Front staff were great. As far as the vet tech, it was thoroughly confusing. No communication about the actual vaccines. All I wanted was the rabies vaccine and when I looked at my pups paperwork they gave her six total! The vet tech did not ask my permission for any of the five extra ones! She was too busy trying to sell me one of the pet plans. I was so frustrated with the lack of information and all these vaccines she was preparing I wanted to walk out. Over a hundred bucks later and 5 extra charges I am quite frustrated. While the Vet was giving my pup one of the vaccinations she clearly missed when my pup jumped and I watched most of it fly in the air. Not professional at all. Very unorganized. I feel so guilty for taking my furbaby here. Never again. read more

We had to take our two dogs, who had been prepaid patients since they were puppies, for shots and a teeth cleaning. We ran into a business emergency and asked if a friend could pick them up. He lives with us. It took us 20 minutes to get approval for him to pick them up. The bill was $1,100 and I called to pay for the bill over the phone. They wouldn't except any credit card over the phone and then said they couldn't keep the dogs. Banfield has the most frustrating and prolonged check-in and check-out system. No one seems to know what they are doing. Will NEVER go back which is a bummer because we got the BEST care from Dr. Ryerson. He is the most compassionate and caring Vet we have ever met. He is the only redeeming person in this hellhole. The worst. Do not take your animals here. Corporate is a sh!tshow! read more

It's been a long road trying to cancel services. Once we finally canceled, the woman on the phone was rude and made it very challenging to cancel. Once we did cancel Banfield made us pay out (about $500) in the contract. This would be okay, if Banfield actually provide services. WE found over three years we could rarely get our pets in to see the vet and anytime something was urgent they sent us to another hospital. Additionally, it should be noted that as soon as they collected our $500 for the remainder for the contract they wiped all of our pets records from the system. I will continue to try to get ahold of someone at Banfield but my guess is this company couldn't care less. 10/16/21 FOLLOW UP I did go a head and file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. The response from the company representative was exactly as expected, full of misinformation. I will give them a couple days to rectify this, otherwise I will post the email communication on here so future consumers can see how Banfield inaction looks in writing. read more

We came here for years because a wonderful vet, Cindy Moreaux owned and worked here. Dr Moreaux no longer practices here and the clinic has been sold back to corporate. Since then, our care and experience has changed. It is no longer about animal and client care, it is about making as much money as possible, regardless of the outcome for the pet or owners. This is a perfect example of why corporate pet care DOES NOT WORK. This all culminated in our worst nightmare this week when we lost our beloved Savannah (9yr old), Spanky, after a bowel obstruction surgery (performed at the Pet ER who was great BTW) and what we feel is improper post op care by Dr Pogge at Banfield. Banfield had, on record, that our cat had a genetic clotting disorder and yet never went back and read their records. Test results for blood testing that THEY TOOK AND DOCUMENTED. After 5 days of our cat suffering and going downhill post surgery (and being see by Banfield/Dr Pogge EVERY DAY POST OP for blood work, X-rays, etc) she finally looked into it their own records. He was bleeding internally, 5 days post op. Dr Pogge called us at 6:30pm and told us that Spanky needed a blood transfusion to which we agreed. We raced down to the clinic ready to do the transfusion only to be told, very unapologetically and coldly, by Dr Pogge that they didn't have blood product.....and nobody in Bozeman did..... and nobody in ALL of Montana did (which seems odd as she had literally called us just 20 minutes earlier and told us she could perform a transfusion) and we would have to drive to WSU....so basically we should put him to sleep. Talk about a shocking blow. We will never forget how cold she was in the delivery of the news. Then to top it all off....they were sooooo concerned about getting their payment that they literally had us sign paperwork and got our credit card before letting us see and euthanize our pet (mind you, we had already spent $5000 trying to save Spanky with Banfield and have been paying clients for the past 15 years). It was absolutely horrific. Bad enough that we lost our pet, but the interaction with Dr Pogge and her staff was shocking and completely gut wrenching..... We are now looking into filing a complaint with the MT Board of Veterinarians as well as getting an attorney. We trusted that Banfield vets would review pet records (Spanky had only ever been seen here) LOOK AT TEST RESULTS THAT THEY PERFORMED and that could have changed our beloved pet's post op care and possible outcome. We will be pulling all of our animals from Banfield and have numerous friends and family members who will be leaving Banfield over this. We are heartbroken, angry, and have lost all trust in Banfield and its doctors. read more

