The Banana Republic store in The Village at Corte Madera is a nice place to visit because it tends to have the latest products. During one of our recent visits, we were searching for a couple of specific items but had difficulty finding the correct size. We asked one of the associates, a young man who was organizing shelves, and he was quick to help us get what we needed from the back room. As it sometimes happens, after our visit, we had to return to exchange one of the items for a different size; again, not a problem. The associates were all very helpful in getting us what we needed. Reminds me of the Chicago store, which always showcases more of the luxe clothing items and accessories than I was used to at my suburban BR stores. I rarely write Yelp reviews, but the team at Banana Republic absolutely earned this one. I was in a bit of a bind trying to find the perfect suit for a wedding- tight timeline, specific vision, and a healthy dose of stress. From the moment I walked in, the service was exceptional. Not just "helpful" in the usual retail sense, but genuinely invested in making sure I looked and felt great for the big day. The staff (shout-out to Hilda and Juahil) patiently walked me through fabrics, fits, and colors, offering thoughtful advice without being pushy. They also connected me with a tailor and helped with same-day adjustments to get the fit just right. It honestly felt like I had a personal stylist and concierge rolled into one. Let me start this off by saying that I have never been to a banana republic before nor will I ever return to shop at one of their locations again. I purchased a suit over Christmas and have been too busy to take it in for alterations until today (also the tailor is only present 3 days out of the week) when I purchased the suit I was told they gave free alterations for suit purchases which was a deciding factor in me purchasing the suit or not. after i got measured and fitted they asked me to pay $50 for the suit to be tailored, when i explained that one of the salespeople told me they were free they offered to charge $25 instead of $50. I then asked if i could return the suit, they did not allow me to do this either stating their 30day return policy. I accepted the $25 alteration fee but then shortly after came back for the suit and decided to email a higher up in the company to explain my situation and hopefully be met with mercy. When I went to retrieve the suit I was met with the most unprofessional manager I have ever talked to Eddie, he called me a liar, rude, and a gaslighter to my face and insulted me as i walked out the door. I hope whoever reads this will think twice about spending their valuable time and money at this location read more

As a woman of fashion with a keen eye for detail and swag-- I found the store to be staged very nicely. It was open, well color coded, and I loved the selection of jewelry and blinged out knickknacks on the display table in the middle of the store. Great focal point and change of mood and scenery. What took my 10 to a 6 in this category was definitely the bathroom. Bathrooms are huge! Considering that the store was so nice, I decided to use the restroom (and I DO NOT use public restrooms unless it's an ultimate emergency), but since the store was so beautified, I decided it may be okay. Was I wrong? The bathroom was quite unpleasantly. The sealing around the base of the toilet was brown, mildewy looking, and peeling off. The floor was dirty, the lighting was terrible, the setup was yucky and it smelled. Not an elegant bathroom whatsoever. I felt like I needed to shower afterwards. BR should look at RH's bathroom and get some ideas. Once this is together, I can certainly rate my experience a 5. Nonetheless, the associates were phenomenal and I loved everything else about the store. I'll be back! read more

I came to this store from Santa Rosa to look for a nice suit and not only did I find the perfect suit, the customer service was outstanding from start to finish! From the moment I walked into the suit area I had Mike and their seamster (forget his name, sorry) both helping me. Both men wore suits, were very professional and seamed to really know suits, which I don't, so having their help was the best scenario I could have imagined. They also do alterations right there in the store, so they were able shorten my pants in just over an hour. My family and I just walked around for a bit and came back. The majority of my wardrobe is from BR. I normally order online due to the distance, but this type of customer service is rare these days and I'll definitely be more willing to make the drive next time. Great experience! read more

I came here recently to return a Christmas gift (for some reason, my mom likes to get me sweaters that are two sizes too small). In any case, instead of exchanging it for a larger size, I decided to buy something I actually wanted - new pair of jeans. But man oh man, jeans here are expensive. And they're not exactly designer jeans either. In fact, I was surprised by how pricey everything was here. Button down shirts for $90?! Yikes. This ain't Nordstroms, guys. The overall layout of the store is nice and inviting. And the employees are friendly and not too pushy. But I just didn't find much here that appealed to my inner-fashionista. Oh well. I did wind up getting a pair of jeans though. But truth be told, they looked better in the store than they did when I put them on at home. They kind of remind of Dad jeans. Sigh. read more

