Sell, sell,sell! That is all they try to do here. They are serious about up selling their private products and services. They try to tell you that all the pet products and meds you buy from anywhere else is no good and sound like a time share presentation whenever you schedule an appointment for a simple rabies shot. I came here for what I thought was a quick appointment but due to having to wait for the sales pitch to be over and my dog non-stop barking ( still young and barks a lot) while the tech was trying to explain all kinds of protection plans and extra fees, it took almost 3 hours. It seems like they could of took the dogs inside before the lecture that would save trouble and time. I don't know why we had to sit there so long. They scheduled my first appointment at the wrong location and when I showed up, they couldn't see us. They rescheduled us for the next week. When the day finally came for our appt, I went inside for what I thought was a drop off appointment, but was told that was only for earlier in the day. So I guess that's why they made me sit here waiting for almost 3 hours?! I was also a bit annoyed by them saying that my first office visit was free after I gave them the coupon from their website for a " new pet patient". Tech said I have been the before with a different pet so my coupon was no good. I stated that this was the first time that my dog has ever been there and he is a new pet and the coupon should apply. She went and checked with the supervisor and she agreed. Tech stated that she thought that it said new client instead. Seems like she gets commision from up selling the way she was trying to increase my bill again and again. I was as ready as my dog to finally get out of this place. I was thinking of getting other services here, but for the time that it took just to get a simple rabies shot for my dog, I may look somewhere else for service. It took way too long. I had high expectations when I came to this animal hospital after my kitten starting limping. They suggested that my kitten has feline leukemia and pushed us to do blood tests that costs over $350.00; we then went another animal hospital and they diagnosed him within 30 mins as a simple bacterial infection. Its ridiculous that the vets couldn't figure out a simple bacterial infection and it was clear that they were just out to get as much money as possible from the customer. I fell for some talk of very inexpensive cat services, so went in for my first and only visit. I needed the third round of shots for my 2 kittens. The only price I remember was $18.50 per cat to administer 1 pill! I had gone there thinking I would save money over my traditional vet. She charges $5 for the same service. I had similar experience with some of the reviewers came for regular shots but turned into mutiple issues. Got sold on the year wahtever plan they had [300+$$$$] but it never really paid for anything. So much headache. Schedule my pet several times for something simple but then it always turn into extra extra $$$$$. Always some excuse to get me back in a fews week and then oh no this other thing is wrong schedule again and my pet still havent gotten what it was original plan for. Try some other pet vet. First time i went for another pet they were fast efficient and never had all this extra moeny grabbing schemes. Probably bc it was peak covid maybe why I got away headache free. They actually treated what needed to be treated that time. Highly DO NOT recommend dr youngblood. I have been to another banfield b4 and the vet worked at banfield and volenteer at a pet center in athens. Was a wonderful experience , very knowledgeable very experience, but NOT Buford banfield. This program is not worth the headache. They really can't do anything for your pet other than prescribed medication that your pet may or may not need. Every visit will result in the purchasing of another medication. Once you are in the plan you will have to pay it in full to get out. It is a lot cheaper to pay as you go at a regular veterinarian hospital. There was very little help from the Mall of Georgia location when my pet had puppies. They never even told me that she was expecting. I found out after taking her to a vet in Gainesville. Would not renew my pets heart worm prescription unless I physically took her in for another exam, but they kept billing without the exam. I am so over Petsmart and Banfield- never again! I can now see why they are so full of one star reviews..... keep up the good work! read more

