First time visiting the Town Center in Corte Madera. The center is clean and tidy, I only went to a portion of it, but will definitely be back to visit the whole center. I've always liked this shopping center, even when I was a kid. But man oh man, it has changed so much over the years (for the better, I might add). But it wasn't until I recently revisited the Town Center in the midst of the Covid-19 lockdown that I truly appreciated how pretty this property is. No joke - this doesn't feel like a mall. As another Yelper so aptly described, it feels more like a small European village. That being said, most European villages don't boast a Crate & Barrel, Safeway, and CVS. But let's face it, if you're a shopping center, you're gonna need those anchor stores if you wanna attract suburban shoppers. But I'm quite impressed with the other merchants that they've assembled here. It's an eclectic mix of restaurants and retail. When it comes to restaurants, they have a nice collection of fine dining (Il Fornaio, Flores, Pacific Catch, etc.) and fast casual (Blue Barn, Pig In a Pickle, World Wrapps, The Counter, and more). So this ain't your typical mall food. No Sparro pizza or McDonald's here. Granted, you'll still find the inevitable Starbucks. But if that's not your cup of tea, the Town Center now has a Philz Coffee (which seems to be quite popular with the Millennials in town). More than anything, this is a beautifully landscaped shopping center. It's not just another mall. It's a comfortable, sunny place where you can spend the afternoon. Plus, they have a Farmer's Market on Wednesday and live music in the summer. Every time I come here, I discover something new and surprising. Where is security?! I'm a worker at the mall and it feels like recently it's been a zoo here. Which is odd because for the last year or so it's been way better. All of a sudden all the crazy people are back, there was a fight in the parking lot last week. The local teenagers are a menace, they zoom through the mall at breakneck speed. read more

I've been coming to the Town Center since I was young so witnessing the recent remodel felt like part of my childhood was gone. Like another review mentioned, it had a Euro village feel. I loved the old brick walking stones and the original clock tower which gave the shopping center more character. These days you'll find a more modern mall. They updated the walking stones and made the store fronts more modern. There's also new funky outdoor seating and landscaping. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy certain aspects such as the new fountain for the iconic elephant in front of Barnes and Noble. I'm glad they didn't remove the mural on the side of Wells Fargo, which has been there for 20 plus years. I usually grab a bite to eat at Blue Barn or The Counter and window shop at REI or Urban Outfitters. The days of affordable stores are a distant memory. I have seen a countless number of stores open and close throughout the years. Some last months while others last for years. Sephora and Philz Coffee are the newest additions while PF Chang's and CPK recently closed. read more

I was here when this center just opened. Back in the day I used to work at Ultra Lucca, which became AG Ferrari, and then finally closed. It wasn't a really high end mall back then, but wow has it changed. I grabbed a Peet's coffee and took a walk down memory lane. With Sephora, Barnes & Nobles, Rei, Crate & Barrel, Sur la Table, and Athleta the place has a different vibe. It's nice to see Louis Thomas, a family clothier is still there. Having my heart set on going to have a burger, I resisted going into some interesting eateries like World Wrap, Pig in a Pickle, and Blue Barn. A beautiful facelift of this 20-year old center made it almost unrecognizable to me. The charming Elephant fountain is still there. I took a seat to people watch. read more

This outdoor mall is great . It was kind is strange to try to shop & enjoy it . Sephora has a very long line :( But the bookshop was good to walk right in , it's a big store , lots of wonderful gifts & wrapping papers , toys , cards , and more , starbucks also . The counter is good and kind of fun , but I did not go by to see what they are doing currently . Sadly the mall lost SLT , but luckily it has Crate and Barrel . I love Ethan Allen , I have a few pieces from them . Classic & well made furnishings . I will do a bit more shopping , but let's face it , this holiday is challenging us all . Hard time to feel comfortable spending , yet we seek normalcy and familiarity. I want to throw caution to the wind , but we never shop w out grabbing a sit down and a bite , today it was order mobile and grab it with out contact . But , u know , we all will get to the other side , soon I hope . That's about it , I have to explore more here , to see what stores are still there . read more

The down Center has been around for decades. But they never miss an opportunity to upgrade and become a place you want to go and do your shopping. They make it trendy and delightful to the eye. With the flower beds in the trees and shade and areas outside for seating they plan this very very nicely. And they seem to get businesses in there that are liked. Its used well enough that they stay open for a long time. Right now they're doing some more construction which is just continuing facelift for the place to keep it upscale. It's a great place to shop in an alternative to the shopping center across the highway. It's a little smaller but it's a little bit more unique as far as the experience goes. read more