This review is mostly for Stella, a wonderful BR representative with a kind, helpful and gentle demeanor. She assisted me from start to finish which really added to my experience. After the 2021 brand refresh with elevated fabric and store merchandising I feel like BR changed for the better- and it really shows in the staffing. I found two shirts that I liked at the Corte Madera, CA, Banana Republic, but they were too short to tuck in. When I left the fitting room a very pleasant sales woman explained they could order the long size, and she stayed with me and helped get me a very good discount. First, they were on sale, and then I asked her to look up my credit card from the driver's license. The card had expired and she renewed it so I could get an additional 40% discount! So in the end I got two shirts for less than half the price. The sales woman, Erin, was really great to work with and was very personable as well. I ordered a pair of pants online using the Banana Republic sizing program. The pants are at least two sizes too big. It was a sale item that stated it could not be returned - it did not say the pants could not be exchanged for a size that fits. Customer Service online will do nothing for me. Beware - DO NOT use their sizing program and NEVER order non-refundable sale items. You will REGRET doing business with Banana Republic. SO SAD as I usually have good luck with this store.... but I won't spend another dime here. read more

Do you think it is fair just because you were born tall and have long legs and need pants that are made for tall and if you can ONLY buy them on-line with Banana Republic, but you can't buy them in the store and if you happen to not only be a fan of Banana Republic but also a Luxe card holder of Banana Republic that you should be denied a sale price of 30% off all items purchased IF you buy a pair of jeans at full price and if you are willing to BUY a pair of freaking jeans at full price however they don't carry tall in the store so you are screwed and the only thing the crappy sales person did was look at you with a dumb ass smile and said "sorry, nothing can be done" Whew that was one run on sentence....... Well, I don't think it is fair and that is exactly what happened to my friend yesterday while I was with her and so we both left the store leaving everything we had behind and headed down to Nordstroms and proceeded to drop $1,000. bucks where they know how to give you good service... [I am posting the same review as I just posted for the Emeryville store, fyi.] I am approaching 30 (well, approaching 29) and doing a bit of a wardrobe overall, so I've spent a considerable amount of time in Banana Republic this week (both the Marin and Emeryville stores). At both locations, I had some of the best customer service experiences of my life. In Marin, Matt was super helpful and honest, and gave me some great, straightforward advice. I was there a little past closing time and he continued to be graciously focused on helping me out. We even left the store together and talked for a sec on the way to the parking lot - genuine dude. In Emeryville, I hit the jackpot with Jerome. I've never had such a good time buying clothes! Beyond being a funny, interesting person, Jerome playfully challenged my assumptions about what I could pull off and actually changed the way I think about style in general. (I sort of can't believe I'm writing this in such an earnest voice, but the experience was profound!) The other salespeople and even some customers chimed in from time to time and I felt...supported? I guess it takes a village (a republic?)! Whoever is in charge of customer service training for BR is a genius. I went in to the Emeryville store to make a return and left with a whole new wardrobe - and felt GREAT about it! I love the creativity and boldness of the staff. I get the sense that the people who work there are encouraged to be themselves and in the context of a mall, that's pretty refreshing. read more

After I read them the style number, they confirmed the dress in my size was in stock... Since the first time I called earlier in the week, the clearance sale went from 40% off to 50% !!! hahaha - This meant I could splurge ($6) to have the dress sent to my house. read more

I love shopping at this Banana Republic, there is a huge Sale area and always a ton of good finds there. They recently remodeled the store and it has paid off in a great way. Everything is well laid out and there is plenty of room in the store, they have an elevator if you are too tired to take the stairs. They have a petites section, rare in itself and a whole floor for the men to wander and shop (upstairs). The staff is really great here and will bust their butt to make sure you have the size or color you need. I really like Alicia who is a bundle of style, I actually saw her in the Minneapolis Airport and said hello to her. She was a bit shocked that I remembered her but we laughed when we talked about how small the world really is. Banana can get a bit pricey, but their T-shirts do not fade when you wash them and their dresses are timeless. Plus the new purse lines they have are so buttery soft, I love them. If the line gets a bit long downstairs go upstairs to the men's dept. There is never a line there (though I bet there will be now....) read more

The sales section is bigger than some banana stores I've been to! Good layout, and nice flow. Very, very friendly staff. If you can't find something, they are more than happy to check the back to see if they have any more. The thing I hate most is when people say "whatever we have is out here". In my opinion, lie to me. Tell me you're going to go check! Go in the back and text your significant other a joke you overheard from a colleague earlier and come back and tell me that there's nothing in the back. The 1 time in 100 that you do go back and find something that was mis-catagorized will make my day! For the other 99 times, I'll still feel better that you at least pretended to do your job, instead of giving me a straight up "no". But, I digress, I love the Corte Madera shopping center and this is definitely one of the better BRs that I've been to! read more

