Selection here is always awesome. Really love the Madewell style. Service this time tho was a bit off. Kinda feels a bit DIY. No welcome when I came in (no big deal) but also no help trying to close and open the heavy drapery covering the dressing room door. Felt kind of invisible. A woman in her '60s asked if the top she was looking at was part of the sale and I heard an unenthusiastic "no" from the sales associate who didn't both to offer any kind of explanation as to what was on sale or how to find it. I wandered toward the back of the store and did find a very good deal on a blouse. Same young woman rang me up with no enthusiasm, thank you, or comment when I exclaimed what a good deal I was getting. She was really pretty but also aloof as if she couldn't be bothered. No small talk or appreciation at all for my business. Huge difference from Anthropologie when I shopped later. I dunno - bad day? Or maybe she shouldn't be working in retail. read more

Had the worst shopping experience at this store last Friday ever. I had some pieces of clothing I needed to return due to basically falling apart at the seams. I walked in explained I did not have my receipt but I should be in the system as I was part of the rewards program. The first assistant could not be bothered what so ever . She half heartedly attempted to enter my email in her system but was unable to find me in her system. She was very rude and basically said she was unable to help me without my receipt . The second assistant was very helpful and willing to help me and work with me and she was able to locate me in the system. She said it would be totally fine for me to exchange the faulty jeans for a new pair in store. After finding a pair that were comfortable she came back to the fitting room and said I could no longer exchange the faulty jeans. They could patch them up for me ! A multi million dollar company is offering a patch up service on faulty jeans. This was the decision from the store manager at this branch who was sadly like a robot. No customer support and just a very lame Attitude to me as the customer. This store is possibly the worst experience I have ever come across in my entire life. To be saying one thing to a customer then only to retract the decision was highly unprofessional and totally sub standard. Madewell in Corte Madera turned out to be a shopping nightmare. read more

Came here looking for jeans. Francesca, their denim specialist, was a huge help! She was knowledgeable, helpful and really sweet. She helped me choose a pair that was ideal for my body-type. She took the time to listen to what I wanted, the wash I was interested in and the cuts I wanted to try. She made some great suggestions and even called over another girl to assist. I love Madewell and I was happy to find one so close to me now! The first time I went to this store, I was greeted right away. Some Madewell stores I've been to (Santana Row) have been filled with unpleasant experiences. Overall, dealt with rude employees. However, this Madewell is absolutely pleasant! Very clean store and employees really happy to help! What else could you ask for?? Everything here is super cute, but definitely expensive! I feed myself by folding clothes. I am a retail slave. I get it. Long hours standing around and pretending to be overwhelmingly excited at the pristine presentation of a table folded to perfection. That's life and so we deal. Let me first establish where exactly my concentration lies within this review: not with the clothing, but with the service. I love Madewell's pieces. The style, collaborations, prints, colors and boots are to die for. I could walk in and max out a credit card with little to no regret each visit. I try to, I yearn to- but the lack of customer service hinders my undying wish. As a retail regular, I've been in the business since 2006. Clothing to be specific. The past five years of my career have been dedicated to denim. Madewell is a clear competitor and the thought of my consistent presence inside their locations leaking makes my stomach turn. I can't stay away though, their product is otherworldly and gorgeous. I enter the store and am not acknowledged. I browse the front room, hold up a few items, fold them neatly as I found them (a strong indicator of a fellow retail comrade) and continue to make my way towards the back. I've still barely been glanced at. I find a few irresistible gems and begin to pile them on my arm and I continue to make my tour around the store. No one asks if I'd like to try them on. I stare head on at a sea of denim with mix matched fits and colors pondering their style and sizing. No one offers assistance or explanations. I look around for someone to let me into a fitting room and end up letting myself in. I sit inside the fitting room disheartened. My prior fire for the clothing is nearly extinguished and I head for the door. Right before I cross the lease line I hear a muffled, "have a nice day." That's not to say the people currently employed are cold hearted and maliciously uninterested, but there is a certain level of customer service I'd expect for a retailer to earn my respect and faithful following. I'm still hopeful Madewell, I'm ready when you are. read more