In this Crazy time of COVID, a bit of normally is very much welcomed. And So is a kind of new tradition on Saturday afternoons hubby and I drive over to the village in Corte Madeira. Sitting in the open and watching people go by is so much fun. We did this all the time in Europe sipping coffee or a wine in a nice coffee bar outside when the sun shines. It's now after three month of mostly staying home almost like a vacation to do that again. And the village is the right place to do so. It is amazing how this shopping center changed in the last couple years, it really reminds you of a good all town center In Italy! I hope that the Northgate center will more like this when they start me finish their transition. read more

It is a clean small outdoor mall. None of the merchants were engaging when I went into the stores. No hi. I even asked them if they were open as they were all so preoccupied with receipts, personal calls, and playing with their phones. They acted like they were the customers and didn't want to be bothered. I found one really amazing jewelry store. It took a while for her to warm as well. I wonder how they are surviving. Maybe it is a reverse psychology sort of thing. Pretend you are not interested and they will buy something. I have to say it didn't work on me. I was there back in August and a friend asked me about the place. We didn't end up going to that mall. It has its charms. But customer service is non-existent even when you are the only customer. I love the airy outdoor feel of the mall which makes up Corte Madera town centre It is just off the 101 and I was staying at the nearby Best Western hotel. The car park is busy but seems to cope well with the volume of shoppers. There is a healthy choice of shops and eating options to browse through for an hour or so. The marketing folks describe this outdoor mall as "A charming lifestyle center modeled after an Italian hill town" which "features engaging walkways with outdoor dining and plenty of architectural interest, including a fountain where shoppers can relax. " Uh, lifestyle center? Can you say YIKES?! In truth, there aren't a whole lot of major shopping opportunities here but there's plenty of free parking, a huge Pacific Catch with outdoor seating, Ciao Bella gelato and both The Container Store and Sur La Table. So if you want a quick escape from the city for lunch, frozen treats, kitchen implements and some storage boxes for under your bed, it's worth a visit. read more

M and I stumbled on the Corte Madera Town Center while we were looking for a place to hang out before our Melting Pot reservation. I saw there was The Counter close by so we went. I'm so glad I found this place! It's a cute little shopping center with restaurants, shops, a B&N, Rite Aid, Starbucks, The Counter + many more and on Wednesdays there's also a farmers market with vendors happy to give you samples (my favorite was the Indian sauce one. OMG so good)! While the Town Center LOOKS small, it's really not. That's not to say it's HUGE either, but it's a pretty good size for somewhere to eat lunch and go for a little walk. Malls- Never did I think that I would write a review for a mall. While living in Malaysia, there were so many malls in KL, that my daughter coined the term Mal-Asia. Spending time in a malls is not my preferred choice of leisure. As a guy who does not enjoy shopping, I normally do not enjoy spending time at malls. Enter the anti-mall. Corte Madera Town Center has a bit of a Euro village feel to it for me. I like the place. Corte Madera Town Center has a nice feel as you spend your time outside when traveling from one shop to another. Fountains, outside seating to eat your food or drink your coffee or to meet a friend. The management seems to be on top of keeping the Corte Madera Town Center clean and work hard to keep the parking lot secure and moving. Parking can be tight, but all of the spaces are close to the shops. Easy to get in and out. Upgrades are making the place sparkle as projects are being finished. 5 stars for the anti-mall. Shops-REI is probably my favorite place to shop in the world. Come to the holidays it is a great place to get gifts, buy clothes, get your outdoor gear or get a gadget. My daughters like "Urban Outfitters." The Crate and Barrel has been a source of our home furnishings for years. Food- I use Baja Fresh and World Wraps for food on the go often. We take my father to the PF Changs as it fits his bill for Chinese food. Il Fornaio is a solid choice for a nice dinner. My daughter loves the burgers and shakes at "The Counter." The Barnes and Noble bookstore/cafe is a great place to spend time. Prices are fair and they give educator discounts. 5 stars for Corte Madera Town Center, the anti-mall, because this place has shifted the mall paradigm. read more

Over the years the Town Center mall has morphed into, well, something that actually looks like a town square in the center. That's nice! I was killing time on Wednesday this week while Miss Daisy was at an appointment, and happily ran into the weekly farmer's market. Man, you people in Marin are sure relaaaaaaaaaaaxed, I couldn't believe vendors were still setting up at 10:30am when I left. Apparently the official hours are noon to 5pm. Us city folks we think if we're not at the market by 8am all the good stuff is gone. Anyhoo lots of really nice fruits and veggies, with super reasonable prices, so if you're in this general vicinity on a Wednesday, stop on by. read more