I have a wellness plan for my cat that renews every mid-December, so I called the beginning of December to get my cat in and use up any remaining plan before it renews, specifically anesthesiology, because you only get one with your plan and it's typically used for dental cleaning. I save my dental cleaning until the end of the year just in case the anesthesiology is needed throughout the year for possible emergencies (because without using the one in the plan could cost you over $500 easily). Anyway, when I called they didn't have any appointments available until after it renews. Nick said he'd work his hardest to get me one, and he did. Thank you Nick! Beyond that, the staff is always so nice. Side note, time to vent... I had a friend complain to me that I'm not using a "local" vet, that I'm using a chain. I call BS on that because regardless if Banfield is part of a chain, they're still all local Veterinarians, and employees, locally working there making a living. Speaking of which, when people bitch about being local, imagine Target or Walmart not existing. Now think about how many jobs they provide. In turn, these gigantic chain stores are boosting our economy, locally, and providing tons of jobs. Sorry "local" stores that employ 10 people... Target and Walmart that employ hundreds is putting you out of business. I'm local, and I buy locally, but I also go to chain stores and people need to quite complaining about them because they are one of the biggest contributors to our thriving communities. read more

Definitely all about money here. Why have drop-off appointments just to have my dogs sitting untouched for nearly five hours waiting for routine vaccinations and care? All to be told, "I'll get them done next.." (IN UNDER AN HOUR) after I call and ask for an update. Horrible time management. Obviously overworking their nurses and doctors to cram in every single dollar they can. If I could afford it, my dogs would only ever go to Gallatin Veterinary Hospital. Beware pet owners ! If something happens in your life that you no longer have your pet and you want to cancel the year-long plan, you are stuck in Banfield's plan for the entire year and if you try to get out of it early, they charge you for services already rendered at an exorbitant cost schedule they call "retail price" that ends up almost exactly the amount of the year plan. I had a puppy for 4 weeks that was rehomed, and when I called to cancel my Puppy Plan insurance, they charged me $520 for just 2 rounds of vaccinations (which is almost the cost of the year plan of $595). So heads up - There is no way to get out of the plan should anything happen in your life. read more

We were having issues with our Bull Terrier while staying in West Yellowstone. We tried to find a vet close by but, they were all 75-90 miles away. We tried to get into several vets offices but, they were all booked. One office told us to try Banfield in Bozeman. Banfield was able to get us booked in immediately. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Dr. Darcie was a delight to work with. She was very caring and wasn't pushy for unnecessary tests and treatments. Their integrity and empathy is very rare and is greatly appreciated. read more