I had to make an emergency visit at this location. I was out of town and my dog got into a horse pasture and was trampled by 3 ponies and two horses. They got me right in to check on him. When I tell you I would of loved to bring home Dr. Laye and the staff at this location! They were amazing!!! And Dr. Laye not only called me multiple times to check on my boy! I've been coming to Banfield for a year with the puppy plan. At first, the plan seemed very convenient and we were recommended by 2 different friends. Before the plan was halfway over, I already regretted my decision to come here. The plan is set up for your puppy to get all the vaccines and visits they need within their first year. The plan seemed worth it at first, but after 3 months, you don't need to come back. And if you use up all of your visits/services, they'll start charging you for everything. Whenever our puppy got vaccines, one of the vets didn't give him the full dosage because "he was squirming too much." The fluid got all over his coat and was all over the table. She not only spilled it, but decided to not give him the remaining amount. This was not a valid excuse for why she couldn't give him a full dosage and could've been a harm to his health. At this location, the receptionist at the front doesn't have the nicest manners and isn't friendly or welcoming. Whenever I had to call in for anything, I could always tell it was her because of her tone of voice. We didn't encounter the waiting problem that everyone else seemed to have. We always got into a room and saw the vet within 10 minutes of our appointment time. We encountered 3 different vets and they were caring and always answered our questions when necessary. But when it came to services, they always tried to add on extra charges. When we first took our puppy there, we were unsure about clipping his nails (since we're first time dog owners) and they wanted to charge us $15 to SHOW us how to do it properly. They were not going to cut all of his nails, they just wanted to show us how to do it. Thankfully we went to a different vet for a short time and they cut his nails free of charge & out of the kindness of their heart. The convenience of the plan was not worth the hassle. We will not be returning and we will not be recommending Banfield to anyone. Thankfully we have switched vets and have had wonderful experiences elsewhere. read more

Move along.. nothing to see here. Gave these folks a shot last year maintaining my two mutts, benny and joon. Signed up for the monthly deduction for their care. And we're off right? Well first off they make you wait for your appointment for 45 min or so. Then they take your pets and ask if you can return later when you do they try to up sell everything from more vaccines to dental services (big dogs with hard food don't need) this happened more times than I care to recall. I have loved Banfield Pet Hospital for years but I have to say the staff at this particular Mall of Georgia area store has been consistently awful. On exactly four occasions I have stood at the front desk either with my dog waiting to be checked in, or by myself to pick him up... no acknowledgement, eye contact, "someone will be right with you".... nothing. Unless I interrupted or asked to be helped, it has been anywhere from 15 - 25 minutes before I was helped. Whether there were other customers or not! Then after waiting you get a snarky, rude attitude? BUH-bye. I have since moved my pooch to another nearby Banfield where everyone-including the doctors and techs-have been amazing. Unless you have hours to burn on a workday, I would steer clear of this one. read more

First off I got a very unprofessional call saying hey your pet is ready for pickup come get her now she's waiting. I rushed over to get my pup to then have to stand at the counter 25 minutes without being acknowledged while the one staff at the counter fully engaged a pet owner about their pet and never once said mam I will be with you shortly. I was overlooked for 25 minutes waiting patiently and it wasn't until an older white man approached the check out counter that I became clearly aware of the mistreatment of me as a customer. It was at that time a vet (not Dr. Youngblood) saw him from the back of the treatment room and came out and acknowledged him but said nothing to me, again overlooked for the second time. He spoke up and said this lady was waiting first, again it was like I didn't exist. Then another 10 minutes went by and finally the lady who had ignored me for 30 minutes finally said I'll be with you in a moment. I was beyond frustrated so finally after 35 minutes of waiting I complained about how her lack of customer service was unacceptable and rude and she made up an excuse that she was the only one up front. Well, that's not my problem I work for a company that prides itself on being customer centric and when I am on the reviewing end my expectations are high and I expect what I give my customers daily a great experience! If it wasn't for the grooming location and Dr. Youngblood I would never step foot back into this Banfield location. I plan to put this review on Yelp and other social media outlets in hopes that no other pet owner will have to endure what I went through last Saturday! I surely can see now I'm not the only one who thinks poorly of the front counter staff and some of the vets there! read more

The only reason I am giving this a 1 star is bc the vet has called to check up on my dog. I do appreciate that and find it very professional. My visit was not cheap, but when it comes to my dog I don't care. The problem is the testing they did. Saying he had ring worm. They did none of the "proper" testing for ring worm just a fungal culture and gave him heaps on medication. Again I don't mind. But calling me a week and a half later telling me the fungal grown shows signs of ring worm irritates the crap out of me. They could have simply used a black light or skin scraping to test. Now more money and more med's for my big guy. Not a happy customer or is my dog happy. Please go somewhere else. read more