One of my favorite places on a nice day to walk around 'outside' and enjoy the shops. Surprisingly, it wasn't crowded on this Saturday after Thanksgiving. Nice variety of shops and restaurants. The larger department stores are a bit smaller than the ones in the city - so I usually skip those. Usually, I'll meet with a friend here for lunch, get a few hours of shopping in, enjoy a nice coffee break, and then head home. Easy access from the freeway and no worries about parking. I always enjoy the view of the Golden Gate Bridge to and from home - even though it gets a big crowded on the roads right before it. read more

I like this sunny place! When I'm feeling gloomy, especially during the summer when it's endlessly foggy near the beach where i live in SF, i take a quick drive to the Corte Madera Town Center!!! I like the ambience, it's not the typical mall place with the standard mall stores. It's outdoors, which i like, sometimes its good to have your latte or lunch and sit outside. Lots of tables and chairs with umbellas surrounded by imitation Italian style landscaping and architecture (A few years ago this place was dead and derelict with many vacant stores). I mainly come here to look at the WESTELM store (the only one so far on the West Coast), and a few others like BARNeS & NOBLE. Other favorite places, PEETS Coflee and the REI Store and the various restaurants such as BAJA FRESH and the CALIFORNIA PiZZA KITCHEN. If you get tired of this place, you can always go across the freeway to the VILLAGE at CORTE MADERA if you want a more complete shopping experience! read more

I love that they have free live music here during the summer. There is a real community feel to the environment. The shops that are here have some fantastic variety. I love the farmers market with the local flavor available. You get to meet the local talent in food and products. This is one of my favorite shopping areas in Southern Marin. Nice shops like REI, the Container Store, Sur la Table, and Crate & Barrel. Yummy restaurants like Veggie Grill, Pacific Catch, Il Fornaio and California Pizza Kitchen. Parking is abundant, though it sometimes can get crowded while driving through. The speed-humps are significant so go slow. Restrooms are always clean, which is appreciated. They are currently doing a significant remodel, so it is a bit messy currently. I am looking forward to seeing the new look. read more

Wanna be Fashion Island but not quite there yet maybe I'm spoiled but it is what it is!

I've been shopping here for 29 years. I've seen it transform from an okay shopping experience to one of the most luxurious shopping experiences in the Bay Area. As the premier shopping location in Marin County, one of the greenest counties in the United States, it's pretty appalling that they have almost no electric vehicle charging. Unless of course you own a Tesla. That says a lot about who shops here. By comparison the new Target in San Rafael has eight charging stations. C'mob TC you can do better! read more

I miss the old days... Cala Foods, Montgomery Wards, Thrifty, JC Penny and Woolworths. Typical of all shopping in Marin these days (especially Corte Madera), they strive to appeal to a more upscale crowd now. As far as malls go, though - it's alright. Outdoor mall, coffee, day old Teacake's cookies, REI used gear sales - those are the elements I like. And even though I was a tiny bit irritated about the Barnes & Nobles at first... Management at this mall is obnoxious. I called to alert them that Tesla was parking brand new cars in the front, shopper EV spots. The site manager said, "yeah Macy's owns those spots you should talk to them." They have consistently been indifferent to any suggestions. This outdoor mall is pretty cozy with water fountains and vines covering walls of buildings. It has several restaurants; Il Fornaio, Pacific Catch, California Pizza Kitchen, P.F.Chang's, and also a couple of fast food places. Barnes & Noble, The Container Store, Crate & Barrel, REI, Z Gallery, Rite Aid are the brand name chain stores. This summer they have bands playing in the court yard every Sunday 2-4pm. read more

The mall has the worlds largest turkey on display at this Thanksgiving time. I usually go this side of the mall. The mall is split into by a highway. I can go to a container store, safeway, bookstore, Pharmacy, and even go to three different Starbucks if I choose. Parking can be an issue if you get there past 11:00 am. Circle around and hope you don't have an Suburban like I have at this time because they changed most parking spot to compact size. I guess I will order tow spot please because I can't fit into one compact space. I like this place because it's small of enough to walk around and feel safe. read more

I like this place better than the Village across the freeway. To anyone who dings the Village because it's too small...you really have to consider both that place and this one together as a cohesive unit. The Town Center has a combination of upscale stores that you'd see in a fancy mall, as well as basics like Barnes & Noble, the Container Store, Rite-Aid, and a handful of food stores. It's a nice mix, and the architecture and atmosphere is really conducive to sitting outside and taking a break with a latte from Tully's or a sandwich from A. G. Ferrari. read more

Cute place to shop! Although, I don't really know what else to do here besides go to Urban Outfitters....Why didn't they combine this Town Center with the Corte Madera Mall across the freeway?