If you compare this BR to other BRs, it is 100% average. The people are generally pretty nice and don't get in your way. They do occasionally offer little bits of advice which are sometimes helpful, sometimes not. The lines are generally too long, but it is what it is. I'm tempted to take a point off because sometimes the entitled Marin-ites make me want to scream, but BR shouldn't suffer for that. read more

Okay so I was window shopping today at this location and witnessed an employee yelling at a customer trying to return an item that was too small. She told the young lady that she had no leadership skills and was quite literally yelling at her saying she was lying about never wearing the item. If you are going to shop at this store, make sure to double check your receipt, because they could charge more than you bought. I bought five items at this store. After I walked out and checked the receipt, however, I found there was one more item that I never bought and they charged me. When I returned the store and asked them, they couldn't explain how could this happen? I got my refund. But the cashier who made this mistake didn't even apologize. I witnessed an employee today leave a TERRIBLE customer service impression. Although most of the employees are great and I love the clothes, this one young brunette woman with red lipstick (I think I overheard her say her name was Carly or Riley) left a sour taste in my mouth. I witnessed her being extremely short with someone who I assume wanted to make an exchange, and the employee was extremely rude and unprofessional. Having worked in customer service for decades, I understand how to handle situations like this- but obviously, this young employee did not. The girl who was having the altercation with this employee practically left the store in tears! Hire responsible and mentally stable employees for the future so the customer experience can be more enjoyable. I will be sure to avoid that employee at all costs... And I hope everybody else does too! read more

I used to shop at Banana Republic a lot for dressy work clothes and now I find it to be all the same. Sure, the argyle styles are cool, their stretchy pants and shirts are cool, their Merino / cashmere sweaters are cool, but after awhile, they look the same every year. Yet I always manage to find one thing that I like but not necessary need. Pinstripe pants and dress shirts. It's very comparable to Club Monaco I think. I do like the wide variety in socks, but they never seem to last more than three months. ACK! read more

Only giving it a two stars because of the help I received by one of the workers. Upon entering the mall there was a woman who seemed to be irate due to being mistreated in one of the stores. I thought she was a bit outlandish, but I continued into Banana. I had a return and walked up to the first available cashier. She was outwardly rude and felt as though I was causing her tons more work. Didn't say hello, no inquiry about the return, no thank you...zero. This was on Tuesday in the downstairs women department around 1pm. If I was managing this place she would be out the door! I moved upstairs to check out any recent pants since there was a sale. Of the six people working in the department, only one person came up to me as I stood in the middle of the floor waiting. He was a nice dude, and seemed to be very helpful. All the other workers ignored all customers and talked with themselves. What is it with Corte Madera and terrible attitudes? You work retail people! Get off your high horse and be polite. read more

I love BR clothing -- it fits me very well and looks great. The clothing, shoes and leather goods are very well made, with classic styling. However, the last 5 times I've been to this store I've come away dissatisfied. They either don't have my size or the color I want. What? You don't have a medium plain white dress shirt but you have every other size? That is just unacceptable and poor management. The last 5 times I've been there, a salesperson has gone to the back to try and find something for me and has come back empty-handed. And, no, I don't want to drive to San Francisco to buy that shirt/sweater/bag. I'm wondering why no one offered to have something shipped from San Francisco or wherever to the Corte Madera store? I was ready to buy three items to day, all priced over $150 each but they didn't have my size or color. read more

My friend and I went and although she tried on like 20 dresses none of the retail associates asked her if she needed a dressing room or a different size the entire time. The manager walked by and told her she should try taking her socks off but that is it. When I mentioned it to the cashier and manager the manager said it's because she hasn't gotten over the Dubs loosing. What a joke! read more

First time shopping there, never again. While paying at the cash register the young lady was VERY insulting to me because I did not want to get one of their cards. When I paid with credit card and had to sign for it, I did not know if you had to use a stylus to sign, when I asked he she just said to the lady behind me, "YOU SHOW HIM" and she ignored me. I really like this location for a couple of reasons. The staff is very helpful and attentive. It's a fun layout on two levels. The regular price section is well organized and appealing. "Take me to the Banana Republic..." This is my favorite Banana store. It has two floors and always a good sale section (i.e., it's not too messy and they have a good array of sizes available). And, it's much less dizzying than the flagship store in downtown SF. read more

Terrible, terrible customer service, I bought a Jacket form their Corte Madera store, I return it to store to be changed because of defect, they took it back credit my card and charge me again and order another one on line, I never got it , calling the store they say can't do anything about it you have to call customer service, calling two times costumer service I disconnect because I stayed on line more than one hour.