This place is a joke lol. I usually take my pets to another clinic (which is about a 40 min drive from my house), but decided to come to Banfield because my dog had swollen anal glands and plus, it was nearby. Now I've had another pet who have had swollen anal glands before and was fine after being treated and put on antibiotics, so I wasn't too worried. So I take my dog to this Banfield, hoping that they could treat him and do the same. The lady at the counter took him to the back for an examination and about a couple of minutes later, she literally came running out while holding him and started explaining how bad his situation was. She explained that we needed to have him treated asap, which estimates around $80-$100. But if we didn't do anything soon, his anal glands would rupture and would most likely need surgery. She even mentioned that he would die if we didn't get him treated soon, so at that point I had enough of her bullshit. We walked out, took him to his regular clinic (Wellpet Humane) and by that point, his anal glands did rupture. However, they were still about to treat him. They never mentioned anything about it being serious like what the lady at Banfield said. They just did what they had to do, gave us two antibiotics, and he's doing much better now. I can't help but think that the lady at the front desk was seriously exaggerating the problem and trying to make me more worried than I should be. read more

A bad experience! My sweet dog who suffers from terrible anxiety is stuck at the Banfield Pet Hospital! The staff had been absolutely uncooperative and refuses to give me my dog back. Our appointment was at 2:30! I am writing this at 6:30! FOUR HOURS LATER! This is the worst experience, we just want our dog back, but Banfield had so many issues that we can't even see our dog to comfort him. We will NOT be returning to Banfield after this horrendous experience for myself and my precious dog. If zero stars was an option, that would be what Banfield deserves! read more

We have had such a bad experience with Banfield these past couple of months ever since my dog has become very reactive towards dogs. They are not whatsoever accommodating with bringing my pet into the hospital. We try to look out to make sure there's no dogs that my pet won't see. The staff is so rude and are not truthful to us before bringing him in the hospital. We waited 25 minutes outside after the time my pet was supposed to go in because supposedly a nurse was going to go out to get him. They said they waited 5 minutes outside for him, but we were in the first parking spot waiting for the nurse looking at the entrance and she came outside, looked right and left for a second, then walked inside. there were two large dogs that my dog was barking at, it's impossible to walk by a dog without him going aggressively crazy. I have expressed this to the staff many times and they are not helpful whatsoever in trying to attend to my pet in a safely manner, which is severely concerning. when I called to cancel the appointment since i had been waiting for over 30 minutes just to bring my pet inside, the lady on the photo asks what's my pets name, then I proceed to tell her, and she says "ok" and hangs up immediately. My puppy was given an incorrect vaccine, left in a crate for six hours and muzzled without my knowledge or consent. I have filed a complaint with government agencies and unfortunately mine is one of thousands with Banfield. DO NOT take your pets here. I hope they are shut down soon. We had an appointment at 2:00 today to get vaccinations for our dog. It's now 5:30 and out dog still has not been seen by the vet!! My daughter waited for an hour, then was told it would be another hour. THREE AND HALF HOURS after our appointment, our dog STILL has not received his vaccinations. Do your pet a favor and never take them to this location. Worst customer service ever. The name of the lady at the front desk was Michelle. She was rude and refused to let us see the doctor. I drove 45min to get to that location. My appointment was at 3:30pm. I was at the lobby by 3:37pm and was waiting to checkin because Michelle was busy with someone else. By the time my turn came, it was 4:43pm and she told me that I was more than 10min late and I cannot see the Vet. This is ridiculous for 2 reasons - 1) They never told us about the 10min policy when I made the appointment 2) That policy does not apply to me before I was there within the 10min buffer. I have called the client advocacy group at Banfield and filed a complaint against this lady. read more