I received a postcard in the mail about a grand opening on August 30, so I was pretty excited that another Madewell was opening up in the Bay Area (also 15% off total purchase!). I made the drive up and was a bit disappointed. The sales associates didn't acknowledge us at all - for a new store, i didn't get that feeling of enthusiasm to welcome their customers. The store seemed a bit smaller than the one in SF, but it was well stocked. It also seemed like this store wasn't given as much fanfare as the opening of the SF store; there wasn't highlights of local designers/shops and unique items. I'm more of a J. Crew shopper, but was hoping a few items would entice me here, but there was nothing to tempt me (even with my little 15% off postcard on hand). To compare, I would definitely go back to Madewell SF, but not this one. read more

Oh goodness, I think this Madewell location beats the one at Westfield San Francisco. It seems that this location, while smaller than the SF store, had more items and was generally better stocked. I had a wonderful experience at this Madewell, and was able to find some really classic pieces on sale. Also, the girls working were very friendly and helpful. I believe that any future Madewell visits will be made at this Corte Madera location. :) read more

I'm writing this review because one of the other ones was so hysterical and confusing. I literally can't believe she walked into the same store I have spent so much money in. I just can't believe its the same place, because I have never walked into this location without a friendly hello and a smile. The girls are super friendly and eager to help without making it seem like they're selling me something. They're dressed to perfection, and offer really great advice and a personable experience. It feels more like I'm chatting with a girlfriend than a sales associate. The store always looks perfect-- I know the drill: finger spacing, perfect folds, no go-backs, and they're stellar at making it look easy. Half my closet is Madewell. The high-rise black denim is my go-to pair of denim and I bought them like 6 months ago. They have maintained their color (the gal told me to wash them inside out on cold), and their shape. The sale section is almost always an additional something off, and the newest items are just as cute as Anthro, but cheaper. Sign up for their email list-- not just the one on the website, but the one in-store. They are super sweet-- they email you when they're having their additional off sale, a new collection event, or if there's something specific you're waiting for and it's arrived. Don't underestimate the additional little goodies Madewell has to offer. I have a couple really great statement necklaces from here, and a super cute backpack that I sport to class. read more

Associates in store all pretty friendly. Last time I was there I tried on some shoes but didn't buy them. Decided several days later I needed them. Sold out online. No!!!! I called the store to see if they still had them. Molly said they were all sold out there too. She put me on hold to try to locate the shoes in CA or close by to no avail. She then went out of her way to check inventory everywhere and I'm glad she did! They were located in NYC-yay!! She then gave me the number to the NY store where I proceeded to get the coveted shoes. I am utterly appalled by the lack of customer service and prejudice I have experienced at this store this afternoon. My mother and I went were met with associates who smiled sweetly while assisting us with our chosen articles towards the fitting rooms. The curtains were drawn across all the rooms and she tells us they are all occupied, putting my clothes on the go-back rack. We wait patiently for an unnecessarily long time before we finally see an associate open the curtains to all the rooms, only to reveal that they have been unoccupied the entire time. I then noticed an associate proceed to take the go-backs from the rack and as she was nearing mine, I walked briskly over to ask about my room. When I finally get in, my mom and I hear shrill giggles with one mentioning that "they are inside." I love Madewell, but this experience was unacceptably unprofessional. I should have brought it up immediately when I sensed the foul play, but it was only until when I was being rung that I told off the associate at the register. I have worked in retail and I understand the shortcomings of the industry, but I just cannot believe the gall of these girls. Hopefully, they learn how to properly serve their clients for their sakes. read more

I came on a Saturday and it was quite busy but all of the associates were so helpful and friendly! While I was in the fitting room a lovely girl named Yadera helped me pick out a few items and I'm so excited about my purchases. Oh and Madewell denim is incredible!!!! I absolutely love the Corte Madera Madewell!! Last week I was in the store and a pair of jeans that I had been wanting went on sale. The girls working spent a long time calling different stores trying to locate these pants for me. After contacting many stores, we were finally able to order them through Madewell's customer service center with free shipping!! I've worked in retail for many years and I truly appreciate it when sales associates go out of their way to help you. This store has some great clothing and the associates are always really helpful, but every single tshirt I've bought there has spontaneously developed holes. This has happened with this and last year's crop. Must be something to do with the fabric. It has nothing to do with this location as I have had the same experience with tees bought at different locations. Has anyone else experienced this? read more