The vets are fine, but the Banfield Programs are a SHAM! Don't buy it. They bill you one amount, then they change it on you. Think you have a contract? Ha, they'll just change the contract. This is a sacred place. The staff cares for the animals like they would their own children. They are professional, compassionate and I trust them completely. I cannot recommend Banfield highly enough. They have helped us through every situation, from the mundane to the heartbreaking. DO NOT JOIN THEIR MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM! I'm stuck paying monthly for a year even though we've switched vets. Why switch? My pet couldn't NEVER see the same doctor, I ALWAYS had to drop him off for the entire day (even just to get claws clipped), and when he came home he was ILL and lethargic from the sedative fog they pump into the kennels. DO NOT USE THIS VET. Terrible experience. Gave them a chance--visit five different times---but finally quit them even though I still have to pay the monthly fee because each visit felt like a trip to Walmart. After even one visit you cannot lower the plan you had selected prior to the visit nor can you change your plan to a lower one. Only one visit and you end up paying the same as someone who goes frequently and uses the plan for all its worth for the entirety of the original sign up period. Heartless scamming company. I've been a Wellness Plan customer of Banfield going on 13 years now for my 3 dogs. That's 3 dogs at approximately $30+ each per month @ around $11,000.00 total. That's just for the plan! The wellness plan I chose included a dental cleaning and discounts on services (which were not cheap). The plan also included unlimited walk-in visits (walk-ins are no longer taken as I recently found out when turned away on two occasions for an unwell dog--l had to take her to a different vet clinic!). Initially, it was a good plan for me because one of my dogs had major health issues and the vet and techs were extremely helpful and available. I've always credited Dr. Moreaux (who is no longer owner and vet here) for saving my dog's life more than once. It seems the place has really gone downhill since Dr. Moreaux departed and the business was sold back to the corporation. It's ALWAYS been a horrible setup for a vet clinic--you have to walk all the way through and to the back of Petsmart store to get to the vet (not a fun feat when you have a sick pet), having to navigate other pets and customers on your way, but I dismissed that as long as my dogs were getting good care. The clinic desk is usually quite hectic with no privacy. The whole encounter is rushed and hectic--again, not a good setup for a sick or anxious pet. There have been more issues recently involving costs and care. It does seem to have devolved into $$$money being the number one priority for this place. I get that it's a business, but the top priority no longer comes across as compassion and TLC for customer and pet. I do think the majority of the staff here cares and tries to do a good job, but I get the impression they're under the "gun" of corporate standards. I have one pet left on the plan, and as soon as it is up for renewal (you can't cancel before that time), I'm done with Banfield. My sister has also discontinued her plan with Banfield. read more

The staff at this Banfield has been nothing but nice and helpful. That being said, I would not do a wellness plan again. It was okay for a 8 week old puppy. It included all the vaccines, deworming, and vet visits. I upgraded to include heartworm prevention and a neuter. Anything outside of this, is extremely expensive and overprice. Their vets do not want to tell you anything without running a bunch of tests, but they probably make commission or something. When my dog got neutered there, his incision appeared uneven. We were told to pick him up, but then had to wait almost an hour because of some complication. They also noticed at that point his eye looked bloody, but said that happens sometimes with anesthesia. That may be true, but it looked more like it was banged against something. It was pretty bad for a few days. Everything healed up fine with no complications My dog had a leg issue, and the 3 different vets I saw there didn't seem to have any idea what was wrong with him. They suggested X-rays, which were 3x the amount as other local vets. They don't even look at the X-rays there...they are sent somewhere else. They don't profess to be orthopedic specialist, though, so I took him to a specialist. It was a tendon problem. Expect to take your pet elsewhere for any serious issue or if you need any sort of diagnostic test. read more

I really appreciate the staff and doctors. They treat my pets and me like valued clients. I started with another clinic in town who were elitist and treated my mixed breed like a stepchild. I have never felt that anyone at Banfield was trying to overcharge or add on unnecessary treatments. I do have the care plan for my dog but not my cat. The dog is accident prone and it has more than paid for itself. So far, the cat is low maintenance. read more

I took my kitten to this practice because I had suspected that he had swallowed something that was lodged in his intestine. At this visit the vet thought she could feel something in there and his temp was 98 degrees very low for a cat, he was vomiting and very sick. She said they should do surgery and explained that it would cost $1500 to fix him. I explained I didn't have that kind of money and asked about making payments. Apparently they do not accept payment plans but they will accept checks, or plastic. So needless to say my 8 week old kitten died because they are more concerned about the money than the animal at Banfield Vet in Petsmart Bozeman. Don't take your animal there if you think they are really sick because they would rather watch it die than help. Thanks Doc! read more

Hands down the worst experiences I have had at the vet. I've been a pet owner for 30 years. The final straw, yes several situations later, was when I read the medical records that had been sent to another vet. There was more written about my character than there was about the treatment my pet had received... They did NOT do what I asked, and didn't stand behind their work after their approach failed. I was more than disappointed. When I asked to speak the manager regarding this matter, the situation confirmed that this is not where I will do business anymore. Do your self a favor, go somewhere else. There are several great vets in Bozeman that may come with a slightly higher price tag, but in the end they will do the job right the first time. Took my dog in as a new patient. Felt like they wanted to get all they could $$$ out of me. The vet wanted all these test done which was included in the "pet packages". Not cool. Felt like I wasted over an HOUR of my time. And am very very glad I decided to go to another vet. Don't go to them!!! read more