For the last 5 years we have taken our cats there for their annual shots and exam. This year I made my appointment and asked if I could wait and watch the vet and was told absoutely. This is what we have done in the past. For w2 days in a row they called to,say they were short a vetenerian and that I would have to drop them off. They said if I dropped them off at 2 I could pick them up at 5. When I got there at 5 they said they had tried to,call me to tell me They needed another 45 minutes. My mobile had no missed calls or voice mails so I didn't believe they had called. The first thing they said was,an,emergency came,in and,pointed to a sign on the wall. We have been clients of the Buford Banfield for about 7 years, never once have we been treated rudely or been charged a higher rate than quoted. When a human goes to the dr and you have X-rays you pay for a radiologist to read your X-rays. An office visit is $39.95 and then tests, blood work, etc. is extra just like a Drs. Office. The staff is the greatest very caring and compassionate. Dr. Sims and Dr, Youngblood have cared for all of our family, they have preformed several operations with success. One of our bassets and a cat had an eye removed because of glaucoma and birth defect. They suspected and caught cancer in another basset and referred us to North GA Vet. Specialists and UGA. The pet wellness plans will save you money but again you will have charges to pay extra for just like health insurance. Veteranians have a protocol to follow just like a human dr. We have been there when they close and still have clients to see, they dont say closing time come back tomorrow they stay late to see everyone. We have had an appointment I will say for 3:00 but don't get in till 3:30-4:00 emergencies come up some clients take a little longer than expected have patients be glad they take time. We never go there expecting to pay less than $200 especially if your pet is sick and needing tests. All in all we consider Banfield Family and love each and everyone of the staff. read more

Last time I come to this place! I left my Yorkie Poo at drop off at 8 am because they wouldn't let me stay with him and was told to pick him up at 2 pm i called and they told me he hadn't been seen. I waited for there call until 6 pm and i called again asking where my dog was and they told me he was ready?! HOW RIDICULOUS i had to wait another 20 minutes to get my dog he was in a cage for 10+ hours he peed himself and he was so dehydrated and hungry and horrible customer service never knowing anything and disrespectful when someone asks for there dog. read more

I take my dog here because we bought the pet plan and Lord knows i can't wait until it is over...they have no customer service, they close the register early (consistently) they have no personality and I honestly try to limit my transactions there-the lack of customer service from the front desk staff makes me hesitant about the quality of care i would receive if we really had an emergency. I realized every time I take my pet to Banfield, there is always an emergency expense or procedure that must be done in order to continue my dog's well care. I purchased the insurance when we rescued our pet. The last visit the doctor states my dog needed an X-ray. I can understand that an x-ray would help to get to the root of the problems. (X-rays are part of my plan without any extra expenses.) The next thing the doctor told me was there would be an extra expense to read the X-rays. Wow! My question to the doctor was "You're not able to read X-rays?" She said she could read them but wanted to make sure they were read correctly. My thought are if you are not able to read an x-ray how do you know if the x-ray are legible? If there is someone on staff who can confirm that the x-ray are legible then the X-ray's were read and no further need to go outside. The doctor, who could not read the X-rays then said to me "we can start your dog on medications. She then said I can tell through the X-rays that there's a problem and medication "may" help my dog's condition." I had to ask her why would I put my dog on medications and you did not know what's wrong with my dog? She then started to double talk and I felt like I was talking to two different people at once. The X-rays cost over $65.00 to be read. This expense was on top of the $ 285.00, office visit over a two week period of time and the $54.00 a month payment for insurance. (Note: there was a medical concern mentioned that was not addressed at the first visit) I am looking for a Veterinarian in my area for a second opinion. I am also looking to drop his plan and go to a Veterinarian in my area. I do like the Doctor my dog sees regularly at Banfield, however on all the visits I went to she was not there. I also specifically asked for this doctor while I made this appointment. If you have a particular doctor make sure they are the assigned doctor for your pet. Even if you made it very clear while making your appointment conversations seems to get lost in translation from the front desk to the Doctors ears or their appointment ledger. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. As other reviewers mentioned, always added "emergency" expenses, followed by "need to do further tests and send them out"..... Seriously? Every time? Every time you keep my dog for 8+ hours and never see results. I have no problem spending money on my dog. Trust me, I'm not cheap so don't think this is another money rant. My issue with this location is that that the dog is not being taken care of and simple placed into a cage for hours then it upsets me. They don't even feed the animal. Every time I bring the dog home she immediately runs to water and food and it's upsetting seeing that and realizing your dog was essentially a prisoner. Never taking my animal back there because all that happens is that the short Asian Doctor comes out to give extremely vague statements and ultimately say " we need to run more tests ". I can better diagnose my dog with a Google search than this test-aholic Doctor. Stay away. ..... Oh and if the lack of care upsets you...wait till you see the receptionist. Let's just say multi tasking is not one of her core strengths. read more
