite but it's a pretty nice spot that many would enjoy.
